Chapter One

Charybdis—Militia R&D Facility
12 April, 07:22

Rain falls in heavy sheets, half-obscuring your surroundings behind a shifting screen of cold water. The grey clouds don't help things, blocking enough of Charybdis' pale yellow sun to make the early morning almost feel like night. You're all warm and dry inside your titans, but the same can't be said for the Militia soldiers busy directing the loading truck bearing the large shipping container that, so you've been told, holds the thing you've been tasked with seeing safely out of this place--whatever it is.

The grunts go about their task with stoic commitment despite the weather, heads held high under their waterproof ponchos as they escort the truck along the tarmac of the base's attached airfield. A newly-arrived transport waits with its bay door open to receive the precious cargo, more soldiers standing guard around it. Despite the apparent calm, a grim air hangs over the proceedings. The local personnel seem on edge, and eager to have this over with.

"How's it look out there, pilots?" comes a gravelly male voice over your comms. That's Lieutenant Chen, commander of the lab's security forces. Your past work with the Militia has brought you in contact with more than a few officers who were none too happy to have mercs muscling in on their rightful responsibilities; Chen seems to have moved past that long ago, and acted nothing but grateful for the extra help over the past week. His subordinates seem to feel the same, when they're not being scared of you--you can't help but get the sense most of them have never worked with pilots before.

Only a few more minutes, and your work here will be done. Then you can collect your pay and head off for some well-deserved rest and luxury.

Alright, go ahead and introduce your characters, and say where you're set up and what you're doing. The base has three titan-accessible zones: the outer perimeter, the airfield, and the roof of the main building. You should be in one of the latter two, standing guard somewhere. I'll provide more details of the area if they become necessary, not that they will at any point in the immediate future :smallwink:

Oh, and in case I haven't made it clear yet, while your titans are on-screen, you should write for them as well as yourselves. You know them far better than I do, after all.

On top of the main building, Hawk sits comfortably inside his titan Ex-2125 or as he likes to call her, Exuberant. Crouched down is a sleek black titan with four blue stripes, two on each shoulder, with an impressive array of jet boosters aligned across its back. Held in the right hand is an slim, but impressive, minigun-style weapon; the barrels resting on the wet roof. The left hand supports the titan in its hunched position, and if you look real carefully you might make out a strange dagger housed on the inside of the titans forearm. Designed to cause wicked internal problems against enemy titans.

He is hoping the lower profile will help obscure them from potential enemies and he also hopes to be in a position where he can utilize his Jump Jets to quickly reinforce any location on base that comes under attack.

Hawk keys into the com and responds with his typical, cocky attitude "Looks fine from up here, but man I don't envy you out in this rain hah. It would really mess up my hair."

Before Hawk cuts the com Exuberant adds in "All systems are nominal. Don't worry mister! We are here for you!" in a cheerful, peppy tone. "Exuberant! What did I tell you about talking over the com during missions?..." the conversation trails off between the two of them.

VE-0239 "Venus" loomed a short distance from the Militia Soldiers, standing tall. The titan's massive frame was slicked with water, rivulets running down the white paint, contrasted darkly with the navy blue, nearly black in the stormy weather, hammer emblems on either shoulder and the faceplate. A faint hum was audible to the nearest soldiers, as well as the faint reek of ozone, coming from the Tesla gun gripped by the titan. Amon sat in the pilot's seat, helmet off and sipping from a thermos he kept below his chair, as his still-sharp eyes surveyed the militia soldiers.

Hearing Hawk's voice, he flicked on comms, "You could join them out there if you so desire, Hawk. But aye, it looks fine from the airfield as well." He turns off comms, sipping from his thermos again.

Venus spoke, her voice reserved, belying the titan's hotshot nature, "This should not be much longer, Amon? I do wonder what we are transporting from a backwater such as this."

Amon sighed, shrugging, "It should be a few more minutes, and then wrap-up. Oddly easy, for our reward, methinks. The mission briefing didn't cover what it was, perhaps due to security concerns. I feel that they would tell us if they saw fit to do so, and that is their judgement."

