Seattle, 1200 hours, hard rain:
Grey skies turned everything colorless as early-afternoon rain washed across the sprawl. Locals seemed unimpressed and were out and about as usual adorned in various styles of raingear. The hot dadie was Storm® which combined with feedback duds and a link created a wild, random electronic beatmix when raindrops hit you. Most of the sinless just used trash bags. Traffic was backed-up everywhere except the sidewalks turning the sprawl into a crawl and the Knight Errand patrol officers only made it worse. NewsNet, Inc. suggested staying in and browsing the Net for the latest in neo-tech appliances from Gates' Computer Showcase. It was lunchtime so the SINners packed eat-stations like McHugh's, Green Village and Teriyaki Boy.

Dowtown a.k.a. Seattle City was buzzing despite the weather. The main business district is also filled with shops, parks, theaters, museums, hotels, and restaurants, a wide variety of local attractions including the waterfront and market, and popular attractions like the Space Needle. It’s also home to examples of the metroplex’s diverse culture, from the International District to the Elven District, the Ork Underground, and the Capitol Hill neighborhood. You can see the Arcology Commercial and Housing Enclave (formerly the Renraku Arcology), one of the world’s largest buildings, as well as the spectacular Aztechnology Pyramid. Seattle is also a place of myriad political ideologies and the varied races of people who support them.

As dark and gloomy as the city looked the matrix was lit-up. Icons hovering around nodes dominated the AR and VR landscapes presenting the viewer with images of the strangest lucid dreams ever. But you get used to it until you don't. Days like this the corporate spam was insanity and you had to drift or ghost just to use your link. Porn, appliances, vehicles, porn, food, apparel, porn, music, alcohol, porn and more! Occasionally a small aircraft or probe would cross the sky but for the most, the rain was keeping the fliers grounded. With the rain- and spam-storms you could easily zone-out for hours if you had nothing to do and too little scratch in your pocket.

Post character location, description, thoughts, actions, what they think of the successful heist, what they think about being stiffed, plans for the day/week, what equipment/weapons are they packing. Give everybody a good introduction to your runner. I don't mind if you intro minor NPCs into a scene for fluff puposes. Post your sheet in a spoiler. Use a distinct color for speech/thoughts that isn't a loud dayglow color. You make your own rolls in a spoiler tag. Questions and comments go in spoiler tags.

Taqukaq
2017-01-23, 10:51 AM
Taqukaq is sprawled out on the floor with her back resting against her fine leather couch. It was a cooled white couch that was surprisingly as easy to clean as it was to stain. Taqukaq's only company was her two empty bottles of Gentleman Jack and the half empty bottle in her hand. She would take a swig every now and then watching the news. She watched 30 minutes of news every day just to see if she can find anything on her old gang that she used to led...After her **** sucker of an uncle ruined her it has all been down hill. No more grueling and eating out of trash bins, no more sloppy gang wars during any time of the year, no more sleeping in a rundown old bar under the counter... No more slamming stupid bitches heads against the metal reinforced counter.

Now her ****ing life is a well paying but sheisty job (no change there) but all the money she made went to her instead of her old gang. Now she lived in a large apartment with a large kitchen, nice bedroom and a large wall of windows that can be opened up like doorways. A suicidal maniac's dream come true. That doesn't make what happened okay... I'm going to find Nunani and I'm going to jump rope with his god damn intestines...But who the hell am I kidding... I know he is still deadlier than I am... Not ready yet... but I am Inuksuk (On the right path)...

Inuaqti (Malevolent spirit of death) will guide me when I am ready. It was about time she got off her ass and ran some of her errands. I remembered something vaguely about a possible job but I was too busy with my three friends here...This job better pay out...Or so help me god I'm going to wear a necklace of tracheas starting with the next ****er to cheat me... I talk out loudly now to break the silence (other than the back ground sound of the news playing)

That last Heist was supposed to pay another month's god damn rent in this place... I don't ****ing like being played...I shouldn't have made such a scene about violating that man with the barrel of my revolver... but **** it. Good thing the rest of those guys knew how to calm me down with my booze and a better job. God damn I still want to shove a pistol up that bastards ass and empty my 6 shooter. I don't get played god ****ing damnit!

Her half empty bottle shattered against the wall. Christ that was my last bottle! ****!! Her content with her current quality of life was overshadowed by all of her unyielding rage. She needed to get out before she messed up her nice apartment. She grabbed her bottles and threw them out the window, stopping with a slight smirk before hearing the distinct crash.... Damn! No screams or cries... Maybe next time.

Currently she is wearing her traditional Inuit armored clothing, there is rimberwolf skin on her back with a light hood where the fur poofs the most, the front of her torso is thick and coarse caribou fur. Her pants are brownbear fur with hare fur on her mukluks. (Inuit boots) she has her two revolvers in their hidden holsters on her ribs, easily quick drawn. Her Raecor Stings are on the hidden gum arm slide mechanism up her sleeves. Her tomohawks are poorly hidden under the clothes on her back which csn be quickly pulled out if she reaxhed back and pulls down on the handles. She should think about showering or doing something. I need another job...

Description: Taqukaq is an Inupiat woman, she earned the name Grand daughter of The Tundra in the Ozaa Inupiat Tribe. In Inupiat, The granddaughter of the Tundra is a title given to the wisest and strongest woman in the tribe. Generally quick to instill harsh discipline with sudden violent methods. The tribe both fears and respects the Taqukaq. Taqukaq is Inupiat for Granddaughter of the Tundra.

Taqukaq is 30 years old, 5'11" and very strong looking. She isn't muscular but she does not look weak by any means. Taqukaq has fiery red hair and wears a black trench coat, nice for hiding several weapons. Her eyes are a deep amber color which is strange for an Inupiat woman to have short red hair and amber eyes. She has the pale skin of the Inupiat though. She is completely humorless and quite an absolute bitch, but it is all for a good reason. Some say the cold hard bitches have a soft side for those they care about... Taqukaq is the exception, she is a bitch because she needs jobs to get done and she doesn't care how. The people she cared about are long since dead and no longer has that motherly harshness.

She only has a cold bitter harshness like the Tundras of Alaska. She has her two revolvers holstered in quick draw holsters that are strapped to her at her hips. Her holdout pistols are hidden up her leather trench coat sleeves attached to the hidden arm slides, ready to be whipped out at a moments notice. Her two combat axes are actually Obsidian tomahawks from her tribe, and they are crossed on her back, extremely visible. She rarely takes her axes when she goes on runs where she needs to be stealthy. She brings them when she expects trouble. She has absolutely mastered the resting bitch face and always looks like she wants to murder everyone (unless she is using her skills as a face.) She is pretty handy with a gun, however rarely uses them, trying to focus on being a face and leader. When she does use violence, she likes to be extremely violent and vicious.

Biography:

Taqukaq was born a member of the Ozaa tribe, a small but very violent and dangerous Inupiat tribe. Most Inupiats were peaceful, only learning to fight to defend from the more violent Inupikut and central Yupik tribes. They above all else strive to remain traditional in this fast approaching modern age, they still survive and live off the land. Taqukaq's father, Tan'Gerrliq which means the black bear, raised her harshly. In the tribe, you did not join until you survived in the winter forest for two weeks when you turned 6. Taqukaq was taught to survive as much as a child can learn and then thrown in the wild with two other children. Two weeks later, a starved, cut, injured and dying Taqukaq was the only child to make it back alive. She was in the tribe, at first her name was Nayak (Little Sister), in the tribe names are earned and change as you earn them. She was raised and taught to fight and live off the land by Tan'Gerrliq.

He was not nice, nor was he a good man. He left her to die several times and each mistake was met with a beating, but it molded her and it put ice in her skin and her mind (Inupiat phrase meaning thick skin and a sharp mind). She learned much from her father and she never knew her mother. Her father raised her to be a wild animal. She was raised about 100 miles North of Fairbanks near the Gates of the Arctic national park/wildlife reserve. She often went north of the mountains in the tundra to hunt for large game, get ice and snow for igloos and to learn how to track in the worst conditions.

She lived like this for most of her life, until she turned 20, she mastered her body and learned control like most people wouldn't believe. She did not earn "Taqukaq" over night. It took her 20 years to finally earn it when she began to stand up to her father. She never won, but he taught her to never roll over and take ****. She always got back up and fought him until she was bloody and bruised and out cold. She earned the respect of the tribe, she learned to kill and even had to against some of the canabalistic Inupikut tribes. She started to overcome her father one day, closer and closer, he knew he was no longer in his prime and she wasn't even there yet. He was proud, he would leave the tribe to her one day. Her unkle, Nunani however, was angered and outraged. One of the tribes best fighters. He was also next in line to lead the tribe, Tan'Gerrliq decided Taqukaq will take over now. His name was Nunani (The named Ukomiarik ((Demon)) of desperation.

The worst Ukomiarik in her tribe's culture. Nunani tried to kill her by burning her shelter in her sleep. She was out hunting that night/morning and she was unharmed by the fire, the fire however was caught by a gust and spread to the rest of the shelters. The fire quickly burned the tribe and most of the forest to the ground. Nunani escaped and Taqukaq returned and to her horror her people and her father were dead. She knew who killed them but she was not ready to kill this man, she fled. She was hunted for years by her uncle.

She moved into Seattle and never really settled in peacefully. She never went to college, never got a steady paying job. She joined gangs, took them over and lost them from back stabbing or being destroyed by rival gangs. She quickly became known through the streets of Seattle as the Grand Daughter of the Tundra, because she was a cold and heartless animal. She was accurately an uncontrollable savage.

