Hot off the presses, from OotS #476...

The Secret Ingredient

Culled from a rare tropical plant found only in a remote area halfway around your local campaign world, this incredibly valuable spice will make almost any savory dish better, when used in moderation.

One dose of this spice added to a dish will grant a +2 circumstance bonus to any Profession (Chef/Cook/Baker/Gourmet) check involving that dish. The dish must be a savory one (as opposed to sweet dishes, as this spice inappropriate for desserts), otherwise its use will incur a -2 circumstance penalty per dose.

Also, too much of a good thing can be disastrous, so overuse of this spice can ruin a dish. Every dose over 1 used in a dish incurs a cumulative -2 circumstance penalty to the Profession check involving that dish, so moderation is encouraged.

Cost: 500GP
Weight: 1 pound (64 doses)

Um, dude, salt is literally everywhere. Good thing, too, or you'd be dead in a month. This is more like saffron (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saffron).

Well, it's pricey enough to be saffron. Did you see Ratatouille?

No, I did not, but do know that if you want a pount of saffron, be prepared to shell out $500-$5,000, depending on the market & the season.

I figured that this item should be comparably expensive. But oh-so worth it, considering the doses-per-pound. It's only 7.8125GP per dose, really.

Considering that it works for entire Profession checks, it has to be Curry.

Tempting to use this for the monster campaign, with the guy who cooks people.