WE-7391 "Westley" sits on top of the main building as well, antennas fully extended as Emerald runs sweeps for the group. One hand almost bristles with painted-on hazard markings, while the other braces the titan against the roofing. Matte black paint completes the image of an old, well kept up war machine. All clear so far, ma'am. Westley snaps, as Emerald does her own checks. Her flight suit is still damp from an outing earlier that day, and she blows a hair out of her eyes absently, tapping at AR figures. Looks clean from what I can see, guys. Let's avoid calling it a done deal till we get paid, mmm? Bad luck at home, that.

Standing about 25 feet tall as it patrols the airfield, a casual observer might easily mistake FA-1138 for a bog-standard Atlas, albeit one repainted in an ostentatious red and gold color scheme. Someone paying a little more attention, on the other hand, would note that a normal Atlas doesn't have quite so many missile ports, not to mention the main gun that seems overly large even for a titan to carry.

Normally Robby Levine would be outside somewhere nearby lending an extra pair of eyes and ears, but the rain was much too heavy for that.

"I'm with Emerald, for all we know a huge crew's gonna show up at the last second for us to blow to Hell and fill with lead."

To anyone without a death wish (which is most people), Robby probably sounds a little too excited at the thought of that.

"Or with tungsten, for those of us who aren't savages."

"Yeah, yeah, I gotcha. Seriously though, you gotta have some lead somewhere, right? Like for shielding or something?"

"Hm, you might be right, I am detecting a large quantity of heavy metal near the headrest in the cockpit."

"Haha, very funny FA, I'll have you know that Kyle checked me out just the other day and said I'm totally normal."

"Well if Dr. Decker said so then it must be true. Over and out."

"Don't jinx it, guys," comes a feminine chuckle--Mandy, on station back at the Babylon, which waits in dock at the spaceport a few miles from the base. "You get shot up, I'm the one who has to tell Aaliyah she's got more work. You ever had to bring her bad news?"

Chen doesn't laugh. "Let's just hope it stays this quiet," he says fervently. "I'll breathe easy when that bird takes off, but--"

As if on cue, from inside the main building, the buzzing of an alarm begins to sound. "Aw, hell!" the Lieutenant spits. It doesn't take long to realize what's happening; the sound of ships jumping into atmosphere might sound a lot like thunder from down on the ground, but thunderclaps don't come in that quick succession.

"Incoming IMC!" Chen announces as the soldiers at your feet spring into action, squad leaders calling out orders. "Drop pods and multiple titanfalls detected."

"Crap, seriously?" cries Mandy, suddenly sounding worried--over the connection, you hear a clattering that sounds like her bolting upright in her seat. "The hell's with that timing?"

Overhead, the sound of falling drop pods joins the rain and wind, growing steadily louder. Seems you only have a moment to prepare. Below, the Militia infantry rush to take up positions on the base perimeter, digging in and manning the anti-infantry turrets surrounding the airfield; they seem prepared to hold their ground, but with a titan assault incoming, they won't stand a chance without support. Looks like it's time to do your job after all...

Alright, you have one round to make whatever preparations you want before the enemy arrives--moving around, creating aspects, whatever.

Weather conditions are unfavorable for combat--it's Hard to See Through the Rain.

As explained, the base has three titan zones: the perimeter, the airfield, and the roof of the main building. The perimeter is Wide Open, clear of any real cover, and screened by a line of Anti-infantry Defensive Emplacements--no threat to you in your titans, but they'll block hostile infantry from approaching the facility, as long as they hold. The airfield is crowded with vehicles and outbuildings, making it Tight Quarters with Plenty of Cover. The roof has No Easy Ground Access for Titans, so getting up there will be hard if you're not there already; however, it provides an Elevated Firing Position.

Alright, buckle up and check your guns, cowboys. We're doing this.

He turns off comms and addresses Venus, "Alright, prep the tesla gun, and be on guard. We're gonna meet up with Robbie and stick to his back like glue. I don't want none of this lone hero business, specially when you got an old man like me cooped up inside. You got me?"

Venus replied, her electronic voice taking on a pitch that would imply excitement, "Aye, Amon. Lets fry some IMC, why don't we?"

Turning his attention back to the situation on hand Hawk speaks to Ex-2125 "Alright Exuberant, I want all systems battle ready and on standby. I want to hit 'em hard as soon as they show up. We help hold down the infantry until the titans appear. Then we'll coordinate and assist the others in ambushing them." he states coolly.

"Of course Hawk. I'll be ready!" She replies in her usual energetic fashion as she diverts power across her frame resulting in a dull hum with a few faint crackles of electricity. Despite her confident words she silently hopes her power core doesn't act up again.