She was constantly hunted by her uncle. She learned to make her presence known when she walked in a room or down the street, she earned respect and for all her harshness, she was charming and attractive when she wanted to be. Her charm was a different charm, it wasn't a sweet charm, it was a respectable leadership charm. People could trust her and she had a silver tongue that doubled as a snake bite when she needed. She "became" a shadowrunner however that is just officially, she was doing jobs ever since she came to Seattle. She doesn't run or lead any gangs anymore but she has left her mark in Seattle.

In the end her luck was absolute **** and she usually ended up getting her ass whooped more times than she whooped ass. Her uncle caused most of her defeats. That never stopped her though.

Ohhhh, I'm looking forward to this. :P. Okii fixed the intro to be about 15 minutes instead what it was before.

Consciousness slowly reached Gumshoe, followed by a throbbing pain in his head, this one came much faster. Trying to recall was the drek happened last night was only met with a blank canvas (not exactly a good sign in his line of work), but by this point his other senses were starting to make sense. He could hear the sound of people nearby (no angry screamings at him, which is a good sign in his line of work), something hard and flat against his face and a strong reek of alcohol. This last clue was enough for him to deduce that he was in ralative safety inside his run-down office (which doubled as his run-down apartment, which is to say had a mini shower, a soykaf maker and a couch to crash into when he can afford to pick where to crash into), face first into his desk, an empty bottle (vodka, cheap) in his hand, his hat resting on his couch. Groaning from the hangover, he looks through his drawer looking for some aspirin, which he promptly downs. Still, he was gonna need some strong soykaf and some grub. He did got paid recently, although he was scammed a lot of it in the process (a very big asterisk reading "owes me one" stands next to Mr. Doors' name), so he decided to go to that slightly less grubby and sketchy diner down the street, right after a quick shower.

"Dreking fixer, gonna need to get myself some better sources next time." This last job might have ended with no new scars or bullet holes and maybe some new "friends" (or at least fellow professionals) but the pay would not last long and he'd need a new job soon. Putting on his trusty Armored Vest under a plain T-Shirt, donned his brown coat (which was starting to get a little faded here and there), checked to see if his flask as still in the inner pocket (whiskey, cheap-ish) and his fedora to try and keep mostly dry and, after some thought, his gun (he still had some old enemies from his days in Knight Errant, plus that plane heist couldn't have won him many friends) and went out to brave the world, in search of soykaf and maybe a bagel.

Hayden Zemke (6, 6) - Professor Hayden Zemke is Gumshoe's teacher to the arcane arts and the extent of it that stuck is proof that he is a very good teacher indeed. Their relationship began shortly after Gumshoe made detective for Knight Errant, when an amulet tangentional to the investigation conveniently went missing.

Mr. Doors (3, 3) - Troll Fixer and Fence. Used to be Gumshoe's buyer back in the KE days, now the client and supplier has changed.

Sargent Raquel “Vine” Vasquez: (Knight Errant) (2, 4) - Shoe's ex-partner back from when he was in the force. Short in stature for an Ork and even shorter in patience. Has a knack for knowing convenient places to adquire less than completely legal assets.

== Background ==
Gumshoe is of medium height and all in all unremarkable features. He keeps his hair short because of habit from his security days, but the almost always present 5 o'clock shadow on his face betrays that he is letting himself go lately.

Formely a Knight Errant detective he was no more corrupt than any of his colleages, taking the occasional bribe or misplacing the ocasional magical good. Being born with a talent for magic and not being trained or used formally in KE he struck a deal with one of his clients in order to be classically trained as a Hermetic Mage.

Things were going swimingly until a drug bus went bad. Too overconfident, Gumshoe tried to summon an elemental way above his pay grade and the thing went berserk, resulting in the drugs getting away, a bunch of colateral damage and him being booted to the streets. However, using his knowledge and skills He makes his living now with whatever jog his skills and knowledge can get him, but money is scarce and peace of mind is scarcer. Being hungover is starting to become the norm rather than the exception these days.

Gumshoe's matrix AVI is of a medium height figure, face obscured, dressed in a trenchcoat that covers its whole body and a brown fedora to match. The only aspect of its face that is visible is a perpetually lit cigarrete.

== Concept ==
Ex-Knight Errant detective turned magical PI.

Zig stopped abruptly, the last echoes of the virtual drumkit still rattling in his ears. Something was wrong. He squinted and cocked his head, trying to remember... Sweat dripped down his torso, making some of the old scars itch. He shrugged his shoulders and started into the riff for Arkona once more, his hands blurring.

Damn, there it was again. A skipped beat. It couldn't be the virtual kit this time; he'd tweaked it to the highest temporal resolution. He wasn't sure if he could play faster than it could simulate anymore.

He put down his sticks and paced, wiping the sweat from his face and shoulders.

Maybe it was a glitch with his cyber? He'd almost missed hitting that cable on the plane the other day. Things weren't right with that job. He should've known it wouldn't go by the numbers. Doors had taken three steps going to the car, and he should have taken four - and the door had that little extra click. The next job would have to be better.

Fine. He'd go see Emil, have him run a diagnostic. The blocky street doc seemed to know what he was doing. Zig hated his accent though - Where in Europe had he come from, anyway?

---

He took a quick shower, and changed into something vaguely presentable...

As he was headed for the door, he got a call from Derek.

"Arkona gig Friday night. You're going to be there, right?" Derek asked. "And smooth, right? Not like with Environ, right?"

"Come on. They played a ballad for the encore," Zig explained. "I can't deal with that 3/4 crap. I told you." At least Arkona was a proper band.

"Be there. Smooth," Derek said, a little sterner than usual.

"Yeah, yeah. Smooth." He flicked his comm off.

Right. He shaped the week in his head: off to see Emil this afternoon. A few days to practice. He should take some time at the range, too; he should've hit that wire square, not just clipped it. And he swore he'd heard that missed beat. Check in with the others, see if there was anything coming up...

He headed out the door. As an afterthought, he tossed on the armored jacket - not too out of place with the rain. A Morrissey Elan was in one pocket, and he tucked his sticks into his belt...

Physical Description:

A tall gangly Ork with a heroin-chic build, always habitually tapping on something.
Zig has mongrel features with no discernable heritage. He has pale greenish skin,
a patchy goatee, long, very finely-pointed tusks and stringy black hair.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Motivations:

Master the rhythm
Hookers and blow
Disdain for pansy elf folk singers

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Background:

Zig was a soldier for a Mafia family, sometimes a hit man, sometimes a bodyguard.
His effectiveness eventually led him to a middling position and heavy augmentation.
He was frequently a bodyguard for Oscar Genovese, the family lawyer, and formed
a friendship with him after preventing a particularly ill-advised attempted robbery.

His career came to an end when he had a psychotic break after being trapped
under heavy automatic weapon fire in an echoey warehouse. Details are unclear -
he was the only one to emerge alive, apparently on both sides, and has no
memory of the event. The experience left him, however, nonfunctional, and with
a severe obsession about rhythms.

Genovese supported him for a time while he worked his way toward a semblance of
normality using drumming as a therapy. When family politics saw the boss killed
and replaced by a rival, with an ingrained dislike for him - the warehouse incident,
during which a family cache was looted, was somehow involved - Zig had to leave
his old career and start working the Shadows.

He had started playing one-off gigs as a drummer as a sideline. Lately that has
become more successful - though Zig is notoriously flaky, and not really all that
good a drummer, he is incredibly fast, well-suited for Troll Metal. He even has a
small fan base who watch him largely to see what he does next.

Lo-Res slowly sips from a cup of coffee flavored caffeinated soy and contemplates the recordings of "Mr. Name" that his got. Sure, he got most of the rent from the last run, and he could always spoof what he didn't have if he didn't manage to make any cred in the next month, but it was the principle of the matter that made him consider tracking the man down and claiming the rest of his pay. He spins the 3d model of the head in AR, and drums his fingers on the table of his apartment above the International District. He swipes it all away with a sigh and looks out the water covered window. He didn't need his sensor suite to tell him that this was going to last a while longer.

He sighs again and downs the last of the soycaf, then sets the empty cup in the dishwasher. He speaks to the empty room as he pulls on his jacket and slips his Ruger into its shoulder holster. "Wardiver, I'm going out. Could you let the washer run this time, I'm starting to run out of plates."

The toaster beeps in response as the decker leaves his clean white room to enter the shadows of the city.

Lo-Res (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheet.html#id=1070851)

Lo-Res is a freak and a mutant. At least according to his Elven Noble parents, who abandoned him immediately after he was born. But some day, he will take his rightful place in the council of Tir na Nog.

Which is a lie he tells when asked about his past. The truth is much simpler. He was orphaned in Crash, and with no where to go he was forced onto the streets and into the Shadows. He took to hacking like a fish to water thanks to the education in his former life, and used programming to make ends meet.

Early on in his adult life he met and harbored an AI who originated as an Ares Macrotech advertisement until it could claim its rights as a Sentient. In exchange, Wardiver made some arrangements to make Lo-Res's life easier.

With his knowledge of the Matrix and the backing of an AI, Lo-Res decided that it was high time he take a shot at getting his old life back. Armed with a custom link and chromed up, he set out to take the Shadows by storm.

A slightly stringy man with incredibly pale skin from long periods spent indoors. His black hair is worn in a neat crew cut so his datajack is clearly visible. The brass around the jack is engraved with the words, "I can hear it in my ghost.". He appears to be in his late teens/early twenties.

He is rarely consistent with his eye color, but the pupils are usually star shaped. Unless he is looking at something he likes, in which case they are heart shaped.

His Matrix Icon is the default anthroform icon, but rendered in jet black rather than white.

Well, Gumshoe's action can be accomplished in the given time frame, as he walked out of his office, he has yet to go have lunch.

By the way, on the armor talk, the Armor spell explicitly states that it stacks, right? So it's in the clear?

