This place is just as it sounds. It's Outside!
Want a change of scenery? Go Outside.
Always wanted to visit the beach? Come Outside.
Looking to have a climatic fight on clifftops? Attempt Outside.
Secret meetings being held where there's no cameras? Try Outside.
Want an ambush without nasty base defenses? Yep! Outside.

Any and all are welcome in the wild expanses beyond the reach of civilization. Who's going to keep you out? That's right, no one. You're already out!
Here lie vast expanses, dense forests, towering mountains, dizzying canyons, treacherous dungeons, encroaching jungles, roaring waterfalls, endless wastes, blistering deserts, mossy cliffs, illusionary oases, eldritch moors, flowering bosques, infested hills, cyclopean ruins, weed-tangled gardens, crumbling glaciers, peaceful glades, bubbling tar pits, rumbling volcanoes, teetering hoodoos, honeycombed caverns, dripping grottos, inland seas, grassy knolls, overgrown battlefields, creepy boneyards, guano-covered caves, and so much more!
The sky is truly the limit, and sometimes not even that. If you can imagine it, it's here, and something super cool is probably happening there.

Sometimes, amid the varied and fantastic landscapes, there are very specific places. Places created and maintained by one or two people. These often be visited, but don't forget to give their owner a heads up if you want to explore.

Outside contains various Outside locations! Such as...
Auxiliary MagCave: Magtok
A relic from the days of the Age of Apocalypse, this abandoned cavern was once used by the infamous cyborg Magtok as a back-up laboratory and underground fortress, should Calublufiok have ever stormed the primary MagCave.

Blind Cat's Bluff
A sheer cliff dropoff that travels straight down into the water, this is a favored point of people who commit suicide, romantics wanting to watch the sunset and anyone looking to get rid of evidence. The drop is pretty far and there are rocks at the bottom that spell almost certain doom, so watch your step.

Brillian's Baneful Bestiary
A secret series of caves where a mad scientist lives. A mad scientist who creates mutant attack creatures. These can be purchased for the right price.

Dead Pine Lake: happyturtle
This lake lies in the middle of the forest. On the eastern shore, woodpeckers feast on the dead pines that give the lake its name (http://i431.photobucket.com/albums/qq40/happyturtle-avs/p243360-Delray_Beach_FL-Wetlands_sc.jpg). Sometimes one can find Lady Death here, the Aspect of Eve also known as The Grandmother, or Jedwiga.

Frozen Forest & Hermitage
A large forest of tall trees and once very pretty flowers lies here. The entire forest has been completely frozen over, and a blizzard constantly storms and snows over the forest, but doesn't affect even an inch past the forest border. The forest is still very pretty; the flowers and mushrooms glittering under a frozen layer. The place is pretty safe, if you're used to constant snow and cold temperatures.

Gersemi's Island: Lex-Kat
Now more commonly known as Melody's Island, since Gersemi has long ago retired. Where once was a single hut with a few sheep, now stands a single hut, a barn, a few sheep, and a small tented community of orphans. Gersemi's loom still rests in one corner of the single hut. Melody, like Gersemi before her, is a healer for the surrounding islands.

Katz Motel
Located in the middle of Nowhere, our roadside motel is the only decent place for miles near the Taverna that has a bed. Run by a suave anthropomorphic cat (http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20090705011306/courage/images/b/bc/Katz.png), there is a strict No Dogs policy. A bellhop by the name of Bates is always ready to assist in carrying your luggage. Please ignore his constant mutterings about his mother. Other more unsavory employees can occasionally be found. Please try to avoid eye contact with them.

We at the Katz Motel wish to ensure you have a splendid stay. Any inconvenience due to randomly locking doors, giant spiders, secret passages, vampires, creepy paintings, and the occasional possession and subsequent exorcism are incredibly rare. Just look at our complaint cards! Not a single one mentions dying horribly in their sleep or becoming food for the monster in the basement.

And if you get bored, the owner will always be up for a game of sport, old boy.
((The Katz Motel is a horror filled place with the highest casualty rate of any motel in the Nexus area. Checking in is usually pretty easy and pleasant. Checking out is rare. Anyone can play the Motel and the NPCs within, free to invent their own horror. The NPCs within that can die usually only suffer death temporarily, the supernatural force causing the disturbances bringing them back to life for its own nefarious purposes. PCs get no benefit from this.))
Norosa, Great City of the Elves
A lawful evil city with an incredibly strong military and a very charismatic leader (Archmage Tyrion Lannister). It has a few resisters, but otherwise it is a city of peace and law despite its evil nature.

North Forest
A magical forest with a mythical spring of beauty. A bit like the Weald, but not nearly as dangerous. For starters, you can find your way back out and the pixies aren't cannibals.

Redbrick Falls
A mountainous, cliffy region with a prominent waterfall. A large quarry once was worked in these cliffs. Now, only a few scattered villages and solitary dwellings remain.

Rabbit Hole
The Rabbit Hole is a portal to another world, located in the forest. It looks like an ordinary rabbit hole, minus it being large enough for whoever stumbles upon it to enter. Some say it originated in a different universe, outside the Nexus, others say it shows up in different universes as a result of the Nexus growing.

If found naturally, it will take you to Underside, a world said to lie beneath the Nexus. But sometimes, you'll see a white rabbit in a waistcoat. He looks at the time on his pocket watch, and mutters the phrase "Oh dear! Oh dear! I mustn't be late!" and runs off. No matter how fast you are, you always seem to be just a bit slower than him, which has to make you wonder how he could ever be late for something.

If you follow the rabbit and find The Rabbit Hole, it will take you to Planeside. Where specifically in Planeside depends on who fell through The Rabbit Hole. Either way, you should always survive the fall, even if it seems like you were falling forever. And a warning, it's a one way trip, so if you want to get back, you'll have to do some traveling.

Troll Cave
A cave in a craggy hill. The undergrowth outside is trampled completely flat, and there's not much wildlife. There's a burned patch where a fire is sometimes there. Inside are a few large caves, linked by surprisingly smooth tunnels that look like something big has been regularly pushing through them.

Unnamed Islands
An island cluster forms an archipelago along the coast. Some of the islands are settled, some not, but most are at least occasionally visited by the fishermen who work these waters.

PM the thread maker if you wish to add locations to Outside.

This wide world is empty, except for what you put there. People and places and animals and monsters! You name it. There are a few exceptions, as there always are, but by and large these places are populated with what you put there.