The AC unit proves just as good a bit of cover as it appears, giving Emerald a clear line of sight all the way past the base's defensive perimeter. However, though she can now clearly see the drop pods' entry flames as they plummet towards the surface, their enormous descent speed plus the rain and clouds prove too much interference for Westley's sensors; he can't get a solid lock on them.

You succeed in finding A Good Bit of Cover, but Westley fails to obtain a Sensor Lock.

Amon sighed, angrily this time, "These schmucks have to have the worst timing. Robby, if you would meet up with me and Venus, we'll be taking point for this situation.

The grunts in Venus' path quickly dive out of the way as the titan moves to join up with her teammate. "Friendly titan coming through!" you hear one of the squad leaders call out. "Stand clear for support!"

You manage to get in a good Squad Formation.

Hawk flicks the com "You know Robby, you could have jinxed us with something a little nicer. Like... turning the rain into money or maybe having a job go as planned for once." he chuckles out loud, his tone obviously playful. "Oh and Emerald? I have to say the rain-soaked look suits you."

As Exuberant gets into position and runs her diagnostics, the various indicators on Hawk's cockpit HUD come up green one by one. All the titan's systems are good to go.

Exuberant runs her systems check and confirms that she's Battle-ready.

"Oh come on Hawk, you didn't really want this job to be boring, did you?"

Robbie's own excitement is palpable.

"I know this may surprise you, Robert, but it's perfectly normal to not like being shot at. Hell, I don't like being shot at and I'm an unstoppable death machine. Notice to Overcome Hard to See Through the Rain: [roll0]

As FA mentions his sensors, his cockpit visual feed flickers momentarily, HUD readouts confirming that the titan is recalibrating his sensors to the weather conditions. Robbie, you see the screen segments cycle through various sensor types before the display clears again, your motion tracker clearing of the interference from the rain.

You succeed in overcoming It's Hard to See Through the Rain.
You and the Militia finish getting into position just in time--the last few friendlies dive for cover as the drop pods slam down beyond the defensive line, sending up sprays of mud and thunderous noise. Five in all, each, you know from experience, carrying a fireteam of up to six.

"All units," Chen barks over the comm, "our priority is the cargo--we can't let the IMC capture it. Hold them off until it's loaded and the transport takes off. Weapons free, engage at will!"

You've all seen IMC forces commence an assault before; they always do it the same way, moving in the same formations, like clockwork. Even after so many years of fighting them, the Militia still can't match the efficiency of their training--though it does tend to make them somewhat predictable. As soon as they clear their pods, the grey-uniformed infantry dash for cover, the first to find it opening fire on the turret emplacements. The Militia respond in kind, the sound of gunfire nearly drowning out the rain.

Before you can move to join the infantry battle, however, the drop pods are followed by a second set of impacts. From a distance, the four objects had appeared to be more drop pods, but once the mud spray of their landing clears, and they make to unfold and stand up, you can get a better look at them: Reapers. Swiveling on their too-short legs, the drones' bodies scan the developing battlefield for a moment, before, one by one, each fixes on one of your titans. With a grinding of machine servos, they spring into motion, jump jets flaring as they leap clear of the infantry battle and past the turrets to land among the craft on the airfield, recovering from the landing quickly and training their energy cannons on their targets...

Alright, the battlefield currently looks like this:

Perimeter
Five IMC grunt squads (mobs), six strong each.
Five Militia grunt squads (mobs), six strong each.

Airfield
Amon and Venus
Robbie and FA
Four Reapers

Roof
Emerald
Westley
Hawk and Exuberant

You've fought enough IMC grunts to know they are, as a general rule, Company Men--disciplined and professional, but ultimately motivated by the paycheck. Reapers are a more recent development, Cutting-edge Tech, but you've seen enough to know that despite their bulk, they can be Annoyingly Mobile.

As of now, the IMC grunts are targeting the base's anti-infantry emplacements, of which there are five. Right now, the turret fire is too heavy for them to move up, but if they manage to disable them, they'll be able to move into the airfield unhindered. The Reapers, meanwhile, are each targeting one of you.

Now, to keep us from having to wait for everyone to act in initiative order, I'm gonna ask that everyone just go ahead and post their actions when they can, and I'll sort everything according to initiative once they're all up. For now, I'll roll the Reapers' Shoot attacks with their energy cannons, which you'll need to defend against in addition to whatever else you're doing--those will also resolve in initiative order.

