Why not automatically lock threads after 45 days?

I assume that there is a computer program that could automatically lock threads after 45 days of no one posting in that thread as a default. Perhaps that could be looked into as an option?

Locked threads become much more difficult to usefully quote from, so that's one issue that may arise, I imagine.

We're aware of that technical possibility. It's not of interest for several reasons, the quoting issue above among them. Thanks for the suggestion, though.