The Creepy Eyed Squirrel - The creepy eyed squirrel does not interfere with anyone. The creepy eyed squirrel is everywhere outside. The creepy eyed squirrel is always watching. The creepy eyed squirrel never sleeps. The creepy eyed squirrel can not be damaged, manipulated, or killed by anyone. The creepy eyed squirrel will eat anyone's very being who attempts to do so. Anyone can god-mode the creepy eyed squirrel. You may pet the creepy eyed squirrel at your own risk.
The Menacing Crabs (https://drive.google.com/uc?id=0B5bKlQSiirV-UFFydVBFWGJEUEU) - These intimidating creatures are usually found by the shore. Beware their mighty pincers. Beware!
The Non-Existent Duck - You'll miss every time you shoot at it, and then your dog laughs at you.

And most importantly, enjoy Outside. That's what this is all about.

Rules and Guidelines
There is very little you can't do Outside. However, like always, please follow the forum rules and general rules of conduct. Respect that a scene may be private or that a plot shouldn't be interrupted. When in doubt, ask someone involved in the OoC thread or by PM.

There are many areas Outside, and people can be in multiple places outside. In order to keep areas Outside separated so there's no confusion, consider bolding your outside location at the start of each of your posts, like so:

[An Epic Cliffside Battle]

The creepy eyed squirrel looks on at the raging battle with contempt! Contempt that only a squirrel with particularly creepy eyes can muster.

[The Beach!]

The menacing craps are not only menacing today, but frustrated. Their every attempt to menace the non-existent duck has met with failure. Some might ask why the crabs are trying to menace nothing, but those people would get viciously pinched.

Note the creepy eyed squirrel and the menacing crabs do not interact because they are in different areas Outside. They could interact, if the squirrel moved to the beach. Of course, various things like telepathy help bypass this.

[Ruins]

When Fayyaad waves his hand in front of the door, the small red lens next to the latch lights up. It seems to scan him, before the latch begins to rotate, and the doors unlock and slide open with an ominous grinding, following by a deep "CHUNK" noise when they're fully open. The interior of the building is only lit by the doorway, and contains what appears to be an elevator platform of sorts. A small console juts up on the far end of it with only two buttons on it, one pointing upwards and the other down. Pressing the "up" button has no effect, while pressing "down" will start the elevator's descent into the ruins.

Dragon's Memory

Maybe it's just a dragon. But it's still T-Shut up, Zebes.
Jace shakes his head. "We are from a land far from your own. Zebes' species was not made by your hand, and has a soul of his own. His kind are very different from your dragons."

Fayyaad enters the ruins cautiously. When he presses the button and the elevator starts going down, he draws his sword with his right hand, while his left hand becomes wreathed with fire. To any observer, the playful and rakish demeanour is replaced by something more serious.

[Dragon's Memory]

"Evidently," the pale fae says, looking down at the battle below. It rages with titanic might, the numberless host of the fae clashing with the giants. Then, the pale fae makes a gesture with the long staff they hold, and the dragon rises. Wings unfurled, it soars towards the giants, unleashing fire. "My Lord, Serpent Crushing the Mountain, was the first to call upon wind and fire and create a dragon. It let us make great strides in our battle with the giants. But why would someone from another world venture here?"

[Ruins]

After a few minutes of descending through its shaft, the elevator descends into a slightly larger room, finally stopping when its platform is level with the floor. It's dark down here, but not completely so, especially with the fire in Fayyaad's left hand. The walls seem to be made of a strange material that seems both metallic and crystalline at the same time. The floor seems to be some form of darker, sturdy metal, and while both the walls and floor are dirty and dusty, they don't seem to be corroded. The room itself is circular, with a hall directly in front of Fayyaad as he faces the elevator's control panel, that curves off to the right. Off in the distance, he might just be able to make out a rhythmic clanking noise, though it doesn't seem to be growing any closer, at least, for the time being.

Dragon's Memory

"It's a long, mildly complicated story. Regardless, we are here. In a sense, you understand. Still, what are we doing here? We were told this ritual was to revive your dragon but a vision wasn't brought up. I don't know what we're supposed to be doing." he asks the fey.

"Dead dragons can be brought back, by calling on the elements in them. Sometimes it's considered better than creating a new one. Odd that the fae would ask you, rather than do it themselves," the fae says. "Did they tell you why?"

[Ruins]

Fayyaad creeps down the hall, sticking close to the wall on his right. He doesn't like how quiet it is here, with only this clanking noise to break the silence.

Idun kind of knows what an hour is. She usually just measures time by the movement of the sun. There's another word that confuses her more though. "Wwwwhhat's a car?"

"O-ooooohhhh." Grace replies, a grin starting to break out on her face. "Oh this is going to be a great day! I get to introduce you to all kinds of things!
Cars are like . . . like a machine that takes you from one place to another place. Just that someone needs to tell it where to go."

[Ruins]

The hall is a bit short, and after rounding the corner, Fayyaad will find a much larger room awaiting at its end. The floor for the first 20 feet or so is flat, then ramps downwards gently towards the other end of the room, where it becomes flat once more. In the middle of the ramped portion of the floor, there is what seems to be a treasure chest made of metal. At one point it was painted orange, but the color seems to have faded slightly to a brownish-tan color. Curiously, its lid sits propped slightly ajar. On the left wall, there appears to be a crack, which widens into hole just large enough to put one's hand into, if they're minded to. At the far end of the room, three doors await, one straight on, and the others, left and right, in their respective walls. The entire room is perhaps 60 feet long, and the ceiling doesn't change height from where it is, allowing more space at the far end of the room. The clanking noise has grown slightly louder as Fayyaad has moved further in, but the source is not apparent yet.

[Degenburg Castle]

Three would be heroes and investigators travel from within the city of Inside down the long dusty road that runs along the northern coast of the Nexus. On one side are rolling fields of long, wispy grass dried out from the winter's cold. On the other, the land falls away sharply, forming deep cliffs that give way to the iron-dark sea below. Wind blows in cold from the ocean, whistling and howling. A storm rages off the coast, a line of black clouds hanging low in the sky, lightning brightening things in a flash of harsh light. Disntantly, thunder rumbles in.

A castle squats on the line between land and sea. Its curtain wall surrounds a village and keep with four towers rising above. The wind's howling increases. Or was that actual howling? Dark shapes may be glimpsed in the tall grass. Eyes reflecting from the shadows of the foreboding forest beyond the fields.

A single guard stands watch at the gate, dressed in leather and grey livery. A sigil is sewn onto his coat, a wolf's head, on one side white with a red eye, on the other tawny with a blue eye. Crossed swords sit behind the head of the wolf, as does a hammer. The young man stands, more alert when he sees people coming down the road.

"Uh huh!" Grace replies with a cheerful grin and a nod. "I mean. There are definitely military versions of cars, but mine is just a cheerful one for just taking a few people around. Maybe carrying food and equipment to and fro.

Fayyaad wasn't expecting a... chest? Looks like one, at least. A bit too inviting for him. He decides to check the crack first. He hugs the wall next to it and sends a small wisp of flame into the crack, peering after it.

Nova_Eclipse
2017-01-08, 05:11 PM
[Ruins]

The crack appears to be empty, with just a small space behind there; as though something strong and savage at one point had made the crack and the hole by slamming a fist or another roughly spherical object into the wall. There seems to be less dust inside than there should, however, as though someone or something has removed something rather recently.

[Degenburg Castle]

A blue streak of light descends rapidly from the sky, widening and materializing into a pair of women near the gate of the Castle, in the road. One is platinum blonde, wearing high-tech black armor that seems to be missing a piece on her thigh, while the other has surprisingly animated white hair that the guard may or may not be able to discern as snakes at this distance.

For Dena, Electra's teleportation is probably a bit disorienting, a white void replacing the familiar surroundings of the Black Dragon's Den for a split second, and then the world snaps back into focus as she finds herself standing in the road before the castle. Electra makes an annoyed face.

"Not quite where we wanted to be, but close enough. I still haven't figured out why it happens, but it's not dangerous. Be right back." With that, the blue beam envelopes her once more, before shooting back up into the sky.

This is ominous. But there's nothing Fayyaad can do here for the time being. He approaches the chest cautiously, and tries to lift the lid with the tip of his sword.

The lid lifts easily, but again, there's nothing inside. The lid is deceptively light; one would think that a chest with such thick metal walls would have a very heavy lid, but this seems to not be the case. The doors in the end of the room seem to be the only thing of interest left.

Fayyaad begins with the door to the left. He tries to get it open and peer cautiously through it.

Nova_Eclipse
2017-01-08, 07:23 PM
[Ruins]

As soon as his hand touches the door, it seems to split in half and each half retracts into either side of the wall with a loud whirring noise. The room beyond stretches back for quite a ways, and expands beyond the door by a good amount. Pillars are visible at intervals, supporting a high ceiling. It's hard to see the back corners from this distance, but he does catch a glimpse of at least two more chests on a dais in the center of the room. The clanking noise is now much louder, and he can see why: a number of robots (http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/megaman/images/0/0a/Horokko.jpg/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/200?cb=20110802222334) are wandering around in the room, seemingly aimlessly. They have four legs, but the legs only seem to have one joint, which leads to a waddling gait that makes a clanking whenever they put their feet down. On occasion, one will drop to its belly with a pneumatic hiss and slide quite quickly to another area, where it will resume walking. Their bodies are best described as bulbous, with a singular spike atop the head, and a large, ruby-like eye centered above an opening like a smile. They don't seem to have noticed Fayyaad yet, though it's probably only a matter of time, as a rough guess places the number in the room at nearly a dozen. A room that large, however, offers ample room for either combat or an attempt at stealth.

Morty
2017-01-08, 07:43 PM
[Ruins]

Those little things don't look very dangerous, but Fayyaad would rather not pick fights that he can avoid. A strangely sensible attitude for him. He ducks behind the nearest pillar and tries to gauge if there's any pattern to the robots' movement.

Nova_Eclipse
2017-01-08, 08:41 PM
[Ruins]

After a bit of observation, Fayyaad can deduce that the robots seem to have a loose pattern, where a set of three will patrol around 1/4 of the room, starting in the corners to reach the middle. As soon as one has made 3 "rounds" in its corner, it will shift to the next corner, and this appears to be timed to minimize the amount of time where two corners have 4 robots patrolling while the other two have only two. They never seem to pause to investigate anything, and they don't appear that intelligent, either, since none of them have noticed Fayyaad in his hiding place. Getting to the dais in the center of the room may be more difficult, though, due to the fact that the robots don't pause during any part of their patrol. There's always at least one that's facing towards the dais as they move towards it in their patrol path. They don't appear to be dangerous, though they are about waist height, not counting the spike on the tops of their heads.

[Degenburg Castle]

A few moments later, the blue beam once more descends from the sky, depositing Electra and Reinholdt neatly next to Dena. The sensation Rein feels is the same that Dena did; a bit disorienting, perhaps, but not sickening. Electra herself seems completely unaffected, but then, she's used to it. She rolls her head around on her neck gently, before looking to Dena.

"Well, are we ready?"

The pale fae grips their staff. Their expressionless face contrives to look concerned, and its body language becomes alarmed.

"Where did you find them? How long as the dragon been there?"

[Ruins]

A difficult decision. The chests are obviously of some interest, but what if they're empty like the last one? The tiefling suspects those machines are more dangerous than they look, as well. Still, no use skulking about. He jumps out of his cover and makes a dash for the dais. He tries to time his movement so that he runs into as few robots as possible on his way.

[The Siege of VIGIL]

Too stunned and beaten down to argue further, Thariza follows her. She does, however, stop to pick up her discarded shield.

[The Siege of VIGIL]

As they descend the stairs, Thariza will see the bodies of more demons which already have begun to break apart, their black essence rising into the air before disappearing. But she will find the bodies of one VIGIL member after the other, if there is any comfort it is that they seem to have all died fighting.
Yet when they reach the courtyard it is as if static blurs her vision for a moment as a pit fiend clad in white armor with a sculpted crown rising on top of its head appears to step out of thin air. It stares at them and then speaks in a fully understandable language. "What experiment is this?"

Fayyaad is indeed able to make it to the center dais, but not without attracting the attention of three of the robots. There's an ominous double beeping noise from each of them, and they turn towards Fayyaad, their singular red eyes glowing with murderous intent. Unfortunately for them, they only have the two speeds, and their faster means of locomotion appears to only work in straight lines. Fayyaad will have a few dozen seconds after reaching the dais to take action against them before they get into any sort of range to attack him.

[Degenburg Castle]

Electra takes the binoculars and looks through them. She does have a zoom function built into her optics, but it's somewhat limited, and binoculars offer better light gathering and more detail. She peers at the guards and other obvious defenses of the castle, noting their locations, before lowering them and offering them to Rein so he can get a look as well, if he wants. Her expression has grown colder as she's observed the castle.

"Alright. Lead on."

Electra just gives him a mysterious smile and a bit of a chuckle.

"Well, a girl has to have -some- secrets, you know." Was that a wink? That was definitely a wink. And the mysterious smile turning into a smug grin. "But they're probably ones best shared later, over a drink, perhaps, along with your interesting theory of how teleporting is cheating. For now, we should focus on the task at hand. This is probably going to feel weird, so try to stay calm."