The staccato hammering of raindrops on the metal roof of Riese's shed is like a ganger going all out with a pair of SMGs, but it was a sound he had grown so used to by this point that it barely registered in his brain. Barely audible underneath the splashes, though, he could also hear the very faint sizzle-pop of the trace chemicals in the water eating tiny holes through it. He'd need to shell out to replace it before too long, but that was going to cost money. More money than he had, in fact. He'd been counting on the payout from the plane job to do some fixing-up; instead, he'd barely been able to make rent for the month. If that had been his fixer who stiffed them instead of Gumshoe's, Reise would have been emulating his mythical ancestors and making bread out of the man's broken bones. As it was, he could only hope to meet the fixer by chance in a dark alleyway someday.

Grumpy, the giant shoved another handful of soycrisps into his mouth and leaned back in the massive armchair, racking his brain in futile hopes of finding an eight-letter word for 'cliques or subgroups'.

OOC

My apologies, I somehow completely missed the post with the OOC/ ic post. I'm at work right now, I'll have a post in before the sun is up.

*Remy sat with his legs folded underneath himself, his hands moving with a practiced rhythm as he sharpened the blade in his hand, less focused on the pressure than the angle on the small smooth tool, his motions smooth and deliberate. His eyes were only half open as he worked, his lips reciting a mantra that he'd long since put to heart, every slow stroke of blade on stone a word. The weather outside was a distant concern for a later time, at the moment, the erratic pattering of the diseased water serving as white noise for his relaxation.*

*He was a massive man, and in another time would have been a giant, but in the sixth world, where real giants walked the streets, he was just another body in the crowd. Even an above average orc would have a bit of height on him now, though he'd give any orc a run for his money for muscle. Remy took meticulous care of himself - it was how he paid the bills, after all, and if you got slow or fat in this line of work, you got dead real fast. There was always the option of cutting more of his body away for tech, but the idea left a bad taste in his mouth. After everything else, the last thing I need to think about is a bunch of rust-pocked 'ware.*

*After a time, he exhales slowly, wiping the blade clean on an old rag before rising to pace across the open expanse of his flat. He'd never been much for furniture. He preferred enough room to move around freely, and the ancient building he called home had plenty of that. It had been a cubicle farm at one point, but load bearing walls were all that was left now, and Remy couldn't be happier with the result. Moving to the small cooling unit that he kept his perishables in, he pulls up his LAN to check the settings on his auto-gardener and smiles. Gonna have ripe tomatoes soon. Shiny.*

*Pulling a can of BUZZ! Cola from his fridge, he picks his knife up from where he'd set it on the counter and slips it away into its case before gathering his things to head outside. Popping the can open, he takes a sip, bringing his comm up, shooting a message to Steph. She worked late, but noon was pushing it - even for her.*
"Oi. Steph. Wakey wakey. What do you say to some grub and we can talk work? Last slag fell through on his word, so I'm gonna need something more."

Taqukaq's flat:

When she tosses the bottles, Taqukaq notices several Knight Errant vehicles parked around her building with six officers decked-out in full-armor and wielding sub-machineguns stalking the perimeter! Site security is with KE and one guard points at your window! Then there's three loud bangs at her door, which gives way bursting open and six Knight Errant detectives with gold badges on their armored vests rush in! One human detective yells, "GET ON YOUR FACE!!" and Taqukaq finds herself facing six Ares handguns!

Gumshoe's place:

He opens the door to find six Knight Errant detectives looking back at him! They all have their handguns drawn and seem to be smirking! The Ork detective in front shows his badge and says, "Well, surprise, surprise. How ya doin', Jimmy, or should I call you 'Gumshoe'? Let's take a ride - nice and easy." Gumshoe knows the detective as Kooya: the guy reported Gumshoe to KE Internal Affairs back in the day!

Stacatto's home:

Stepping out the door,Zig finds himself staring at six Knight Errant detectives, badges and guns out in his face! A human detective says, "Good afternoon. Mister Stacatto? You're under arrest!"

Lo-Res' dive:

Swinging the door open, Lo-Res is met by six Knight Errant detectives just walking up! The have their handguns out and glare at the runner! A human detective produces a badge and handcuffs, saying, "Hello! We're looking for a guy called 'Lo-Res'. This look like him, fellas? Yeah, you're him - you're under arrest!"

Riese's shed:

Riese's door gets kicked in! Six rain-covered Knight Errant officers in full riot-gear armed with sub-machineguns stalk in weapons scanning then aim at Riese! A troll detective strides in behind them and Riese can tell there are more detectives just outside the door armed with handguns! The troll produces a badge saying, "Mister Riese? We need you to come down to the station and answer some questions. Let's go!"

Remy's residence:

Remy's barely off his comm when he runs smack into six gun-wielding Knight Errant detectives just outside his door! An ork detective shows a badge while keeping his Ares on Remy, saying, "Whatever it is is gonna wait, Remy. You're under arrest - assume the position!"

Yeah this sucks.

You don't have to go quietly though. You can attempt whatever you like but there's at least six guns on you. Also you would know Knight Errant knows you're runners and they might have come properly equipped. But if you try an escape, the dice might go your way.

If you comply the cops 'cuff you, read you your rights and stuff you in a transport vehicle/van. In the van you're surrounded by the six cops with riot gear and subs. You're taken to the former Lone Star now Knight Errant precinct for booking. The trip is silent as the cops say nothing, but Gumshoe gets some nasty looks. You are all confronted individually and so far have no knowledge of the others' situation. Assume weapons and comms easy to get at are taken by the cops. Anything concealed or implanted is still in play.

[roll0] Lets see if she doesn't lose her ****. Yikes only one success.

She yells out, retorting to the "get on your face" command with the only thing she could think of.... ****ing his mother works...

I'm not your mother last night!

Taqukaq's response to the guns in her face was her getting ready to whip out her revolvers but she DID NOT point her pistols at them. Her hands are on her hips pushing back clothes and revealing them. There was some sliver of sense in her head screaming at her not to fight her way out... BUT SHE NEEDS THIS! If they haven't already shot her she will break any silence.

So... What is the ****ing problem here? I'm going to guess that you people know who I am... You also know that YOU will not kill me without at least two of you dying horribly and the rest of you suffering something worse. I'm thinking something involving the mutilation of genitals and me drinking them as a smoothie... My blender is to your right. I'm sure you are somewhat aware that I am... faster , heavily armed and...durable. I'm just fine with dying so long as its good and bloody and there are six of you to do this with. So lets calm down and talk some details before I consent to this illegal breaking and entry with out a warrant and attempted kidnapping shall we?

Taqukaq is ready for a shoot out, She knows that by the time they pull their triggers she can quick draw her revolvers and shoot 8 times before they could react, that would leave one bullet in each revolver left.... unless of course...any of them were as fast as her. Still...The odds are not in her favor as she eyes her kitchen counter to use as cover.

*As the officers catch him outside his door, Remy stops, his eyes locking on the barrel of the six shooter as its pointed at him, the black hole looking as big as life itself, and for whatever reason, he can't seem to take his eyes away from it, but he can hear movement - the telltale rustle of heavy armor and guns at the ready, so he quietly puts his hands up, shaking his head as he starts laughing loudly.*
"Oi, you drek. You got me good. Gonna have to remember that and install some cameras on the door. I wouldn't want a package to show up and miss it. Or someone less friendly."

*He doesn't bother to fight - there's no sense, after all. If they know his name and where he lives, they've as good as got him by the short hairs. At the very least, he can figure out what the hell is going on, and if need be, fight his way out of heavily armored men after that. As the detective pulls the large knife from its case and his light pistol, he just shrugs and shows the orc plenty of teeth. Partially to screw with him, partially because he was still wearing his gloves.*
"Got permits for the one, and the other don't need 'em, so don't loose those. Sentimental value, you know? My dearest mother gave them to me. I'd hate to have to send her down to box your sargeants ears, slick."

*Slipping into the vehicle, he looks around at the six officers and blinks slowly, looking them up and down"
"Wait. Seven? That's all they sent? Sweet mothers milk. If I'd known they'd only sent a handful, I'd have given you boys a good time at the very least."
*Raising his voice to yell up to the Orc who had held him at gunpoint.*
"Hey! Omae! I was headed out for a hot date, I don't suppose you want to make up the difference and swing by a Stuffer Shack on the way? Come on man. I'm as hungry as a troll back here."
*Glancing at the officers, he regards their silent stares with levity for a moment.*
"You don't want me to get hungry. You wouldn't like me when I'm hungry."
*As none of them respond, he rolls his eyes and groans.*
"Heathens. Seriously. No harm in getting a bite huh? Just something on the way? I'm not gonna stop......"

*When they finally bring him to the facility, his spirits are just as high, and he's barely slowed down. Alternately humming the imperial death march as they walk him down the hallway, and cracking jokes, watching their reactions all the while.*

Would it be possible for Gumshoe to send a small message from his commlink?
If so, he send one to Vine. Dirtbag Kooya on my doorstep. Could use a distraction. Think you could hook me up? Would owe ya.
-Gum

Rolling KE knowledge for Gumshoe to know some sort of procedure/loophole (such as being able to do one phonecall or something) to send the above message in case it's not possible in the short amount of time or to see if he knows one of the other guys.
Security Companies (KE) poll 10: [roll0] - 3 hits

OOC - @TheMightyQuinn: That's 3 hits on auditory perception, right?

"Hey there slot, I mean, Koo. What's wrong, ran out of people to snitch about in KE?" Gumshoe says, putting his hands slowly above his head.

"Yeah, yeah, easy, I know you don't like to do much work. What is this about, Kooya, here to brag about whatever paycheck you got by throwing me under the bus? Didn't think you'd need such a big audience to see poor old me." Gumshoe is visibly annoyed, but complies without much fuss. He doesn't even try to claim he has a license for his gun, he knows better than trying such a bald faced lie to someone who knows his real name.

Inside the car he keeps to himself, he knows he's not gonna win any popularity contests in KE. His first headache of the day hasn't even passed yet and now he's gotten a second one. And Kooya of all people. Only way for him to be happy to see him was if the slot was in a body bag. With some luck he'd be able to pull some old connections though. "So, anyone got any smokes? Kinda left my place in a hurry, ya see." - he asks to the general audience.

Stepping out the door,Zig finds himself staring at six Knight Errant detectives, badges and guns out in his face! A human detective says, "Good afternoon. Mister Stacatto? You're under arrest!"

Stick to the head of that broken-nose guy, grab him for a shield, clear the door... No. Zig's cheek twitched as he vetoed the instinctive reaction. Six guys, after all.

"Huh. That's... huh." He moved his hands slowly above his head, and 'cooperated' as he was cuffed and led away.

He could hear them shifting about in the front of the van occasionally, but even his earbuds weren't picking up any conversation. And the guys in the back were definitely not talking. Guess he'd find out what this was about at the destination. It was probably that last job. Four steps, Doors had taken...

When he got a call, he'd have to call Genovese. He'd pulled him out a couple times before, like after the hit on the Vietnamese guy. They didn't have anything then, only fishing. Was it the same this time?

Riese very carefully didn't go for any weapons, or make any threatening moves at all. Rather, he very slowly and non-threateningly sets down his datapad and stands up to his full eleven feet and change, looking down at the KE squad with a bemused expression before turning to the detective.

"I'm always happy to give some time to Knight Errant, Detective...", he leans down to inspect the badge, "Mulberry. Though perhaps you'd be amenable to escorting me down on my own vehicle? I'll need to get home once we're finished talking, undoubtedly. And it'll let these fine men you brought with you ride back with leg room, instead of trying to squeeze everyone in around me with a prybar."

Lo-Res blinks. There goes his plan to get some lou mei from Aunty Fong's. He smiles disarmingly and steps outside with his hands in plain sight. "No need for the guns, omae. Wouldn't want anyone to get dusted over a simple misunderstanding. I'll come quiet like." He very carefully opens his armored jacket so the nice officers can take his gun and AR gloves, then complies with all orders as they herd him into the van. He even wears the stupid headjammer for them.

Of course, he's only compliant in meatspace. As soon as he spots the goons (or more specifically, their guns) he goes to work finding out who they are, why they're here, and most importantly, who sent them. He dances

Taqukaq:

An ork detective steps forward, gun still on Taqukaq and says, "You're not asking the questions - we are! You may get us but we will eventually get you - you aren't that good, baby! Assume the position!!" Taqukaq sees one of the officers key his commlink, "Close perimeter." The cops are a bit shaky but don't take their weapon aim off of the runner!

Riese:

The troll detective looks Riese over and says, "We'll get your bike down to the station, sir. We knew you were heavy-duty so we brought a van. Let's go."

Lo-Res:

Cuffed and escorted out, the group is stopped outside by a slim elven detective in a suit who puts his hand to Lo-Res' chest saying, "Stop. Don't even think about it. We have your comm - your whole system. You do not want to frag with us!"

Everyone else:

You arrive at the station where four more officers are waiting for you! They perform another more intense frisk with another fifth officer sitting in a chair staring at you, looking to the side, then calling out any concealed weapons and equipment you may have! Fraggin mages. The sitting mage nods at Gumshoe saying, "Officer Wright." Knight Errant is definitely prepared for you. You're escorted to a 20X20X10 room with a small table and a chair to sit in, uncuffed, and sat in the chair. Alone. The officers leave you alone for several minutes - too long. What are you thinking?

Taqukaq
2017-01-26, 06:28 PM
But you see, I no longer have family. My children are dead, my people are gone. You may kill me eventually but i will make atleast six orphans and six widows today. Is this a price you are really willing to pay? All i ask to stave off blood shed is that you inform me of SOMETHING. How simple is that, a few words and you get to all go home to your families with your genitals having never touched my blender...

Tell you what. I dont even care if i dont like what you say. If you tell me, ill surrender to you my axes and revolvers and come... might still need a muzzle...so many exposed tracheas...they always feel... Good to tear out with my teeth.

Taqukaq laughs psychotically at her own joke. She is trying to get the message across that she doesnt care about dying. She will enjoy bringing them with her. Atleast she hopes that her bluff makes them tell her something. She hated trusting people and she didnt trust pigs. She really doesnt want to die and is quite afraid of it. That is why she runs from her uncle... but these guys dont have to know that.

It couldnt be a better trade... you may have prepared for me with gear... but i can tell none of you came prepared for me mentally. Quyama Ozaa Wi'ingakuk Ila. Inuinnanutailaq Inuaqti, inuinaq inuaqti.

She tilts her head back as she utters her prayer as she puts her hands on her revolver handles with a grin. Quietly freaking out and praying to all of the spirits around her that this works. She silently hopes that they cant hear how hard her heart is pounding.

Yikes, one last try. :P hopefully she can reason with them. :P

You're escorted to a 20X20X10 room with a small table and a chair to sit in, uncuffed, and sat in the chair. Alone. The officers leave you alone for several minutes - too long. It's Knight Errant's hallmark: isolation.

Definitely a fishing expedition. At least this part. That one guy was a mage or psychic or esper or something for sure, Stacatto thought. He knew the drill: keep your mouth shut, think about something brainless.

Brrdrrappp. He drummed his fingers on the table. Brrdrrappp-tickt!. One leg was off, a little bit short; it made the table tilt a little when you hit it from one side. Just a little. he tried a bit of paper underneath - but that wasn't quite right either... He tried different parts of the table surface, shifting his chair around... there. This part was fine. He started on some timing drills...

Reaching the station Gumshoe doesn't openly speak with any of the others, so to not give them away. When the mage speaks to him, he cordially replies:

"Hey Frank, good to see someone still has some godamn manners here.", glaring at Kooya. "How's the old ball and chain doing omae?"

Now in one of the interrogation cells, that sure brought back some memories. He never did spend much time here, not being much of a people person and knowing that a good old fashioned mind probe, while not usually proper procedure, was so much faster and easier for him. Being on the other side is new though, and not a thing he's looking very much foward to trying again in the future.

He mentally processes how the day's going so far: Ok, think this through. By this time word has gotten around that I'm here. Officers are a gossipy sort. And a book too, only thing we - nah, it's they now, right - like more than talk is a bet. With some luck Vine'll hear about it and some good old camaderie will get me out of this bind. Hoping for cheap camaderie would be pushing it though.

"Hey, at least in my time we offered perps a soykaf, did basic manners take the boot when I did? C'mon, let's get this show on the road. He mumbles, while patting down to see if they confiscated his flask. A drink would make this situation almost bearable. Almost.

Reymos

*As they lead him through the process and finally reach the mage, Reymos continues cracking jokes, but falls silent as the hairs stand up on the back of his neck. He'd never been able to open himself up to the astral world, but he knew enough about it to get a feeling when someone was checking him out. It wasn't a sure thing, but he narrowed his eyes and smiled at the mage, something gleeful there.*
"Careful when you peek behind the curtain, omae. You might not like what you see there."

*He watches the man for any kind of response, but doesn't fight when he's lead to the isolation room. Instead, he hops up on the table, facing the door and settles into a lotus position, his eyes half lidded and hands resting on his knees. The joke is on them. Of all the people they could bring in, Remy had long since learned how to survive in isolation. Time and silence were old friends.*

*Reaching into his pockets, he checks to see if they'd bothered taking the small dental-floss shaped box container for his microwire and his rapelling gloves. Unliikely had, but it never hurts to check. They were tiny, after all. Don't have much for weapons. Fists work just fine if need be. Brought into a secure facility, but left unsecured in an isolation room. No information. It was the lack of information that bothered him the most. They want me off balance. That's why they used the tactics they did, but if they wanted me under lock and key, I'd be in lock down and stripped of everything, not just sitting here. There's more going on, but what?*

*Pausing for a moment, he looks over to the door and groans, shaking his head. That'd be too easy. Standing, he moves over to the door and tries the knob, if there is one. If it's locked, he'll take a step back and look at it before giving it a good solid kick. You never know.*

*If it proves unsuccessful, he moves back over to the table, and settles in, glancing over at the chair to think.*

Alright, first off, if the mage is assessing him, his astral form is still that of a Troll, so he's going to stand out.

Next, Strength check, just for fun, see what he does to the door.

[roll0]
Edit - Enough to do 5 damage, but even a rating 9 security door will resist most of that pretty easily (18 dice) so, he dents it at best, I'm betting. Still. Not bad for a security door. lol
And finally, what is the chair made of? Does it look like it could be broken?

Sorry about that, I hope this color is acceptable?

Also, I'd like to cast Detect Life, Extended with Force 1, hoping to get a general sense of where the rest of the group is (drain is 1/2+2=2.5 rounded down to 2). I'd like to buy the hits from Drain, please, as my Pool is 10. Detection range is Force*Mag*10 so 50 meters. I figure it should be enough for a KE station.

Casting test (Spellcasting+Magic+Specialty [Detection]) Pool 12: [roll0] 3 hits

Edit: Added description.

Well, this just wouldn't do. Staying here, blind and defenseless wasn't a good sign. Luckly for him, with his magical sense he's never blind. He wouldn't want to leave his physical body defenseless though, but a simple detection spell would do. The station isn't that big and most likely the others would be in nearby cells, so a simple spell that wouldn't exert him would do.

Sitting on the chair, he begins manipulating essense from the air, chanting softly. Soon he's formed strands and with those strands he could form multiple prisms in a row, with increasingly complexity. For a moment, before disapearing, someone with a sharp eye would think it was a perfect replica of the station they were in, incluiding even the people.

