I'm going back and adding the finishing touches to a beast master character of mine and was looking to see if there was any way to boost the Wild Cohort at an accelerated rate and I noticed that in the section after the table it has this text:
Animal Companion Basics: Use the base statistics for a creature of the companion's kind, as given in the Monster Manual, but make the following changes.
Class Level: The character's class levels and racial Hit Dice.
Now from the context of the article it is obviously supposed to a) be referring to Wild Cohorts not Animal Companions and b) be referring to the Character Level section in the table, but it doesn't. So what you have is an alteration of the AC turning their Class Level into the character's class levels and racial Hit Dice. For a druid with a druid pet, because they weren't powerful enough already.
Just thought I'ld share, thought it was funny.
