Does this work if an ally is under a spell that the cleric doesn't know about?

If he's cursed, or under a geas, for example. Can the arcana cleric end these spells if he doesn't know they're there?

It has to be a spell 'of your choice'. If you don't know which spell is affecting your target, you can't choose it. So I'd say no.