"Very well, detective. But I'll want a receipt to ensure it isn't damaged. You won't need the manacles, I wouldn't be inclined to run away even if you hadn't brought a dozen gunmen to show much your respects."

Riese makes himself as comfortable as he can in the heavy-lift van (preferably at the expense of any other occupants), hopefully after convincing the detective to leave him uncuffed. During the ride to the precinct, he ponders the situation and all its variables. Being tracked down so easily was concerning, but the fact that the KE detective had addressed him by his shadowname rather than his real name or either of his fake SINs was a small positive. Together, the two facts floating in a sea of possibilities indicated this was something everyone involved wanted kept in the shadows. Rocking the boat (or in this case, the van) was not the way to get ahead.

Taqukaq's place:

One of the detectives shouts, "Frag, she's a mage! Stop her!!" The six detectives all prepare to open fire on Taqukaq but the lead detective says, "WAIT! HOLD YOUR FIRE!" He then holsters his sidearm and shows Taqukaq his empty hands which are twitching a bit! He says to her, "You're wanted for questioning regarding a recent heist. That's all I know. We're just following orders, lady. You can surrender yourself to our custody, or, we can do it the hard way. But, we have the building surrounded and more units are en route. No one wants bloodshed. Now. Get down on your knees, hands on your head."

Through the open doorway, Taqukaq can hear multiple heavy footsteps rushing down the hallway towards the room!

She can comply or you can roll initiative. Your font is fine.

Relax from posting until we can get clarity on Taqukaq's decision. I'll address other runners' actions when her scene is done. The interrogation room doors are locked. Knight Errant is more military-like than Lone Star so expect reinforced doors and an unusual degree of site security. The place looks more like a military facility than your typical Lone Star station.

The door is unimpressed. Very solid metal structure. The chair is just average metal.

He detects only a blur of life-energy as the precinct is filled with KE officers. I'm cool with buying hits for anything routine like this, but never when Gumshoe is under pressure.

She. Allows herself to be taken in as she doesnt utter a single word. Only chuckles every now and then and grinning. Once she is put in the vehicle. She breaks her silence.

You can hold us up as much as you want. Don't think I'm rushing you. Do what you like, but realize the possible consequences. KE is not Lone Star. They are much more military-like and your runners would know this. Their detectives are laced-up like shadowrunners in terms of gear and weapons. If you don't have Corporate Intrigue, you wont know this. I have no problem with players/runners knowing what the KE soldier-cops can do, regardless.

For what it's worth, Riese's Hearing Enhancements will be cranked up to max once he's at the station. Never know what he might overhear, even inside the interrogation room.

Also, while this is a long shot, Riese does have a Knight Errant district captain as one of his Contacts. What are the odds that this precinct happens to be the one Captain Ferris is in charge of?

She's taken into custody by the flustered officers. Transport is uneventful. Like the others, she gets another mage-assisted search at the station. Everything that can be removed is taken except for clothing and she's place in a room alone and uncuffed like the others. Like the other rooms, hers has cameras in the upper corners.

Anyone with this will pick up a lot of chatter outside the room from officers talking about the runners:

How spooky Taqukaq is
How Gumshoe used to work for KE and how dirty he was
How fraggin big Riese is
How they hate runners and runners always talk a lot of drek and runners never have furniture
How they recognize Stacatto and think he's a decent musician
Then this: "Why'd the chicken cross the road?" -- "Why?" -- "To hunt somebody down." They laugh. "Knock, knock." -- "Who's there?" -- "The chicken!" More laughter.
How they want to beat confessions out of the runners but instead procedure will be followed "by the numbers"

I think that's everybody. This next part will be performed via PM on account of I need to simulate isolation. No posting on the main thread please. Stand by :smallamused:

*Walking out of the interrogation room, Remy heads to the desk sargeant to retrieve his personal effects, looking around as he does so. They'd still be watching him, so he'd still have to be careful. When the officer passed the release forms over to him, he sighs and asks the man to read it out loud for him. Earning a hefty sigh and rolled eyes in return.*
"Illiterate, chummer. Them's the breaks."

*Listening to the man read was nearly as bad as actually being illiterate, but he nodded along and put a little sailboat on the bottom of the page for his mark, chuckling as he does so, but it doesn't get so much as a sideways glance as the man passes his things back to him.*

*As his commlink comes online, he sees a few increasingly irate messages from Steph, who he was supposed to head out to lunch with. Yeah. She's not going to let me live this one down easily. Another bright, sunny day ruined by rent a cops.
As a massively muscled troll officer strides by, he sniffs and corrects his thoughts.

*As the message from Riese comes through, he smiles and just sends a simple quick reply in return.*

Stacatto eventually disentangles himself from the KE crowd, and finds a message waiting once he's collected his things and disengaged. Wouldn't have thought the cops'd be into that style music; who knew. At the least, it made him forget the nagging sense of wrongness for a bit.

Free booze is always appreciated; I'll be there.

He considered adding something about this morning's events - maybe better to do that in person, he decided.

Tacoma. Not so far from his place in Auburn, but still a bit of trek in his beat-up Scoot. He was a little embarrassed to be using it, but it had been left under some trash in the garage of his townhouse, and it had been pretty cheap to get running again. When he got some nuyen together, he'd have to get something a little less Pee-Wee Herman. Though it did have the advantage that the police never stopped him for speeding, and no one would bother stealing it if there was anything else around.

He did a quick check of his place to see if the police had messed around with anything. Didn't seem like it, but it never hurt to be careful. He stowed his Elan in his concealed holster in case they had some security at the Kratzenhamer, then headed out. Better not be one of those places that played muzak...

Riese always liked being able to drop in at Kratzenhamer. The pseudo-European architecture was welcoming, but the real draw was that imitating the arched ceilings of old world taverns meant the club-slash-bar was one of the few indoor places in Seattle where Riese could stand up straight without smacking his head on ceilings. Even troll-friendly buildings weren't meant to accommodate an extra three feet of height, and his back ached constantly as a result, but not here. He didn't have to filter his own accent through the vocal enhancer either - Franz's English was barely intelligible, and all the staff had to be able to understand it or just learn German.

"Nale, a pleasure as alvays. My friends get zeir first on my tab tonight. I'll have a Taste of Home, and a table downstream from zee stage if you kan find us von." Not many people knew about Taste of Home, the unofficial in-house nickname for the microbrew that the club's owner made by hand and was constantly tweaking the recipe for to make it 'perfect'. Riese doubted it would ever satisfy Franz, but it was a dependable solid lager while still being completely unpredictable in the subtleties.

Sheltered in the backwash of Zero's cacaphony where directional microphones would be useless, and seating himself on the outside of the table to stymie any potential lip-readers, he raised a bushy eyebrow at the anecdotes shared. "I vas also infited to chat vith Knight Errant zis afternoon, as it happens. Like you said, someone knocket over a KE arms shipment and zey are vantink it back real bad. Zey're going to bed disappointet, but zeir loss might look to be our gain if vee are playink our kards right."

*Arriving late, sweaty and in a foul mood, Remy stalked over to the bar, wiping a bit of grease and oil off his hands with some spare napkins before finding a place among the others. The loud music and shadowed atmosphere suited him well, but didn't do much for his ability to hear the others, so he adjusted his sound filters to tune the music out for the most part, giving an apologetic shrug*
"yeah. Got nicked too. Didn't have much to give 'em, 'cept the runaround. Damn bike popped an oil line on the way here too. Simple, if messy fix. Sorry about that."

*The others likely wouldn't give two steaming piles of ghoul scat whether he was late, but it was like a burr under his skin, so he had to say something. Being punctual was something he took a measure of pride in. That's what made them professionals, after all.*

*As Nale came back with the other drinks, he couldn't help but smile though. The woman had never taken fondly to him, and it amused him to no end. Maybe it was because he never had much of an eye for her. Or that he refused to speak german. Or maybe because he wasn't always the best tipper. Probably the latter.*

The waitress returns with the team's drinks, placing them on the table in front of each runner. Moving to Remy, Nale leans in to whisper something, "Steph wants to talk when you get a chance." She waits for her tip while watching Zero shift their set ........ (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u0LGi3pVB0s)

Her comm lites up with a call from her Johnson. There's a job you might want. Low risk, high reward. You need to meet with the fixer and Johnson at the Everett Yacht Club 2100. Sharp. 10,000¥.

Make a Body (6) test to avoid getting drek-faced.

His comm lights up. It's Kooya. KE has a lead on something they could use his skills on. He needs to survey* a meet going down around 2000. It pays 1,000¥ and would get Gumshoe on the path of redemption with Kooya/KE. He should look for a human 'Johnson' named Tanner.

*survey is KE jargon for getting audio and video of the meet.

His comm lights up. It's Circ. There's a nice job paying 10,000¥ at the Everett Yacht Club. Go at 2100 and meet with 'Tanner'. Something about a simple 'snatch-and-go' op. Easy money. Where's the band playing next? Tickets?

His fixer calls about a job. Be at the Everett Yacht Club at 2100 and meet with a guy named Tanner. Simple in-and-out scrub. The pay is 7,500¥. In or out?

If he looks towards the bar, he sees his bartender pal point at him and wink.

His comm lights up. Priority from 'the family'. Vladimir's capo sends a message that there's a deal going down at the Everett Yacht Club at 2100. They think getting involved would be good for you*. They stress that you do not over-react to the next piece of info: Greta is in town. Focus on the job despite any possible 'distractions'. Meet with them after for a few**.

*'good for you' means good for your status with the family and thus good for the White Vory. **means a five-figure pay-out.

Because they're your people, getting more info will be easy. The big points are (1) be at the Everett Yacht Club between 8-9 p.m. (2) meet with a human 'Johnson' named Tanner (3) the job sounds like a milk run (quick and easy). All other details you get from Tanner. The team would notice Taqukaq getting a little wasted  In-game time should be around 6 p.m. (?) so you have a few hours before the meet.

I set-up our OOC thread (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?514443-SR4A-Splintered-Shadows&p=21680556#post21680556). Please check it out and this will be the last spoiler tag on this (IC) thread.

Tanner: all contacts would know is he's a middle-man/'Johnson' associated with both Ares and Saeder-Krupp.

*Yacht club? Not many jobs started in places like that. No. Places like that were meant for snobbery, little cheese cubes and slags with more money than sense. But who was he to complain? He scowled at her, more playfully than anything, trying to hide his amusement.*
"Another kid? Sheesh, Steph. You know what causes those things, right?"

*He can't help but chuckle. As hard as she worked, the woman seemed to genuinely enjoy her life, and from everything he'd seen, was a hell of a mom. Didn't split or dump the kid in a bin. That's always a step in the right direction.*
"I'll see what my friends think, but you know I always appreciate you keeping me in mind when this kind of thing shows up."

*Slipping his comm open, he beams over a good share of creds and smiles, this time, not bothering trying to hide it. It was a rare enough thing for him to feel a smile reaching all the way to his eyes.*
"Hey. Congrats, eh? I'm happy for you. If the jobs worth more, I'll see what else I can get your way. For now, I'll get to work, but you got my number if you need anything, alright?"

*He turns to walk back to the group, but stops and raises a hand to punctuate the next words.*
"Except diapers. I don't do poopy, Steph. Just so we're clear."

*Smiling, he heads back to the table and slips in next to his teammates, listening to them talk for a minute. It doesn't take long to figure out that they've gotten the same proposal.*
"Yachts? This Hum Tanner can afford a yacht, I'm thinking we should definitely haggle, but anyone else think it's weird that there's so much talk about this job? Just saying. Scantily-clad and vivacious women stroll around the area walking towards the parking area or at the building while giving the crew hard looks. There's quite a few people out and about at the club. Maybe a party or something. Most of the people are human with a few elves mixed in. Even those odd 'half-elves' that carry physiological traits of both species. There's an air of gaiety to the night and this place. People having fun.

Site security stops you near the door, checking I.D.s. You notice a few of them as Knight Errant officers from earlier. They give you curious looks, smile, and when you mention Tanner, let you in saying you need to 'mind your manners here'. This was a primary KE site and they would respond in-force and unfriendly to any call. A few sexy women and an androgynous elf or two try to slide in along with you saying you're their 'boyfriend' (you decide how that goes).

In the lobby more security calls for a pat-down. Finding weapons, they give you a hard time and almost call for back-up until you mention Tanner, then they relent, letting you pass but telling you to 'take it easy here'. The lobby is nothing short of luxurious! Chandeliers, wall-to-wall polished tile, hand-servants offering champagne glasses, the scent of wild rosemary, the sound of electronic music (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ephe5oYg1Sk&index=72&list=PLw-VjHDlEOgvvecEeS-BC-qFhweKjZJ2I) in the background, many of the guests looking at you curiously ..........

A bald, tattoed Asian female dressed in a skin-tight glossy, reflective suit displaying too much of her anatomy underneath walks up to the you, "Follow me." She escorts you to an empty table-booth overlooking the marina. Waiters immediately arrive and ask what you desire to drink. Like the bar earlier, women and trans-its at the bar and nearby eye you almost hungrily. This place is so clean and so electric it doesn't seem like the quaint club you expected. A middle-aged couple dressed in exotic clothing pass your table walking their cat-dog hybrid and smile.

The A/V here is wild. Anyone using Augmented or Matrix sees an incredible expanse of vibrant jungle with people becoming animals and animals becoming people. The digital moon blazes like a midnight sun as birds sing myriad songs. The 'birds' are the many digital sensors scattered across the club monitoring activity. Anything you do here is watched. The room is warm and friendly. For now at least. No sign of Tanner.

Taqukaq smiles pleasantly, throwing on a face that many of the group have never seen before today. A civilized and pleasant face, it seems her tired angry circles are all gone and her messy hair was wound up in a gorgeous bun adorned with flawless looking feathers. Her bun is tied down with a scrunchy that looks as if it is made of bear teeth. The collar to her white and black dress was the fluffy poof of white wolf fur. Her dress itself was made of fur from a black wolf. Very soft but not poofy like the collar. It went down tightly down her hips but then spanned out loosely in a practical but elegant manner that did not hinder her movement. She wore black heeled boots that she walked with surprising ease. She was prettied up with some Native body paint on her arms. She looked like one of the wealthy Native American's in the area but with a more northern vibe.

Entering into the area, she blatantly ignored the women who tried to come in with them. They may be competition... We have no way of knowing that we are the only people with this job lead. She was not playing their game. When they walked in she grabbed the first glass of Champaign that was being offered to guests and drank it rather quickly before disposing it on another passing tray. When we arrived to the area and Tanner had not shown up yet she thought... First thing's first. She turns to the waiter while we have the time waiting for Tanner. She was feeling as fancy as this place.

You will be my new best friend for the night. I'm looking for a 2001 Opus One Nappa Valley Red. This seems like a place that might carry that. Now that we are friends will you be my knight in shining armor and tell me that you have a glass of that in stock?

She gives a sideways smile at the waiter.

*The rain had lessened somewhat from the torrential downpour of earlier in the day, and after a quick stop at his flat to get dressed for the occasion, he hops on his bike and thoroughly enjoys the cool breeze clipping around him, and the relatively clean air after the hard rain.*

*As he approaches the club, he starts noting details. He didn't often leave home with so little firepower on him, though he could make due with nothing more than the light pistol and a blade in a pinch, but it set him on edge, and he started to consider what that might say about him - that carrying less than a full load of hardware made him feel vulnerable. Now wasn't the time, however.*

*Faces come and go, bodies moving and shifting through the people waiting to get in the doors, and he recognizes a couple of the officers, but minds his manners until he's allowed inside for the meet. He's not here to start trouble - he's here to get paid, but as he makes his way toward the guards, he spots a small trio of women - two humans and an orc, dressed to the nines, small clutches held as they wait to get in. It must be an exclusive place. No wonder. Big money always draws people in.*

*Moving over to the group, he clears his throat and flashes a bit of a wolfish grin before speaking.*
"Excuse me, ladies? Could I borrow your friend here? I hate walking into places like this all alone, and she looks quite ravishing. I swear to be a gentleman so long as she requests it."
*He's met with a little shock, but just gives that same smile and offers his arm the orc woman, her sleek evening dress accentuating her strong curves and graceful movements. It wasn't easy looking that good in expensive material.*

*As they walk, he leans in a bit and speaks quietly.*
"I'm sorry. I'm here for a business arrangement, but I saw you, and thought it would be a good way to get you to have at least one drink with me. You don't mind too much, do you?"

*He chuckles, and leads her up the security checkpoint and through, making small talk as they go. When he finally spots Taq, makes a mental note and turns to his 'date'.*
"If you'll excuse me, I have to attend to something, but I trust you know how to enjoy yourself, I'll catch up with you after?"

*With a smile, he turns away and heads to Taq, his face quickly going flat and blank in practiced discipline. Slipping up next to the stunning woman, he adjusts the collar of his tailored suit and looks down at her, speaking softly after the waiter leaves with an order for water.*
"Wow. Always amazed by how you clean up. Even in a Mortimer suit, I feel outclassed."

Gumshoe drives himself to the club. Just one look at the place and he can tell how out of place he is, even cleaned up as he is. They'd have never assign this post to him back in the day. The fact that this is KE territory does not help matters. Even in the truce they have he never knew who was stationed inside and if they held a grudge against him. Brushing off the tag alongs, he steps in, feeling out of place. Why couldn't this meeting happen in a seedy place in the underworld?

He warmly welcomes the elf's invitation to step off the spotlight. They end up in a big room. Wonder how many candidates there'll be for the job. Finding the gang, he falls in back with them, leaving the waiter with a simple order of whatever beer they have in stock.

"Didn't figure you as knowing about posh booze." he says to Taq. He is surprised and a little embarassed that she seems more at home then he did.

Once **** hits the fan...ill have my fun, but honestly im hoping this is a quick and safe run. I dont want a chance of it failing. Gotta pay my bills. You dont look too bad yourself, bravo. He'd had the damn thing tailored, but it still seemed like it didn't fit him properly. He sighs, and keeps scanning for other runners looking to get in.

'No, no, no, no, yes.'

He grins as he makes a slight detour to snag one of the girls out of the line, putting his arm around her, he gets her and her gear through security with as little hassle as possible.

Once inside he leans in and whispers, "I'm not going to be terribly offended if you slip away to take care of some business, omae. Just try to keep it away from my crew, yeah?"

She flashes him a grin and slips away into the crowd, no doubt already setting some sort of run into motion. He smiles and turns toward his table, commlink spinning up as he sets his own programs to active. No Johnson would be screwing over the team this time.

"Taq, Remy, Gum, you all look good, any sign of Mister Tanner yet?"

Stacatto is wearing a charcoal-black suit, but it doesn't drape right - it's off the rack, and he has an orc's wide shoulders, but a lean and wiry physique that'd better suit an elf.

He goes tight-lipped and stern after they find his Elan. Sure, it wasn't going to do much good in any likely situation, but it made him more comfortable thinking it was undetected. Plus, another disturbance in the flow, after that girl trying to jump the line. Whatever he'd whispered to her, she hadn't played along smoothly and her excuse for not coming in after all - forgotten something - wasn't at all convincing.

Just in case, he had a look around for a good way out if they need one. The water might do...

He tried to relax. "She does clean up nice," he acknowledged to Gumshoe, nodding in Taqukak's direction. He'd been just as surprised, but had more time to become accustomed on the ride here.