Amon: [roll0]+2
Emerald: [roll1]+2
Hawk: [roll2]+2
Robbie: [roll3]+2

I should also point out something else about the way the scale difference works. Each titan-scale zone is multiple infantry-scale zones, so another effect of getting out of your titan is that your range diminishes--in this case, Emerald, on foot on the roof, can shoot the Reapers on the airfield, but not the grunts on the perimeter.

"Reapers!" Hawk practically spits the name in disgust. "So much for locking down the infantry Exuberant. Slide left under that shot and let's return fire."

"On it Hawk! Let's see just who has the better design!" Exuberant attempts to slide left under the incoming shot while still on one knee. It's a strange motion for sure, but it's quick. At the same time the multiple barrels on her Hi.V.F.S.W spool up as she returns fire in a hail of bullets.

Westley smoothly dodges, sidestepping the oncoming fire. Target sighted. Returning fire, ma'am. Emerald attempts her own target lock, sharing it with Westley, before he fires, periodic "thumps" from his main cannon splitting the air.

I believe that was a success with style on defense, so I'd like to put the aspect Uncanny Grace on Westley.

Amon chuckles, his attention focused on the blurry figures of the Reapers in front of him. It's been a while since he destroyed things like these. Noticing their attack, he grunts out to Venus "Mind the rockets, they'll put a bit of a hurt on ya."

Venus hums in agreement, her tesla gun powering up, tendrils of lightning flicking out of the barrel like a man-made Scylla. She fires, turning the atmosphere to ozone and evaporating the rain near her, a loud buzz permeating the battlefield.

By the time the Reaper nearest to Robbie and FA rights itself from landing, the duo are already sending a near-solid stream of armor-piercing rounds its way. By the time it pulls the trigger on its own cannon they're already strafing it far more nimbly than anything firing such a massive gun should be able to.

"Ha, too slow!"

Before long the tag team is nearly a quarter of the way around the Reaper, which is undoubtedly still in the middle of processing what just happened.

Rolls here (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=21606360&postcount=3). Since my defense is already a success with style naturally I'll let Staggered expire and put Robbie+FA in a Superior Firing Position (boost).

The IMC's latest tech might be quick, but you and your titans are quicker; the energy bursts all go wide of their marks, their impacts against the buildings behind Venus and FA setting fires that are quickly doused by the rain. Despite Emerald not being at her controls, Westley pulls off an especially impressive dodge, thrusters flaring as he spins across the rooftop into a perfect firing position and brings his cannon to bear. The Reaper engaging Robbie and FA can't keep up with their circling; Venus sidesteps the barrage aimed at her and Amon almost as an afterthought.

Even through the rain, Emerald's precisely tuned sensor link interface makes it easy to get a lock on the Reaper targeting Westley, though he doesn't really need any help aiming; regardless, his shots find their mark, perforating the first Reaper's armor and leaving it a wreck. Robbie and FA's target melts just as swiftly under their hail of armor-piercing rounds. Amon and Venus aren't so lucky. Engaging its thrusters again, the Reaper at the other end of the tesla gun's barrel nimbly darts out of the way just as the electric arc sizzles by, quickly righting itself and bringing its cannons to bear again. A moment later, though, it's left the last one standing, as the volley from Exuberant's Hi.V.F.S.W. slams into its ally, sending it crashing down to the tarmac.

Everyone successfully defends. Westley succeeds with style, and gains Uncanny Grace as a boost. Robbie and FA succeed with style, and gain Superior Firing Position as a boost. Amon and Venus succeed with style, and gain a boost of IZ42's choice.

Emerald succeeds in creating a Target Lock, but Westley immediately takes out that Reaper, so that aspect doesn't really have time to stick around. Westley succeeds with style, though, so he gets another boost.

Robbie and FA succeed with style on their attack, and gain another boost.

Amon and Venus miss with their attack.

Hawk and Exuberant succeed with style on their attack, and gain another boost.
"Looks like a good start to me!" Mandy cheers over the comm. "One to go!"

"Take care of it quick, then," Chen snaps, "and give my guys some support. They're getting hit hard." As if on cue, you hear the telltale sounds of Archer missile explosions from the perimeter--it sounds like the IMC infantry are making progress against the mounted guns. "The cargo's being loaded up now. Just a little longer."