She moves up, placing a hand on his shoulder, and they disappear once more in that beam of blue light.

Rein breaks into a little smile. "Well, I can't turn down a drink..."

[Degenburg Castle]

Reinholdt doesn't find the trip too bad, having had extensive experience with sudden spatial travel in the past. It's been a long time though, so it still takes a moment to orient himself again.

He thanks Electra, but turns down the binoculars. "Thanks, but I prefer a more direct scouting method. Granted, scouting makes it sound like there's some sort of assault planned." Surely that's not the case. Then again that depends on this Violet person? Maybe she is one of Dena's snakes. If he had a nest of snakes on his head, he'd start naming them too.

To show what Reinholdt means by a more direct scouting method, he starts walking up the road to the castle gate. When he gets close he'll raise his hand and wave a greeting. "Good day fine sir! We seek an audience with your lord."

The guard nods to Reinholdt as he approaches. "Lord Sszinyon should be in the great hall." He points back behind him. "Through the gate and the courtyard to the main doors, then through the double doors on your left, once you're inside."

From the open main gate, Reinholdt and the others will see people in the village preparing for the incoming storm by bringing things inside or tying them down. Straight ahead was the castle's courtyard, with a burbling fountain and an overhanging tree. Through there were the double doors that led to the castle proper.

And here Dena had been planning to see what sort of forces that were inside the castle first, alas. She was rather skeptical towards Rein's approach though, both her and Electra were fully armed, and in her case she could accidentally kill most of the guards by just losing her sunglasses. Were the guards seriously not going to stop and at least take their weapons or something? If they didn't, they were either afraid, or thought they could gang up on them while they were inside castle.

She eyes Electra. "Be alert, this could be a trap. Rein thinks his charisma is going to carry us all the way, but I'm not sure the guards would let us that close to their lord without even taking our weapons. "

The wall of flames will indeed stop the robots, but none of them need to get that close, Fayyaad will quickly find out, as when they get within 15 feet of the dais, each one rears up onto its back "legs", revealing what seems to be a port of some sort. The robots fire small metallic spheres from the port on arcing paths in short bursts, three at a time, aimed at the tiefling, but when the spheres meet the fire wall, they expode, vaporizing themselves in the process. The explosions are very low yield; Fayyaad won't need to worry about shrapnel or concussion, but getting hit by one when he drops his flame wall will be less than pleasant.

In the meantime, he'll find that there are actually four chests up here; one was hidden from him in his previous vantage point. None appear to have been opened; he might be pleased to find that the one he delves into opens easily, and contains what appears to be a rather large pistol, finished in black, with a strange symbol shaped vaguely like an omega emblazoned in dark green around the barrel. In fact, the bore is too large to be a normal firearm, though messing with what seem like the normal controls for its mechanisms gets the entire back of the weapon to slide out, revealing a loading ramp and the empty chamber. There is no magazine, so one must reload after each shot. Curiously, no light can be seen through the weapon if he takes the step of looking through the bore, either from the chamber or muzzle end; the weapon must work on other principles.

The pistol is the chest's only contents; if Fayyaad bothers to try and close the lid of the chest after removing its contents, it will stop just before closing, similar to the empty chest in the previous room.

[Degenburg Castle]

Electra hands the binoculars back to Dena, her expression not changing. Her voice over the comm is cold, detached and professional.

"Unless their lord is so confident in his own power to destroy whatever threat appears before him that the guards are more just there for show. But you're right. Still, only one way to find out which it is."

And Grace gladly explains how the internal combustion engine works! How the engine expends fuel to create the force that, through a long roundabout process gets to the wheels, then the wheels turn, which because of the friction of the road causes the car to move because in a friction fight something has to give, and the car weighs less than the planet, but this doesn't really work where there's little friction like on ice, because then the tires just spin, an- . . .
"And I'm rambling. I'll just show you." With that, Grace turns the key in the ignition, and the car hums to life. Well, if Fayyaad wants to learn about this particular weapon, he's just hit the jackpot. The second chest's contents are three boxes, each one containing about 20 or so shells, each box containing a different color: red in one, blue in a second, and green in a third. The boxes are made of metal, but any markings on them have long since faded away. After removing the boxes, he might note that there's an odd recess in the bottom of the chest: a second compartment. Opening this reveals a 5-shell carrier that can be attached to a belt, filled with 5 shells that are yet a different color: an ominous black. All of the shells are the same uniform size; they lack any apparent primer, but it's obvious which end is which since there's something of a taper to them, and a recessed band near the wide end, obviously meant for the pistol's extractor. There's also no bullet obvious on the smaller end, just a rounded dome that barely protrudes from the mouth of the case, and it's the same color as the rest of the shell.

While Fayyaad extracts his prizes, the robots continue their plodding advance, pausing occasionally to fire their ineffective explosives at him despite the barrier.

"I'm not entirely sure. Normally I get an alert if I get redirected due to a barrier. This time, I didn't," Electra explains quietly, in case anyone can hear them. "Let me run a check."

Her irises will glow briefly while she queries the barrier sensor in her EV unit, and sets up a small alert bubble on her internal HUD. The sensor will tell her if teleportation is not possible due to either technological or magical barriers, such as dimensional lock spells, or specialized force fields meant to deter such travel, though in the case of the former, it won't tell her why she can't teleport, just that she can't. The alert bubble will light up when/if she passes into such fields, and go out once she's past the edge of the effect. Once she's set this up, her irises will stop glowing. While she gets set up, she'll quietly listen to what Dena and Rein work out on Sszinyon, following along if they continue to move.

However, I'm not sure he is all that eager to talk to us if he really did send that assassin, he might even get violent, or we might have to get violent with him. "What Dena said is pretty much it, though I believe our end goal is to get him to recall his assassin and convince him to cancel the hit on Raril, if he indeed did send the assassin. If he didn't, then we need to find out who did, and do the same song and dance. Did I miss anything, Dena?"

[Degenburg Castle]

"I didn't really bring anything along." Dena admits, she didn't have much experience dealing with nobles. Not in this manner at least. She turns to her companion. "And I'm not giving away any of my gear to this guy. But if things do get rough, could you grapple Sszinyon and teleport him into the Riverside office, Electra? I'm sure Rein and I can get out of here on our own if it really comes down to that. Nonetheless, does anyone have anything to offer?"

The door closes automatically after him. Strange that it wasn't locked to keep him in so the sentries could catch him, but whatever this place is, obviously something isn't right with the systems. The robots don't follow him; apparently, they can't open doors, which is handy, if not a little odd in and of itself. Still, Fayyaad has made it back into the main room, in one piece, no less. Two unexplored doors remain, one now straight ahead, and one on his left.