"Anything we need to worry about?" he asked Los-Res, as he scanned his electronics.

Lo-Res snags a cocktail off a passing waiter, and sips carefully. "The usual. Growing control of megacorps, the erosion of freedoms, pollution, rising crime rates, whoever sculpted this AR seems determined to make me suffer, and this cocktail doesn't have enough vermouth in it. But other than that, not much really. Some sensors have picked us up, but I'll spoof those readings once we're done here. Any sign of our Johnson?"

Riese cruises in on his Trollhammer, parking the oversized bike neatly in a space near the exit. His suit is, by necessity, a tailored outfit from Mortimers of London - one of the perks of being 'in' with Seattle's White Vory. Once he makes it past the security, though, the sheer noise hits his augmented hearing like a hammer, and he takes a moment to cycle its gain down to merely human ranges before heading in to find his teammates. The architecture works to his favor here; high ceilings are expensive, and the rich enjoy showing off their status, so for the second time in a night he's able to move indoors without hunching. He scans well over the heads of the assembled guests to spot the others and moves to join them. As always in crowds, in expensive settings, and doubly so in both, his movements are precise and almost ponderous until he reaches the group.

*Picking up a clear bottle of water, he pops the safety seal and shrugs.*
"We didn't dig the world into the hole it's in. We're just here to try and climb out on someones shoulders. At least the view is nice. "

*After a slow drink, he shrugs and smiles, raising a hand to quickly motion to Riese.*
"I didn't know suits look better scaled up. Welcome to the party."

*It wasn't uncommon for Johnsons to keep teams waiting, though rarely for too long. Jobs were too time sensitive to waste it playing games. That's why the massive corporate juggernauts needed people like them. Small, independent, able to act quickly and decisively. As he looked around the room and spotted one camera after the next, he couldn't help but feel like the group was being less watched, and more stalked. But then, that could just be his paranoia.*

Riese and the others continue to get a lot of looks. The crew's new friends are typical partyers, more class than trash, and don't seem bothered by the team's looks. They just assume you're all rich bad-asses and want as much of a cut as they can get. Lots of small talk and flirting, until a slender glasses-wearing man in a khaki suit walks up, "Good evening. I believe you are all here to meet someone. Please follow me and maybe your 'friends' can wait here? These are sensitive matters."

The man walks out a tall sliding-glass double-door that leads from the clubhouse down a winding path to the docks and rows of expensive boats. The crew sees what looks like a new groom and bride posing for pictures with a crowd of well-wishers looking on. The man speaks without stopping or turning to the crew, "Apologies for the timing. It seems a wedding party has overtaken what's normally a more sedate environment. A contingency was arranged beforehand." He continues down a pier past several fine yachts until the crew arrives at an exceptional white craft that's at least one hundred meters in length. The man ushers them aboard past two dockworkers in EYC uniforms, crossing a cybernetic walkway that automatically retracts from the dock once the last person steps onto the ship. A low bell rings on the yacht as it silently begins moving away from the pier, the dockworkers making sure the tether-ropes are gathered away.

Walking inside the cabin is similar to entering a luxury den; plush white-leather sofas, soft-blue interior lighting, wall-to-wall white carpeting, angular coffee tables with several empty wine glasses on them. The man says, "Please be seated and forgive the humble accommodations. It was a rushed alternative to the clubhouse. Your team was recommended by some very highly-regarded sources in and around the metroplex so firstly I must thank you for taking the time to see us." He squats, opens a mini-fridge and withdraws a chilled bottle of wine. Standing again, he expertly peels the seal, 'pops' the cork with a utensil and walks to the scattered wine glasses slowly pouring each half-full. He sets the bottle down and takes a seat furthest from the crew, "Now. Please tell me your names so that I can verify identities."

The man is very unassuming and polite. Caucasian, short brown hair, brown eyes, simple black eyeglasses, 5'9", around 68 kg. His suit is above-average in quality along with his shoes. The cabin is an ideal temperature and the wine has an exquisite fragrance. Through the windows, the crew can tell the yacht is sailing slowly from the harbor, but there's very little engine sound and no vibration.

Gumshoe welcomes the arrival of the man. He was never much for crowds and he'd be happy to be in a more secure place. He didn't, however, like the fact that it took place in a boat, which meant few escape routes and Gumshoe was not a particularly good swimmer. It having an abundance of plastics which meant he was itching all over and getting a bit red was just the cherry on the cake. Luckily his outfit covered a lot of skin.

That always made for a rough start to the night.*

*In the luxury of the cabin, he couldn't help but look down at the slight prints they'd tracked in from the pier onto the pristine white carpet and smirk. Score one more for the little guy - take that status quo!*

*When it finally comes to him to introduce himself, he shrugs and meets the mans eyes without hesitation.*
"Remy, though your references may have used my handle. Deadman. Anyone can say they are us, but you've got enough intel to know the basics, and assembling a group of people to match our description in such a short time would be next to impossible. Especially him."

The only catch is that it has to be done in a very short timeframe. I need an item retrieved from a nearby business and brought back here. Security should be minimal, with no need for overt violence, although to be honest,” he sniffs, “I really don’t care at all what you do to get it. The pay is 10,000 nuyen for your group to split up as you see fit. If you agree, I’ll tell you where you’re going and what you’re looking for."

Luckily the American Manifest destiny prepared me for that before the corperatjons. We always lived out of reach from civilization... it never effected my culture. But now comes the issue with our pay. Lets discuss it some if you dont mind. As you can plainly see, there are six of us. 10,000 Nuyen may sound like alot but when divided evenly between six people, it comes out to be less than two thousand per man.... Yeah. Last Job we had did the same thing. It simply was not enough, we could just rob some gas station register and make the same ammount of money without the significantly higher risk of dying. I was thinking around 20,000 split evenly between six people. That is just a little over 3,000 per person. Might be a good start for a six man job. We can also guarantee you a successful job or your money back. We will keep the tracheas though...Well... I will. What are your thoughts?

Riese's smile is more genuine now, slipping into the sort of situation where he's most comfortable and sitting up even in the relatively cramped stateroom to take charge of the situation the way only a twelve foot tall man can.

"Easy now, Taq, let's not be scaring a potential repeat customer away this quickly."

Whether Tak was playing greedy to set him up as the reasonable bargainer, or whether she was just drunk, was uncertain. Either way he could roll with it.

To Tanner, he replies, "It's a tempting offer, but as my colleague has implied, you may need to 'sweeten the pot' somewhat. After all, you have said yourself that we come highly recommended by our various sources, in addition to the experience of having worked together previously. In particular, the last job we worked turned out to be much more complicated than promised by the Johnson, and furthermore the fixer contracted to serve as go-between cheated us and stole most of the paycheck when it was finished. So we are currently a little, I believe the expression is 'gun-shy' when it comes to jobs promised to be swift and easy. Doubling the paycheck is, I think, I bit premature assuming you are being honest with the expected parameters, but some up-front cash would do admirably to soothe certain suspicious instincts. Say, an extra twenty percent as an initial deposit, remainder to be provided upon completion? Only an extra 2,000 nuyen to secure our peerless services for this job, as well as consideration for any future tasks your employers might wish completed. Against this we wager our reputations, of course, the most valuable possession any has in our particular line of work."

Tanner looks at Taqukaq and then Riese seemingly taking in their offers. He leans forward, reaching into his suit side-pocket and produces a small cred-stick which he sets on the table nearest Riese, "Two-thousand up front, correct? Done. Based on how you've described your last outing, this endeavor should prove much more routine, perhaps. Now. What I need is a commlink. An Erika Elite model. It is currently in the possession of a dwarf named Oxycode, a small-time pimp, pusher, 'hustler'. My client is not concerned about what happens to him. He could live to see tomorrow or vanish forever for all they care. I just need his commlink. He is currently checked-in room 312 at the Novelty Hills Sleep & Eat. That means the commlink should be there too. Do you have any questions? If not you should get going. I need that commlink tonight"

Taqukaq tells the group everything she already knows about him. Says something about her probably going to have to kill him out of principle. Do we have anyone with paramilitary security contacts? Law enforcement? Maybe we can find out who the FBI handler is and maybe hack his commlink, copy the information and use it to draw him out. We could also tru to use a burner. That might be less risky but may not be as successful. I think we should try to draw him out, have a quick method of escape, that will make it easier to kill him... because...i will...kill him.

But lets come up with a plan. Luring him out is an idea. We can sneak in but he will likely be in a surveillance box. Will be very difficult to get to him. If we lure him they would have to break down and set up and we can operate in that short window. But the man is a snitch. Tundras children kill snitches, my gangs number one rule.

If this was an audition, though, the complications might be an intended obstacle?

"If we want to get into his room somehow, we'd need a good distraction. Spike Redclaw's drugs with something, so he freaks out? Stage a fight outside his door, while someone ninjas in the back way? Or breaks through a wall; place looks real cheap. Hey - can we confirm where his comm is? Like, within maybe a meter? Save a lot of time searching for it in a dark room."

"Or, I don't know. This guy makes deals. Maybe he'll sell us the comm. Doesn't matter if he copies everything - our client doesn't seem to care if anyone else gets the info he has. Maybe they just need confirmation. Just so long as he doesn't wipe the thing, I think they'd be OK."

"Or we could make a distraction. I've got the right gear to slip inside without getting seen if we can get any prying eyes looking another direction while I do. Maybe a back door or side door?
Lo-Res, any luck with building schematics? I'd settle for underground or roof access too. Anything to go with."

*Pulling his pistol out, he pops the clip and sets it aside, the weapon coming apart swiftly in his hands as he pulls out a small cloth and wire brush, his hands cleaning the action and barrel with practiced motions as he talks.*

"Worst case scenario, there's a room full of security and we have to neutralize them. Flash bangs or gas grenades. They're not likely to be wearing air filters all the time."

