Basically is there a spell or item that would let a creature with the Rejuvenation special ability (like the ghost, lich, or trompe l'oeil) self-destruct just like a Final Fantasy style Bomb creature would?

The standard is the Necklace of Fireballs. When failing a save vs. a fire effect, you need to make a save for the beads to keep them from going off as well... and the Necklace is itself used as a fire effect. Permits blowing yourself up just by giving up saves and setting off the first.

Expensive, though.

There's a few spells for it in 3.5....

If I could only give a Gunpowder Ooze an Int score I could make a Trompe L'oeil of an Alter Ego of THAT wearing the Necklace of Fireballs...

Hmm, Awaken Construct on a Clockwork Juggernaut works.
Doesn't get as crazy as 2 Gunpowder Oozes exploding and making each other split and explode some more though.

A detonate (http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/advancedPlayersGuide/spells/detonate.html) spell would fill this role fairly well. You can have it set to go off when the creature is near death, ensuring it will die unless you roll really low.

Ring of Retribution (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic-items/rings/ring-of-retribution) (7500g) can detonate a 30' fireball (10d6, reflex half) centered on (and damaging to) the wearer once per day.

The explosion also damages your equipment if you're killed by it, but this is a non-issue because:

a) If you're a ghost / whatever, you were already dead.
b) As using the ring is an immediate action, you can trigger it any time you want, i.e. even as you're already dying to something else.

Also, 3.5 has the 'ring of vengeance' (BoED, 4500g) for good-aligned wearers, which blast your killer for 15d6 untyped damage, but turns to dust after a single use. Great to sneak on to a few minions here and there, I guess.

Note: The 7,500 gp is the crafting cost, not the purchase price.

Deadman's contingency (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic/all-spells/d/deadman-s-contingency) coupled with Fireball would work, but I believe you have to be alive to cast it, since it triggers after your death (not destruction, if the caster were undead / a construct).

The most I seem to be able to get out of it is a contingency; empowered detonate - which allows for the sixth level spell cap without banging your head to hard into obscure books. 15d8 averages out at 67.5 damage in a thirty foot radius which could make a dent in quite the area - just make sure your "bomb" gets close to the party caster for maximum efficiency. lol.

... Wait! Can he wear a necklace of fireballs while having the contingency; detonate effect on? Taking the damage may kill him, but he can intentionally fail the save on the NoF while he is still alive. At this point, the sky is the limit. lol. A type 7 NoF (and lets face it, if we're talking lich, 8K gp is a single encounter on a lazy saturday) detonating would have an average of 203 damage in a 20 foot radius on top of the 67.5 damage in a 30 foot radius.

How that for a bomb?

Yes, but it's kind of crappy.

Troth of the Forgotten Pharaoh (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/general-feats/troth-of-the-forgotten-pharaoh) lets you self-destruct as an immediate action or automatically when you die, but it only does 1d6+level damage in a 5' burst. *sad trombone*

It's useful for Ghosts with Malevolence though, since they can prevent people from exorcising them by threatening to explode the victim. Or with Vehemence, explode their pants. :smalltongue:
