A film I enjoyed throughout. Predictable due to seeing the subplots over and over again in previous movies but still left room for interest since the ultimate outcome isn't a sure thing. I'm glad they went with the Happiest Ending possible short of going back into hibernation. It was so easy to have killed off Jim Preston which is the stereotypical ending for this kind of story.
I also appreciate the film more for what it did not have.
No plot twist.
No sinister alien our heroes have to fight.
No Evil Corporation behind it all. Everyone on board wanted to be there. Homestead makes a huge profit, but they aren't EVIL.
No Evil Bad Guy sabotaging the mission.
No ship computer AI 'malfunctioning' to Evil Intelligence trying to kill off our heroes.
