So, I'm planning on having a martial arts festival in a game I'm running. You'd need to have tickets to go inside (maybe there's a palisade wall around everything) and inside there would be exhibitions from different schools, guilds, etc. Do you have any ideas for things to happen there, or contests the PCs could join? Give me your ideas and opinions. Also, the party consists of a Paladin, a Ranger, a Cleric, and a Barbarian.

There's a bunch of teachers giving pointers. If you can survive two rounds against a couple of opponents, you learn enough to gain several ranks in Tumble/Balance.
Contest where one of each of the contestant's hands are tied together. All hits automatically hit. The opponent has regeneration, and dirty tricks are encouraged.
A wrestling match with clerics of Kord. Only punches and grapples allowed.
Fights atop bamboo poles. Attacks that are too strong knock both people off. Players are allowed to subtract 'x' damage from their hits, but it has to be decided before attacking. Balance checks abound.
Archery contest. They shoot against targets, and players have to decide whether they want to shoot for the outer rings (larger, lower AC, lower point value) or inner rings (smaller, high AC, high point value). Prizes available in snazzy arrows, bows, gold, and wine.
Drinking contest. Con checks. Nuff said.

Stole this from Survivor, ah well. Contest where two opponents each balance a totem on a pole in one hand, and try to knock the other contestants totem off their pole with the other. First Totem to hit the ground or break loses, and no touching your own totem directly! No weapons allowed but the pole, which could be used to hit someone, though that's a terrible idea seeing as your totem is balanced on it. Also, if your opponent is dead or unconscious, they can't really hold up that pole. Just sayin'.

Blindfolded Battle- Two Contestants are blindfolded and put on a platform being shaken by festival employees. The contestants must stay on longer than the other, and though fighting is not required, many contestants find it quicker to try and knock their opponent off. However running is dangerous because of the shaking, and the platform has holes and planks that give way when stepped on scattered about it. A gold piece is flipped and the winner chooses the weapons.

Floating Battle- Contestants have fly cast upon them and are put in a large sphere rolling up and down ramps, causing the contestants to be jerked around by momentum. In amateur matches, First one to touch the walls of the sphere or pass out loses, in professional matches, the sphere's walls have spikes driven through them, and the first one to die loses. NO WEAPONS ALLOWED!!!