Hawk calmly responds into the com, feeling satisfied with the quick destruction of most of the Reapers. "I'm providing cover fire for your troops now Lieutenant. Make sure they keep their heads down, I am terrible at haircuts with this thing."

Shifting focus towards the outer perimeter Exuberant levels her Hi.V.F.S.W. and opens fire at the attacking troops, spraying a hail of bullets into the open field. The weapon fires so fast that it's impossible to make out the individual gunshots. Instead it all blurs together, the loud motor whirring as Ex-2125 'walks' the stream of shells towards her targets.

"Hey Exuberant. You know I never get tired of this gun? If ammo was free I'd just have you shoot it all day long. I could care less what we even shoot it at. Though watching that Reaper get shredded was probably my highlight of the month." Hawk slumps a bit in his seat, relaxing while he continues. "Though this does feel too easy for the IMC. An even fight isn't in their M.O. Let's try and keep an eye out just in case."

"I prefer my Blade, but it's always satisfying to prove the merits of my design! But, if you are worried about the IMC doing something sneaky, why don't you ask Emerald if she and Westley can run some scans? I'm ashamed to admit it but their sensors are much more capable than mine." If a titan could blush, you'd swear she would be after she finishes her last sentence.

"Mostly because I didn't want to give her the satisfaction. You know she'll find a way to tease me about it later." He chuckles. "Sigh, I guess we better play it safe." Smiling to himself he hits the com "Hey guys, when have you ever known the IMC to commit to a fair fight? 4 Reapers versus 4 titans and 5 squads of troops versus our 5 squads of troops? Call me paranoid but Emerald, maybe you could run some scans? We don't want to get blindsided so close to having the job complete." He switches to an overly suave tone for his last sentence. "And y'know I might have to owe you one if you find something."

Venus' tesla gun buzzed with power again, the smell of ozone getting thicker in the air. The interference from the rain made it hard to hit even something as large as a Reaper with her gun, but now that it was fully charged, she'd find it easier to hit the Reaper. She fired again, electricity crackling across the space between the two.

After Venus fired, Amon took the chance to quickly exit from the cockpit, grabbing his Kraber on the way out. He planted firmly on the lip of the door and boosted off, landing on a nearby building as he looked around the battlefield for targets. He spoke over comms, voice calm compared to the thunderous gunfire around him "Sniper Support is ready. Looking for priority targets."

At first, the data from the scans seems to be coming up empty...but a moment's inspection reveals that there's something off about it. No enemy signatures or communications can be detected, but not because there aren't any there--it seems more like something or someone is actively interfering with Emerald and Westley's sensors. Whoever it is, they're damn good, so good that it's hard to even tell there's anything off, but the interference is definitely there. To work like that, they'd have to be nearby, but where, it's impossible to say with this data.

(OOC: Rolls (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=21617747&postcount=13))

The lightning hits its mark this time, the Reaper jerking to a halt and flailing on the spot for a moment as the shock overloads its systems. However, the IMC's latest tech is built tough; in a moment, the drone has recovered, though badly singed. Seeing Amon disembark, it tracks his arc towards his new perch with its cannons, the barrels starting to glow as they charge...

Amon will need to defend against a Shoot attack from the Reaper. See the rolls post I'll link below.

Oh and please note that I chose "In the Zone" for my boost and am invoking it to give an additional +2 to my Shoot. I forgot to mention it in that post.

The lone remaining IMC squad barely have time to poke their heads out and check on the state of their comrades before Exuberant's hail of bullets reduces the bank of their ditch to so much mud, taking them with it. However, no cheer goes up from the Militia forces manning the remaining turrets, because the second wave of drop pods picks that moment to impact--along with five repetitions of a sound you know all too well.

"Reinforcements incoming!" Chen announces, though no one needs it pointed out. The enemy titans are on their feet momentarily, drop shields falling as they ready weapons. All bear the familiar grey paint scheme of IMC professionals. By the silhouettes, it looks like three Brute-class chassis and two Tones, a tried-and-true combination. The Brutes take advantage of their VTOL thrusters to get up close and personal quickly, tying up the opposition while the Tones lay down support fire.