[Degenburg Castle]

Electra shakes her head in the negative, frowning.

"There's a reason I told you to try not to fight it when I teleport you. My system has problems trying to lock on to targets when they're moving around too much, even when I'm touching them. It's a security feature, as much as anything else, and I don't think we really have time to go over the details, but the short of it is that if he's fighting back, I can't teleport him, even if I have him grappled." She looks between the two, and reaches into her gauntlet, pulling out the pouch she had earlier, then shake two more diamonds into her hand. "This is all I have. It was payment for another job I picked up, and I didn't have a chance to deposit it. If it will help get us in the door, let's use it." She offers the diamonds to the pair.

"Alright, sounds good. Then in case he turns on us, we'll try to use him as a hostage for safe passage out of the castle. Got some poison that will make him more agreeable if that happens." The poison she had intended for Adir. "But hopefully everything can stay civil, our primary goal is just talking after all. Yet before we go in there and introduce ourselves, do we claim that Raril died or not? I'd say we go with the truth and say that he's still alive, unless someone has another idea."

The static is gone, yet the VIGIL she was in is gone along with Cessie, the other demons, and the bodies of the VIGIL member. It has been replaced by a gothic version of it, the interior and exterior is now as black as coal, with a black foreboding sky hanging above it, as it a storm is about to break lose.

But before she has much more time to consider this, the demon gestures with its outstretched palm towards her and utters what sounds like a command-word. It is attempting to drain the active magical energy Thariza has charged up, potentially emptying whatever pool of magical resources she uses, as well as removing magical beneficial (as well as negative) effects from her.

[Temple Assault]

As Cessie indicated, the temple is located in a swamp which makes walking to it rather difficult. The ground is soft and muddy, easily giving away for the three as they attempt to move through it with armor and all. One can see why the demons would hide their base in such a place, no one would willingly want to be here. Except the insects of course, swarms of mosquitoes greet them as they traverse through the water, likely using this as some sort of breeding ground judging by how many they are.

But as they walk, they might hear a growling voice coming from what appears to be a extensive root-system. "Pst, pig-skins, you stupid? Come here and hide."

Fayyaad find himself in a long, relatively narrow hall that stretches back several hundred yards. There doesn't seem to be any chests in here, but he might be able to just make out a door at the other end of the hall, if his low-light vision is very good. More worrying is the presence of a number of smaller, floating robots in the same motif as the ones earlier, though these are shaped like an inverted hand fan, with a small spike on the tops of their heads (http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/megaman/images/2/2c/Foo-Roo.jpg/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/200?cb=20090807044734). Each one is about as tall as Fayyaad's forearm, and they float silently overhead in groups of 5 or 10. They don't seem to have noticed him yet, and apparently, the robots from earlier can't communicate with them, either. They're floating high enough that if he's minded to, Fayyaad could probably try to sprint underneath them, though it's hard to tell how fast they can actually move, since each one is simply floating in place. If he takes the time to look around, he might also note that there are a couple more of the holes in the walls like what he saw in the main room: cracks that give way to a hole large enough to put one's hand and arm into. They are roughly half-way down the hall, one in each wall, though, so getting to them without dealing with the floating robots first might be an issue.

[Degenburg Castle]

Electra shrugs, placing the diamonds back into the pouch, and the pouch back into its hiding place in her gauntlet.

"Alright, I'll just hang onto them, then." She looks to Dena and raises an eyebrow at the question. "You said you tracked the assassin here. It stands to reason that he's probably already met with Sszinyon, or whoever hired him. If that's the case, there's no reason to try and claim anything but the truth: that Raril survived the attempt, and we're here on his behalf to negotiate to keep him that way. I don't see a reason in this instance to try and claim anything else, unless you've got a better idea, Reinholdt." She looks to the treasure-hunter, tilting her head slightly in a curious manner.

"I didn't intend to mention that. I may not say much once we get in there; I think you and Reinholdt are going to be better negotiators in this instance than I am, and I'll be trying to watch your backs, anyways."

This is getting quite strange, in Fayyaad's opinion. Whatever happened here must have struck those machines dumb. That, or they normally rely on direct instructions from their creators, who are absent. He doesn't know much about technology. He hugs the wall on his left hand and moves quickly. If the robots react violently, at least they won't immediately surround him.

The flame whip strikes the robot square in its "face". It's a good thing he used an attack that kept some distance between himself and the robot, as it explodes rather violently in a vaporizing fireball that almost reaches Fayyaad, stopping just short of his position. It leaves no trace of the bot when it fades out. Unfortunately, the motion of the whip does alert one of the bots behind him, and it starts closing in on him as well, but the "alert" sound it makes will make it easy for him to deduce where it's coming from, as it's not close.

The first chest contains a rather large, old book. Not quite a tome, but similar in size. The writing inside takes a bit of deciphering, but just by the numbers, it appears to be a log of some sort. Puzzling out the entries might take quite a bit of time, as the book isn't written in a very common language, though if Fayyaad has access to a magical means of translation, it would take considerably less time.

The second chest contains what appears to be the hilt of a sword. A black handle, with a very simple silver cross guard and hexagonally shaped pommel. No blade is present, but then, perhaps it doesn't need one, as at where the blade would meet the cross guard, there is a red crystal, and upon close examination, there's a hidden switch on the cross guard. Pressing it causes a red energy blade to spring to life from the crystal, with the whole apparatus thrumming ominously. It throws quite a bit of light, as well. Despite being an energy blade, the weapon is finely balanced and easy to wield. A fine addition, if one needs a sword.

Now this is a fine find. Fayyaad is used to metal swords, but this looks like it'll do nicely. He closes the chests and goes to examine the elevator. Does it go up, or down?

The elevator seems to be in it upmost position; it has buttons for both up and down, but if the first one was an indicator of how these things work in this place, then it's already in its upmost position, as there's no hole in the ceiling for the platform to rise through. The elevator whirrs for awhile, and finally slowly grinds to a halt in a cavernous, irregularly shaped room, on top of what seems like a large "island" that's raised 10 feet above the lower floor. And it's a good thing, too, because no less than six large, roughly humanoid robots (http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/megaman/images/1/12/Largesharukurusu.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20110803054022), made in the same style as the ones he's seen previously, are stomping around rather loudly on the floor below. Each is a different color, and their legs seem to connect at their shoulders, while their arms end in long, dangerous points. On occasion, one will leap into the air, not high enough to get onto the platform, but high enough that their pointed heads can be seen, as each is roughly 7 feet tall. None seem to have noticed Fayyaad yet. At the longest end of the room, on the lower level, there's another door, and in the space between the wall and the island he's on, also on the lower floor, is another chest. By the way these robots move, Fayyaad most likely won't be able to outrun them in a straight line, though they don't seem to be that dexterous, so he may be able to outmaneuver them, if they don't corner him first.

