I tried searching and came up with nothing. My question mostly pertains to Heavy Armor Master and Parry on a Battlemaster, but could cover all forms of damage reduction (not Resistance, phb197 already says that Resistance doesn't stack)

So, if I take 15 damage as a BatMaster, and have HAM, and Parry, would it really be:

15 -3 -d8+Dex?
If I had Dex18 and rolled a perfect 8 (8+4 = 12) could I potentially reduce 100% of the incoming damage?

Yes. Thats correct.

Parry reduces the damage first. Then HAM kicks in and knocks off another 3 points.

If you also have resistance, any remaining damage then gets halved.

Does it say that anywhere, or is this just common sense?

I don't think it's clearly written anywhere but:

1) A lot of things do stack, if they are from different sources. (i.e. same spell doesn't stack but two similar will)

2) If something can't stack, it will usually be mentioned. Like for resistance, advantage, disadvantage and temp HP.

I was meaning the order of the stacking. For example, if you have HAM and cast blade ward, does the 3-point reduction occur before or after the resistance?

HAM then Resistance. PHB 196.

HAM then Resistance. PHB 196.

Yeah, it's the less good option they choosed.

For 10 damage, HAM first means (10-3)/2= 7/2= 3,5 so 3
For 10 damage, if resistance had been first 10/2- 3= 5-3= 2

Okay okay, it's just one point of damage difference! :smalltongue:
