Ok, trying to read between the lines here as I am not sure what you are trying to ask.

Can a site profit from other peoples work? Depends on the licence and how it was published. For specifics look at the licence and speak to a lawyer specialising in the governing law. The answer is probably, but you should check.

A lot of creative licences allow for profit distribution and even creating derivative work. Once again, if it is relevant for you - check with a lawyer.

As a side note a lot of homebrew isn't original. If homebrew is based on a fictional or mythological character and if someone else bases content on something similar, and uses the same abilities they show in the myth, then they are likely to come out pretty similar. Say if someone homebrewed a class intended to emulate spiderman then they cant really complain if the distinguishing features of someone else's class are ensnaring people, swinging from webs and being agile.

Well roll 20 is free. Homebrew is free - do your own. I would always council people to never pay for someone elses homebrew when they can do their own.

Worst case scenario go into the homebrew forum here and specify what you want from a 'brew. This way you really get what you need, what suits your character you have planned and so on.

No, you're fine. Sites like that can be upsetting. But honestly if you're looking for some homebrew there's so much free stuff out there, and people on this forum would love to help you figure out if somethings unbalanced.

Let us know what homebrew you are looking for and I am sure we can fix something up?

one was a jiangashi monk.

one was a jiangashi monk.

So you want a monk archetype associated with the Jiangshi? I think we can manage this.

So the characteristics you might want: an animalistic predatory character, dead/aspects of a corpse or (occasionally) ghost? A bit of a vampire theme also?

A quick look through the MM for undead abilities that might be useful (omitting things already covered or very specific):

Banshee: Wail, horrifying visage, detect life
Death knight: magic resistance, martial undead, spellcasting
Demilich: Cloud of dust, vile curse
Flameskull: rejuvination
Ghost: possession
Ghoul/Ghast: Paralysis, stench
Lich: Disrupt life
Mummy: rotting fist, dreadful glare, blasphemous word, whirlwind of sand
Revenant: vengeful glare
Shadow: Amorphous, shadow stealth, strength drain
Spectre: Ethereal/Walk through walls
Vampire: Regeneration, bite/grapple on hit, charm and dominate/summon bat/rat swarms, spider climb
Wight: life drain
Will o'wisp: Invisibility
Zombie: undead fortitude

Of these eliminate the ones covered by the long death monk or that would overlap substantially with it (fear effects, undead fortitude). Eliminate the abilities that overlap substantially with the core base class (paralysation overlaps with stun, spider climb overlaps with the wall walk etc.) I also left off abilities more to do with "class" than type - things like weapon attacks. I also eliminated the abilities that reduced maximum HP - enemies healing is a bit situational so it might not be that useful in a lot of campaigns. The shadow abilities would be good but there is already a shadow themed monk - the strength drain could work for non shadow themes so it could be ok. I picked out the ones I think are useful in green.

At a first stab I would say level 3 tries to pin down the more day to day abilities of the archetype and what will make it stand out from the others. I would be tempted to add some Ki abilities here.

Level 3: when you hit an enemy with an unarmed strike they must make a strength save or become grappled. When you deal damage to a grappled enemy you may expend 1 Ki, if you do you gain temporary HP equal to the damage done. (Aim to take the vampire abilities and loosely tie them into the character - the HP could equally well be swapped for extra damage if you wanted a focus on greater damage for the class. A lot of undead have some kind of resilience/regeneration abilities so I thought this might work)

level 6: you may spend 2 Ki to summon a bat, rat or raven swarm to within 15 ft of you as an action. Treat this ability as a spell that requires concentration and with a duration of 1 hour. another nod to the vampire and adds something original to the class. You may spend 2 Ki to cast charm person.

level 11: You may attempt to move through solid walls as if they were not there. As part of your movement make a wisdom check, you may move through a number of ft of solid obstacle this turn equal to the result. If you finish inside a solid obstacle you are pushed to the nearest open space and take 4d10 force damage.not quite a Jiangshi ability but most classes have a non damage ability at some point and the monk needs some non-ki abilities as well or if you wanted a more vampiric theme: you may spend 5 Ki points to cast dominate person.

level 17: you may spend 6 Ki points to channel a wail like a banshee as an action. Each creature within 20ft must make a constitution save or fall to 0 HP. On a successful save they take 5d10 psychic damage. An area of effect capstone a little like the open hand one. Less impact on a fail, not being able to attack as part of the same action, double the Ki cost and the chances of friendly fire should hopefully balance this somewhat.

I tried to find more sources on the Jiangshi - unfortunately my books don't have a lot of detail there so what is above is a bit of a fudge based on what I could gather (kind of like a vampire but not quite a vampire - maybe closer to a wight but with some mystical background. Also jumping - but not sure that is a feature). This has pushed some of the abilities closer to western vampires than I am comfortable with though. Discuss any features you want though and they can be added in.

Wikipedia was my starting point - the problem is that there is actually nothing there on abilities or what makes them scary or different from other vampires/unread