The other will make a lunging motion, skidding on its feet with the points on its arm aimed straight at its comrade's body. Obviously, it intends to skewer both its comrade and Fayyaad on the points and rip them to pieces, as that part of the robot's arm spins quickly, lending it more penetrating power. The third alerted bot is closing in from the rear, but isn't as close as the two coming from the front, and Fayyaad will have several seconds after the first two attack before the third will be a threat.

The robot isn't dexterous enough to alter its course through the air as Fayyaad leaps off and creates the beam. The robot's armor is thick, yes, but not thick enough to prevent it from getting a new gash along the side of its body, and the impact is enough to alter its momentum that when it lands, instead of clubbing its comrade, it lands on top of it, knocking both robots over. The skewering robot slams into the heap, causing the one Fayyaad was clinging to to explode, an explosion which engulfs the other two before they can react, destroying all three, sending machine parts flying everywhere, along with small pieces of blue and purple crystals.

The door opens easily, in the same manner as all of the others up to this point. This room is rectangular, and the walls have been damaged. Several places hold spider-cracked impacts roughly the size of a human fist, or a human skull. The damage doesn't appear to have been recent, but there was obviously a battle of some sort here at one point. In the far left corner sits a computer terminal, still active after however many years ago this place was abandoned. In the opposite corner sit two more chests. The glow from the terminal's display casts the room in an eerie light, but perhaps it holds some answers about this place.

The gnoll glares at the newcomer, even more pigskins? Well, three was a bit few, but these people were crazy in more than one way.
Steve will see that there isn't anything evil lurking in the trees. They can't see the temple yet though, there are trees and vegetation in the way, not to mention a lot of water.
"Not underwater, but entrance is." The gnoll gestures towards the sky. "Big temple appeared here months ago, then it start to sink into swamp, so the dark ones attempt to clear it, but it just turn into lake." He explains. "So now they use it, putting nasty creatures of mist down there to protect it. We do not what they look like, they hide in the mist."

[The Siege of VIGIL]

The demon raises its hand while uttering another spell when a cold metallic voice calls out. "That's enough Sargon. This battle is now over. You have done good."

The fiend lets out a loud growl attempts to slam Thariza in the stomach and then disengage as a metallic creature that could be best described as a mix between a hyena and a spider approaches the demon from behind. Thariza might notice that VIGIL is now gone and they're now in a black room with these blue crystals socketed into the walls.

Can't you hide from animals? Maybe if they're animals, you can swim down underwater and stab these monsters while you are at no danger from them. Unless you have a better idea." He then addresses everyone and says "I can't see anything, there's probably too much non evil vegetation screwing up my search. Either that, or it just might be giant fish. And before you ask, I am not being redundant or obvious when stating non evil plants. I've seen them before, and it would be easy for them to hide here too."

To be fair, the temple was teleported there, and they hadn't meant it to be in a swamp in the first place.
But with that in mind, it should be noted that they still can't see the temple yet, nor anything that resemble a lake. There is large pools of water, with streams running in-between them, but nothing that could be accurately described as a lake.
Whatever Steve could determine, he hasn't actually reached the temple, or the lake which formed underneath it, yet.
"So you can take temple on own now? Hmph, we still get spoils. We found it first." The gnoll insists as it gets down on the ground. "You get... four parts of ten, yes? Very fair." He lifts four fingers into the air. "Good. Agreement made, now temple is close." The gnoll pushes away some hanging vegetation with his spear and steps further into the swamp, gesturing for them to follow. "See mist? That's the area where temple is." They can see mist in the distance. If Steve would use his evil-o-vision on the mist he can see that it radiates intense evil.

It should be noted that the area in front of them is nearly just mud and water. Someone heavy, like say, a giant, someone in heavy armor, or a horse, are likely to start to sink into the swamp if they move across it. The gnoll, dressed only in rags, can freely move across the swamp however.

The demon called Sargon steps back, rubbing the shoulder Thariza kept hacking on as it winches in pain. "I'm not under your command, Soghv, and we have better things to do." It says with a growl.

"Once I'm done." The golem-thing replies as it turns all its six eyes towards Thariza. They glow with a pale blue light, and suddenly the golem-thing has been replaced by a male Charr dressed in a black robe. "Hello, Thariza. [Ruins]

The logs only have a handful of entries, and display in an order of oldest to newest, with the two newest displaying date tags that are gibberish compared to the others. The date codes don't match ones used in the Nexus, so it's a good bet this ruin came from some other dimension. The first three are relatively boring, just technical descriptions of equipment in the ruins, along with power classes and other things that don't make much sense without more context that isn't provided, though Fayyaad can glean from them that this was a back-up extradimensional research facility at one point in time. The last log with a sensible date code mentions the facility being sealed for storage and automated sentries linked to something called 'System HQ' being stationed there.

The next entry, the first with a gibberish date code, however, is much more useful. It's written in a completely different style, the text of which displays as though the computer is having difficulty reading the memory where it resides, though the text appears complete:

Date: )*(&&%$%
Entry: We've managed to contain the entity here, though it's come at great cost. We're lucky Medea was able to tell us about this place; without the equipment, we'd have no chance to seal it. Now comes the difficult part: getting him into the portal. Gravity says he should be able to hold the host until the sealing can be done, and Sechs has volunteered to act as bait to get him in the right place. We're only going to get one shot at this, and after the others' sacrifice, we have to make it count. The Xar have been taking turns acting as sentry while we get set up for the final phase, knocking the creature back into the four or so rooms adjacent to the portal chamber and keeping it out while we work, but even they are beginning to fatigue. It's only a matter of time before they fall. We must hurry, or this will be the end.

The following entry is much more broken. The system seems to have trouble displaying it all, and after a few minutes of viewing, the system will crash back to the menu that came up when Fayyaad first accessed the terminal. Still, what he can get is useful enough:

Date: !@#%$
Entry: !@##$%@#$ successful. The entity is trapped, though two of the Xar Masters were killed, along with Gravity and Sechs. #@$@#$%@#$!$#%^^&&*% Jubei says even through all of this, the seal isn't permanent. By his estimation, it will take the entity roughly 100 years, but it will eventually devour the dimensional locks that imprison it. He says he's got a plan, but he will need to have us seek other Xar to help. I don't like this one bit, but there's no going back. We've managed to buy Terra some time. I just pray it's enough. The way @#$%#evourer destroyed #@$@, I'm not sure who else could stand against it. This is all we can do. If you read this, @#!$@#%$^#$%^&&^*!@#$ on't @#$%$# refractors. And @#!$$%$#. G0012341234.