"Or, we could rent a room there, not gas a bunch of feds, and just slip in and out quiet as a mouse."

Lo Res takes a pull from a clear bottle he pulls out from under his jacket.

"Yeah, best if they never knew we were there," Stacatto agreed. "Going to have to go there in person to see what the possibilities are, I think. Uh, we're really going to need a vehicle that can take all of us, though. Anyone know someone who can get us something disposable on short notice? Or we could rent something commercial if anyone has a fake ID to burn."

Taqukaq grins.

I might have a guy... He was one of my old gang members... low level guy, but he might have a van or something bigger we can use.

Taqukaq gets on her commlink and messages one of her most loyal gang members other than Axion. The mans name is Grux, sometimes focusing in theft and some grand theft auto, he mostly just went with Taqukaq to kill people. Still worth a shot.

(Grux, its Taqukaq. I have a favor to ask you... I need a van or a large capacity personnel carrier. Do you have anything like that?)

Thanks, Lo, that'll come in handy to hunt him down.

"Once we get there I might be able to detect how many feds they have on duty. He's a snitch, but doesn't seem like high priority. I just hope the place isn't very popular, crowds make magic readings much more difficult."

"Yeah. I don't have a burner SiN right now. It's on the budget, but that doesn't do us any good. I don't know, maybe Lo-res can spoof a room and loop the local security feed, so they don't get us on camera? That's a thought too."

*Reassembling his pistol, he stretches his arms, pulling on his fingers to loosen the ligaments and tendons - an old practice, but effective.*
"I'm not fond of walking into there as plain as day, thank you ma'am, but can't rule it out just yet, right?"

Taqukaq sits there, glaring at her commlink. As if she is trying to force her will on it. She can almost hear the screams of her enemies as she can see in her head, her force feeding someone a lamp and kneeing them in the throat to shatter it.

In all actuality everyone just hears her growl and look at her phone like a lunatic.

Around 10:30 p.m.

If not for the sad neon sign and pushy AROs loudly proclaiming it the “Novelty Hills Sleep And Eat,” you’d think this structure was exactly what it used to be: a large warehouse. Down the street is a Stuffer Shack so encrusted in graffiti it’s almost unrecognizable; every other building in the immediate
neighborhood is condemned, or ought to be. A trio of beleaguered looking prostitutes—human, elf, and dwarf—in torn fishnet hose, synthleather jackets, and miniskirts loiters at one corner of the motel. A few other similarly destitute customers come and go, renting and abandoning rooms, buying and selling drugs, or shuttling stuffers back and forth from the Shack. But the area is mostly deserted. Through the large glass windows above the motel’s main doors, which bleed weak yellow light onto the dark, smog-ceilinged streets, you can see the three-tiered, pipe-framed access catwalk setup. Outside one of the motel rooms several sportbikes are parked in a near huddle but no one is standing around them.

It’s time to make your approach, chummer. Plan and execute, but do it in a hurry. The night is ticking away.

"Until we figure out the best way to go, I'm going to find a spot I can watch the room from. The front, anyhow. See if I can spot anything, maybe figure out if he has anybody watching over him. Wouldn't hurt to check out the back too - think they've got windows facing that way. Going to take a little time to spot anything, but that'll give you a chance to try to work other angles," Stacatto suggests. "If anything goes really wrong, Charlie and I can make some noise, cover a getaway." He pats the smallish dufflebag he's carrying.

"I am going to...collect some information. Ill come back and let you guys know what i got. "

Taqukaq had dressed back in her regular savage clothes, the dead animals sewn together in a way that looked barbaric but was actually quite well done. She still looked crazy as she walked up to the group of hookers.

" Hello ladies. Lets talk a bit.

She had a sly smile on her face when she walked up, then she giggled and spoke once more.

Hey girls, im looking for an orc named redclaw and his dwarf friend. I have a little surprise for them if you get my meaning.

She giggled harmlessly trying to elude that sex was the surprise instread of her chopping off their arms and legs, cutting out their stomachs and riding down the stairs using the torso as a meat toboggan.

Her smile was genuin now, the meat toboggan always cheered her up.

Good thinking Stac. I'll handle the back. Be right back, omaes, wish me luck.

Gumshoe will head towards the backside of the rooms, trying to stay in the middle of them. He then tries to find a place to cast without being noticed. Focusing, he begins manipulating essense from the air, chanting softly. Soon he's formed strands and with those strands he could form multiple prisms in a row, with increasingly complexity. For a moment, before disapearing, someone with a sharp eye would think it was a perfect replica of the motel behind him, incluiding even the people.

(I'll go get us a room. Let me know when you're done with the joygirls Taq.)

Lo-Res adjusts his jacket and steps off his bike, ignoring the hookers as he walks past them to the main office. He approaches the receptionist, and says in a slightly furtive manner, "Got any rooms for one night?"

The human-female hookers look Taqukaq over and give each other odd looks before one of them says, "You lookin' for work, honey? Never seen you 'round her before. You don't look like no meat puppet, but Oxycode can fix that. Quick. Watch yourself with him. He'll frag up your pretty face, honey. You want dorphs or what? He's over in room 312. Tell him 'Lise sent you and buy enough for me and my friends, okay? I need a hit bad."

Walking into the office, Lo-Res sees a slender human male in his 20's behind the desk jamming to his simsense rig. He seems to have not seen or heard the runner then while staring off into space says, "One double left. 200¥. Check-out at eleven. Pets are 50¥ extra." A digital A/V registration form for the motel appears on your link awaiting 'eSig'.

Taqukaq spins on her heels and walks away, waving. She gives them a wink.

Thanks girlies, ill keep you in mind.

Taqukaq walks in and walks up to Lo-res, she flashes the desk clerk a shy grin. She lightly taps Lo-Res on the shoulder.

You got the room?

She gives his shoulder a squeeze, hopefully giving him an idea that she actually got something from the hookers. Its a hit or miss though, he probabably just thinks she is playing another role. She is, but she tries to nonverbally communicate. She stops and figures that once we get to the room she can give him the scoop.

Taqukaq waits until we pay and get in the room before telling him Oxycodes whereabouts.

The crew gets room 313, right next to Oxycode's. Turning on the light scatters the roaches in what what could be the nastiest room they've ever seen. The stench of urine dominates the place with the walls, bedspread and carpet all stained beyond recognition. About what one might expect from a dive like this. There is a bathroom at the back of the 30x30x10 room and a small guide listing the best porn nodes. The runners can hear a loud voice coming from room 315 next door but the language isn't english. 315 is where the large group of motorcycles are parked outside the door.

Next door to the runner they get Spreretheil chat - someone is angry about your crew telling the tale on them! They want to hunt down your crew and kill all of you! They talk about the beast and magic and how killing 'Gumshoe's Crew' would be so good! There must be 5-8 Elfs next door looking for trouble! They speak a version of Speretheil mixed with Spanish that is nasty. They mean to kill your whole crew.

Lo-res blinks. (We've got company next door. Ancients I think. Pissed off about Gumshoe selling them out to KE. Don't know if they know we're here, or this is just Karma. I'm gonna get started on this firewall, but they sound pretty pissed off. Just a thing to look out for.)

While he's sending that quick message to the group, Lo-Res stretches out and makes himself comfortable on the bed. He's slept on worse. And it's about to not matter, as he slips into VR and surveys the virtual landscape of this crummy dive.

"Huh. So that's who the bikers are. They can have Gumshoe, I guess," Stacatto drawled in reply.

After a pause, he continues. "Joking. All set up. I'll keep an eye on the guys next door. Gumshoe better stay low, though. Riese too," Stacatto said. "We'd better not take long. Ancients being here doesn't sound like a coincidence."

They weren't being paid to shoot Ancients - yet, anyhow. And better not to kill any bystanders, especially cops. He's loaded with gel rounds, and, just in case, flash-bang grenades in the grenade launcher.

Damn. He didn't like the way things were headed. But he could feel it, now, the rhythm of the moment. He mouthed a percussion track silently as he sighted the Alpha on the room next door, reading the range through the smartlink. An easy shot if they came that way. Did they have sentries posted? Or maybe the feds had a little spy drone or something. He scans the surroundings - roof maybe?

The room door where the Ancients are opens and five walk out: they are wearing skin-tight purple outfits with bullet-proof vests. Most of them are wearing either military-style boots or high heels! Each elf wears a purple "doo-rag" on their head with their elongated ears sticking out. They ramble in their Sperethiel-Spanish language laughing and looking around. They are armed with handguns and sub-machineguns. They have not noticed the runners anywhere - YET. They stand around their bikes just outside the room and seem to be smoking some kind of cigar that they pass among themselves.

Well, they better get in line, I've pissed off bigger fish. Anyhow, yeah, I'll try and be as inconspicuous as possible. Which, considering our team, I have a clear advantage, I think. Let's see if the bastard is home and if he has company.

Focusing the arcane energies, first he arranges the strands of mana, forming a palm-sized human shaped doll. As he thinks about the target's intel that Lo-Res provided the figure becomes shorter and stockier, like a Dwarf, and it begins to take similar facial structures as him as well.

We have bigger issues than gangers now, omaes. Just did a magical scan on the targets room. It'seems empty. No life signs whatsoever. Nada. Think we may have been played. Do we break in?

"Even if it is a trap, don't think they'll be satisfied without some proof that phone isn't here," Stacatto suggests. "And the dwarf might just have used one room as a decoy, and be staying in another. Hell, might even have been captured by the bikers. Any way to tell where the phone is for sure?"

Hmm - if that room was a decoy, he might want to be close enough to hear if someone broke in. While keeping an eye on the bikers was his priority, Stacatto tries to get a look at nearby rooms, a few doors away - end of the row, maybe.
