Try the "Master Specialist" presclass.

The Dimensional Reach and Summon Elemental reserve feats from Complete Mage provide a +1 competence to your caster level when casting conjuration (summoning) spells.

The Domain Granted Power alternate wizard class feature from Complete Champion lets you pick a cleric domain power in place of your Wizard bonus feats. Pick Summoning (SC) for +2 caster level to conjuration (summoning) and conjuration (calling) spells.

While it's not a feat, the master specialist PrC from Complete Mage will improve your caster level for conjuration spells at level 6 and 9 (in addition to full spell progression and other abilities).

I vaguely remember seeing a feat or PrC or item or something that lets you summon more or better monsters with summon monster (or summon nature's ally?) spells, but I can't remember more than that.

Edit: Found it I think. Ring of the Beast (8000 gp, CCha) lets you cast summon nature's ally spells that are one level higher than they would normally be as long as you could potentially cast a spell of that level. (3rd level summon from 3rd level spell slot becomes a 4th level summon spell, but you must be able to cast 4th level spells.) Not very useful for wizards, since they don't usually get summon nature's ally.

There's the Spellgifted trait (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/buildingCharacters/characterTraits.htm#spellgifted) from Unearthed Arcana.

There's also the +1 caster level stuff that doesn't only apply to conjuration.

The Spell Power ability from the Archmage PrC and an Orange Ioun stone both add +1 CL

Ring of Arcane Power from MIC also gives +1 caster level, at the cost of a mear 20000.

If you want to homebrew something, you can make the ring above apply to only one school for aprox 1/8 the cost. That might be pretty powerful for its cost though.

If I was to branch out as a thief, do you think that Practiced Spellcaster would be worth it? That way I don't loose any effective caster levels and anything I summon still gets to stick around for a bit longer.

It's generally not recommended to lose spell progression. HOWEVER, if you are going to lose spell progression, you should try to recoup some of the losses. Practiced Spellcaster is the way to do that, up to four levels. This primarily matters for spell range and duration, although it does affect a few other variables such as damage, number of effects, opposed grapple checks with Black Tentacles, etc.

Since you are splashing rogue in with wizards (or sorcerer) I'd look into the arcane trickster prestige class in the DMG. It gives both spell progression and sneak attack progression, plus some other neat tricks. It usually requires at least 3 levels of rogue to get into though.

Unseen Seer also goes into that direction.