As they ready up, one of the Tones, its insignias marking it as the squad leader, hails you on an open channel. "Wrong job, mercs," she says with an audible sneer. "Your contract's up." With that, the Brutes charge, launching skyward and firing quad-rockets down at FA, Exuberant, and Venus, while the Tones throw down frontal shields and train their long-range cannons on Westley.

Here's all the attack rolls everyone will need to defend against this round. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=21624529&postcount=16)
The battlefield currently stands thus.

Perimeter: IMC infantry, IMC Spectres, Militia infantry, 2 IMC Tones
Airfield: Amon, Venus, Robbie and FA, 3 IMC Brutes
Rooftop: Emerald, Westley, Hawk and Exuberant

The IMC has been relying on the Brute and Tone models as mainstays of its titan arsenal for years. Brutes are what they assign to their greenest pilots, who tend to be Eager to Prove Their Worth to their more experienced teammates; however, their Powerful Weaponry makes them deserving of being taken seriously. Tones are usually assigned to low-ranking officers, who can be trusted to stay Focused on the Job; their main combat asset is their Advanced Targeting Systems, which make it important to keep breaking their line of fire whenever possible.

Hawk responds to the IMC leader on the open channel "Contract over? No I'm just getting warmed up."

The missiles impact the rooftop where Exuberant was standing, but she is already gone. Her Jump Jets in full boost without a moments notice as she attempts to get down to the airfield. "I knew something didn't feel right." Hawk states over the secure channel to the rest of the Immortals. "Amon, Robbie, we are inbound to the airfield. We'll move to ambush the Brutes once we get set up."

This is a little messy, sorry in advance. I will try to explain below.

Ignore the Stealth check, I wrote that before I realized my error with Duck and Weave.

I am spending a Fate point to invoke my earlier Advantage "Battle Ready" to gain a +2 on my Defense roll. Thus Succeeding with Style. I choose to gain the situation aspect "A Ghost Among Us" From Hawk's Duck and Weave Stunt.

Landing safely in the airfield it seems Hawk and Exuberant moved so quickly that none of the IMC seemed to be able to track them. Taking advantage of their stealth Exuberant holds her gun in her right hand, with her left she draws her Saboteurs Blade. Darting between the tight quarters she attempts to strike the closest Brute while they are still unaware.

Pre rolled, just in case (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=21624807&postcount=20)
Will be taking the +2 to the attack roll. Making the Fight total a 4.

If the Crafts check is successful I will give the Brute the "Internal Damage" aspect.

Gonna keep a running tally right now so it's easier to track for this scene.

"Battle Ready" - No Free invokes

"A Ghost Among Us" - No Free invokes (Used the 1 this turn)

Main Building - "Elevated Firing Position"

Airfield - "Tight Quarters", "Plenty of Cover"

Outer Perimeter - "Wide Open"

Weather - "Hard the See in the Rain"

Amon tucks and rolls neatly out of the way of the rockets, opening comms as he does so. He laughs heartily at the IMC woman, "That's not for you to call, IMC snake. I've fought in more battles than you and the rest of your pilots combined." Standing up out of the roll, he lines up a shot on the Reaper that went after him, his Kraber sounding out a report as loud as any Titan weapon. He briefly opens up comms again, addressing Hawk, Acknowledged, but do it quickly. Venus just caught some rockets square."

Venus is not so lucky in dodging, and catches the Rockets across her Front plate. Despite the scorch marks adorning the once fresh paint, the Ogre-class titan is able to shake off the damage enough to return fire, her tesla gun crackling a third time.

Is that a success with style on Athletics, or would that have to be a 5 compared to the reaper's 2?

Westley steps around the incoming fire with grace, returning shots dutifully. Emerald, meanwhile, curses and tries to hack into the hidden comms. They've got good ECM, guys.

[roll0] Westley's Shoot
Westley succeeded with style on one defense, gaining Style and Grace
Westley now has Style and Grace and Uncanny Grace.

Second verse, same as the first. Between Robbie's reaction speed, FA's surprising agility, and the subtle destabilizing effects of high-speed tungsten, the Brute's attempts to land a hit are over before they start. Frankly the duo aren't sure why it even tried.

Rolls. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=21646485&postcount=22)

If attack succeeds with style then I'm leveraging Robbie/FA's excellent strafing technique to get Right in the Middle of the action.

Invoking Staggered for +2 to Defend so the Brute misses.