Well, this just got complicated.

He adjusts his angle and posture relative to the magical thrusters on his hands and feet so as to start slowing down and come on a course that will intersect with the smaller tow-ship. He aims generally for the cockpit, keeping an eye out for hatches or gaping holes in the side of the hull.
A message is sent down to his helpers on the Nexus surface. "You seeing this? It's pretty huge; I don't think I'll be able to push it into orbit or anything myself."

And there is one other person on board. A baby. So I am going to have to ask you to tell me a little more about you before I open that hatch you are heading towards."

Fayyaad shrugs and leaves the room. He doesn't have much time, clearly, but he also has little idea where to start looking. He enters the room immediately adjacent to the one he just vacated. This one contained vital information, so maybe the others are worth investigating too.

The room adjacent to the terminal room is also damaged fairly heavily, marked with old burn holes and score marks in the walls. There is no terminal here, and, oddly enough, no robots, either, but four chests are placed against the back wall. There's also a scattering of broken machine parts on the floor; most are too badly damaged to be of use other than as scrap. They almost look as though they've been torn with teeth. Perhaps the chests will contain a map or some other useful documentation.

The first chest contains nothing more than a large shard of a green crystal; it's obviously been broken off of a much larger piece, but it glows with an odd light. The second and third contain keys like the one he found earlier, only these are green and red, respectively. The last is more useful. It contains two books, both written in languages Fayyaad can understand. They're both beaten up, but still readable. The first is a book entitled "Holon Machines: Design and Construction" It's an engineering primer into building machines that use what the book calls "Quantum Refractors", crystals that release a high energy field that can be captured and used to power machinery when spun. The book goes into quite a few details and has some basic schematics as well as a few theories. The book does not mention how these crystals are made or produced, however. The second book is a log book of sorts, detailing repairs made over the course of about 90 years or so (the dates probably won't make much sense to Fayyaad, but the writer occasionally made reference to earlier entries as being 10 or 20 years in the past). Amid the technical jargon, Fayyaad can deduce that the facility's dimensional equipment and power system was upgraded numerous times in an attempt to buy more time to keep what the writer refers to as "The Entity" locked up, and that at the time of the last entry, a 1% reduction in the system's reserve power would take approximately 5 years, give or take a few months. This, the author estimates, is the current limit of their technology, and they obviously hope it will be long enough that a more permanent solution can be found. It's difficult to tell how long this book has been sitting since it was last written in; it was obviously damaged at some point, though whether it was during the author's lifetime, or after they died or abandoned the book, is impossible to tell.

Most of it says nothing to Fayyaad. He comes from a very low-tech world, and this is all black magic. Still, he can deduce that the facility has been here for a very long time, and that the power won't go out in a matter of hours. Can he do anything about the entity trapped here? He doubts it. If all those people, with all their technology, could only trap it, it's unlikely that he could have any impact. Perhaps he should inform one of the peace-keeping groups of the Nexus about it. HALO, maybe? They felt like the kind of people to be interested in it, during his visit.

All that aside, he has a job to do. The tielfing goes to check out the other two rooms. The ones he's been in contained important information, so he's hopeful for the others.

The room opposite the terminal room seems to have been used for several things at one point, with the last being some sort of living quarters. A bed frame and the remains of a box spring occupy one corner, while a metal workbench occupies the length of the wall next to the door. There are no chests in here, and most of the tools are missing, though there are several red crystals, spherically cut, resting the bench. They probably look familier; the robots he's been encountering have eyes that look exactly like the crystals. There's not much else of interest left in this room other than the crystals.

The room adjacent to the bedroom seems to have been a kitchen of sorts; there's a refrigerator, though it isn't running, a stove, and what seems to be a small power generator in one corner, though it obviously isn't working any more, as the fridge is plugged into it. There's also an odd-looking box with a spigot on the side; probably for doing something with water, though exactly what is hard to tell. A few pots and pans are scattered about on the floor, as though whoever lived here last left in a hurry and didn't bother to clean up. Nothing else of note is visible.

The hallway itself has a door near the kitchen that most likely leads deeper into the facility.

I tried to run but they had hit me with some sort of long range energy weapon that had disrupted lots of things including my hyperspatial engine so I couldn't just jump away. They had better sub light engines and hit me with some laser fire that fried a dozen other things. Then they boarded. I tried to hold them off but couldn't, so I tried something desperate. I got the hyperspatial engine to jump us, no safety buffers and docked to another ship, it should have killed us, but i got lucky. It took half the ship docked with me. Inside the wound there is still one small and dozens of tiny pieces of a bullet in her. That is what caused the infection that is removed. The elevator whirrs to life and descends for a long time. Ten minutes after he hit the button, the elevator finally whirs to a stop in a round alcove facing yet another long, wide hallway. The ceiling here is cathedral-like, several stories up, and there are side hallways that branch off of the main one, made immediately apparent, due to a pair of massive robots (http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/megaman/images/8/82/Hanmurudoll.jpg/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/300?cb=20110805193247) that seem to be patrolling them. Neither seems to have noticed Fayyaad yet; indeed it seems they don't deviate from their set patrol paths, though one always seems to be crossing the hall while the other is hidden from view, though Fayyaad can always hear the second slamming its arms away. The floors here must be nearly indestructible to put up with this sort of abuse for decades or even centuries.

Beyond the massive robots and their halls, Fayyaad might just be able to make out that the end of the hall opposite the elevator seems to open into a massive room that he won't be able to see to the other end of. Getting there might require some heavy firepower, though.

[Degenburg Castle]

Reinholdt will hear various normal things from the crowd, just regular castle gossip and day to day talk. The crowd, mostly serious looking adult men, quieted when the doors were pushed open and the newcomers entered. The people move away from the center of the room, clearing the way from the door to the dais at the far end. The room was a large hall, arrayed with a few groupings of tables and chairs, and decorated with thick furs and other trophies from the hunt. The light was low, the room lit only by a few ensconced candles, with more set out on the tables. Braziers burned low, giving off warmth, but not much light.

Sitting in a well of shadow at the top of the dais was Sszinyon. The drow's blue-black skin had a touch of grey to it, and his white hair was cropped short. He was dressed in fine clothes in shades of black and grey, including a heavy cloak lined with white fur. He was armed, as well, twin swords hanging from his belt along side a matched set of repeating hand crossbows. A knife was tucked into one fur-lined boot, and it was doubtless he carried more than what could be seen.

