I'm running a Pathfinder game, and one of the players asked if they could replace the benefit of Spirit Sensing Stance (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/path-of-war/disciplines-and-maneuvers/veiled-moon-maneuvers#TOC-Spirit-Sensing-Stance) with the Empathy (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/psionics-unleashed/psionic-powers/e/empathy) psionic power, using a Standard Action to activate it and focus on a target.

It looks like a roughly even trade, but I'm not entirely sure. Any thoughts?

I personally would not allow it, but then I dislike allowing players to greatly deviate from the character processes set forth. Allowing players to pick and choose their abilities at will, might as well toss the book out the window. One of my players tried to convince me to use a third party ability instead of paizo's ability. They both did the exact same thing, but one was cheaper to use. I said no, where paizo and third party disagree I go with paizo.

Same thing here. Some might think that a little anal retentive, but eh. I'd give it a no.

I'm not seeing a big problem with this as long as a) it's a psi-like ability so they can't use it to qualify for [psionic] feats, and b) it still counts toward their stances known.

EDI: Oh, and that they can't use it while in another stance. That should close all the loopholes.

Seems fine, but probably just make it a homebrew stance that allow the initiator to sense emotions of creatures by looking at them.