The drow took in the newcomers and spread his hands wide, a smile crossing his face. Two rows of pointed teeth could be seen as he spoke. "Who are you and what has brought you to the hospitality of my hall?"

She looks around with bright blue eyes that share little in common with her mothers dull brown ones. She seems extremely curious about this strange new ship and mom like things that are obviously not mom. She openly stares at Cloud.

Now that they're safe inside, the hatch swings shut and screws itself into place, with Cloud going to double-check that it's in place.

The obvious place for Naftly to put things would be the little rack where extra pressure suits and emergency supplies rest, just forward of this hatch.

Cloud turns to wave at Eveland in her little dome as the shuttle starts to accelerate, turn, and begin the trip downwards.

Eveland ducks down like she is going to hide when she is waved to. But her eyes visible in the glass not wanting to look away completely. She know this game though, so she raises her hand in something that sort of resembles a wave in return. Maybe a little too much "give me" fingers like she was trying to grab at him.

Naftly quickly stores her items in a neat little cube on the rack. She would play a great game of moving truck Tetris. "Nice shuttle."

Unfortunately, there's not much to the alcove: it's just a rounded recess set back into the wall so the elevator will be largely out of the way of the larger central hallway it faces. At least the big bots seem to be largely oblivious to Fayyaad so far, though that probably won't last should he get too close to their patrol paths. Closer examination of the floor leading from the elevator towards the halls where the sentries patrol reveals that what appears to just be an accumulation of dust is actually faint scorch marks, suggesting some sort of wide fire or energy-based weapon was once fired straight down the hall past the sentries, perhaps at them, or to block them in; it's difficult to tell. Perhaps there is something in an unopened chest in one of the rooms he was unable to fully explore due to the other sentry robots?

[Degenburg Castle]

Dena does not bow, she found no reason to. She had never dealt with royalty much, and she had yet to see a reason to treat them differently than everyone else. Wasn't that a form of... -ism thing? Treating people differently like that? Whatever.
She does respectfully nod once he has finished speaking however. "I'm afraid we come bearing grave news, your brother, Raril, has been the victim of a assassination attempt. Thankfully we managed to save him, yet the assassin still remains at large. I am Dena Xifhara, lieutenant of MERC, and I am leading the investigation of this foul crime." If the other two wanted to introduce themselves, Dena pauses to let them.

Jaccalish looks away. "I have you know that I don't care for it, the violence I mean. Those I guide only bring me corpses which in turn brings people like you. Not exactly ideal for finding out the greater truths." It turns to look at her. "But speaking of which, I need to get you out of here. Naftly nods and opens a panel under the dome. There seems to be a lot of machinery packed into the base of this stroller. Life support, propulsion, sensors for both in the pod and out, and several inertial dampeners that seem to have recently been added wherever they could fit. Those dampeners are what she checks for heaven knows how many time (13th).

Electra's cold, calm expression doesn't change as she glances at the court as they shift uncomfortably, before bringing her gaze back to Sszinyon. She doesn't say anything, though she is listening intently to the drow's response to Dena and Rein in order to gauge how accurate their suspicions are.

The first chest in the terminal room seems to contain a rather nasty weapon. It appears to simply be the hilt of another energy sword, decorated in heavy gold with a diamond-cut ruby as the pommel, but when activated, it unfurls a glowing energy bullwhip, all of 15 feet long. There's an extra switch on the hilt as well. Pressing it sheathes the whip in crackling lightning, and cracking the whip when it's charged thus releases a powerful lighting bolt in whichever direction it's cracked in. A powerful weapon, and one that will take a bit of practice to master, but the reward will be worth it.

The second chest contains a bit more straightforward firepower. A shoulder-fired micro-missile launcher lies in the chest, with about 20 micro-missiles. It's actually broken down into two pieces for storage, but Fayyaad can probably figure out how to assemble and load it. The missiles are marked as high explosive. Whoever was living down here didn't mess around when it came to personal protection. But then, with how aggressive the guardians are, perhaps they needed it.

Felandria looks around apprehensively.

Keep on your watch, there's unfriendlies out there.

Anyone recognize that sound?

Wenomir puts his hand on his eyes and his shoulders tremble for a moment with barely-retrained anger.

"It's a helicopter. The last thing I expected to meet here, but I should have expected several more pointless distractions before we actually get there. Hopefully it's just an illusion meant to confound us. Let's figure out how to cross the lake."

[Ruins]

That's... probably helpful. Hopefully Fayyaad doesn't blow himself to pieces trying to use it. Is it enough to get past the enormous robots? He's not sure, so he keeps backtracking towards another chest he remembers passing by. In the room with the humanoid guard robots.

As Wenomir moves, several things happen at once, first the ground underneath him collapses as the ground itself attempts to swallow him whole, the mud itself pulling him under. At the same time a powerful fireball is launched out from the mist into the middle of the group and explodes with a devastating force. Anyone caught in the blast wave will likely, depending on how close they were to it:

1. (Direct Impact) Be hit with the full force of the explosion, which will likely throw them a few meters to the side while scorching their gear/body and might break a number of their bones, and blind them.
2. (Close) Be pushed to the ground, and be blinded, likely suffering injuries as standard body armor isn't made to block explosive force.
3. (Far) Be staggered by the force of the blast wave and possibly be blinded.

Then finally some kind of spell (curse) is cast on the group which, unless resisted, will cause them to perceive everyone in the group as demons, and will hear anything that they say as some form of demonic gibberish for the duration of the curse.

Steve is hit by the fireball and hits the ground hard. Although nothing is broken and he suffered no burns due to his armor, the force hurt him bad. The flash of the fireball also temporarily blinds him. He shouts "Medic!" and lays on the ground. He looks around and prays "Bringer of Justice, please lend your servant your sight." (Detect Evil) and looks around for any hostiles. He would lay hands on himself, but as of now, he is trying to stay from collapsing.

((If you are wondering why the Detect Evil is different, it's because my character doesn't "cast" divine spells. He asks for them, and then his god gives him the requested power. They are not given beforehand))

Sszinyon chuckles, a rich dark sound. "It is very simple, you see. I gave the order for my brother's death." His red eyes glitter in the candle light, daring his guests to challenge him for this declaration.

Dena can't help but to smile a bit, she had figured it wouldn't be too hard to get a confession out of him. If his people were anything like hers, then sibling killing wasn't exactly frowned upon if you came out as the winner. In addition, she knew that almost boastful tone, she had heard it before when her sister had declared herself matriarch of her tribe. But this time she at least wasn't related to the speaker.

"Well then." Dena replies, dropping the polite act. "So how do we convince you to call off the bounty?" She eyes the guards, this could get messy.
