Accommodations:

We will have a meeting area at the Best Western on N. Roan. It should be available to us starting at 6PM Friday evening until checkout time Sunday morning. As part of the booking, we have told them we will fill up a 10 room block. The room rates are pretty great. $70/night. These rates will apply to Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night. Please make sure to let them know which nights you are staying. You are not obligated to stay all four nights, it's just setup that way, so that we have enough rooms blocked off.

The number to contact the Best Western at is: 423/282-2161.
The group name for this block is "Trogland Group."
Reservations must be made before TBA.
Please let me know when you reserve one of these rooms, so that we can keep track of what is left/available.

Room Count(Confirmed): 0
*They will add extra rooms, but we'll need to make sure to get at least 10.

Hotel Amenities include:
Restaurant on-site
Cocktail lounge
Complimentary breakfast

When:

Begins: June 16th, 2017
Ends: June 18th, 2017

No official events will be happening outside this time!
However, feel free to coordinate with other attendees if you think you may be arriving early/leaving late, to form your own events.

Why:

Quite simply, because it's fun. Trogland is full of people. The Trogland Meetup is attended by some of the most awesome people in all of Trogland. Do you really want to miss that?

OK EVERYBODY

Trogland XI Approaches!

We're looking forward to another prime gaming weekend! Can we really make this go to 11!? Stranger things have happened...

Kicking around ideas for games to run this year, too.

The registration site at trogland.penguinsushi.com (http://trogland.penguinsushi.com) is up and running! As always, do your best to register by May 31st - so we know more specifically how many attendees to plan on. Sooner is always better.

--

Here's a few logistical details on this year:

1) As Mango noted, the event has been moved up a week. This is partly due to some scheduling conflicts among the organizers, but mostly because that last weekend already had someone booked in the conference room for this year. (We actually had a suspicion last year that the last weekend might not work this year due to some other local events.)

2) As you may have noticed, the registration cost has NOT gone up this year like it was expected to!!! The hotel is under new management, but my contact there was keen to keep our business and our contract - our costs did not increase, ergo, neither did yours. In fact, I think the hotel group rate for rooms (which I've also been told have been renovated) actually went down a buck or two per night - she quoted me $70/night for this year (I'm not aware of a cut-off time for reservations, but sooner is always better). (From talks with our contact, we should be able to keep these rates indefinitely - but for me this is always a year-to-year thing. I make no promises there.)

3) In addition to Saturday/Sunday, we're actually getting the meeting hall for Friday as well - so any who are arriving before our annual gathering at Mid City (or any who would prefer to skip out on that one) can hang out in our con space - and we'll also be able to reconvene there afterward for fun & games as well. We are good to do our Saturday cookout there like last year, use the lawn for Kubb/etc (contact said hopefully their efforts have eliminated the ants), and use the pool as well (even any of those who aren't staying at the hotel).

I'll be there. Will talk to the spouse, see if she wants to attend this year.

Edit: Suggestion for the meeting hall for Friday night: Karaokoe! Any idea how much it would cost to rent a machine, or hire someone that does that for a night?

As much as I'd really love to, I can't make it this year.
The past two years have been awesome to meet you guys, but this year, my finances are just nowhere near where they need to be to be able to head over the pond again.

You need to tell Bob Schwab he should check it out, especially since he's apparently not going to GenCon this year. hehe

Also, are there any game requests that people have?

We can do that. But, if anyone else wishes to split a room, then I wouldn't mind if you offered to help them out instead.

I shall, once again, be driving down. If anyone wishes a ride.

How far out of the way was where I live for you?

And nobody else seems to be asking for a roommate, so may as well do it again this year, unless somebody posts/PMs me soon.

Just PM me whatever my share of the room and gas money is.

One morning, would anyone be interested in doing some Geocaching in Kingsport? Bay's Mountain has lots of trails, and lots of caches for finding. In particular, there is a good one called Mjolnir. A clumsy Asgardian seems to have dropped a hammer nearby. Its really heavy, none of the cacher's have been able to lift it.....yet.

Let me know if you're interested. Dewayne's World Comic's and Games in nearby, as well, so those brave adventurers can stop by afterwards if we desire.

Let me know if there is interest or if people would rather stick to the comforts of the gaming area.

Thanks,

I haven't discussed the ride situation with them yet, but tyckspoon and Kina said they were coming this year so I'll probably ride with them this time. I guess it depends on when exactly they want to leave/return since I generally like to get there earlier and stay later than they can get off work (e.g. get there Thursday evening and stay until Monday morning).

Seriously though, we'll miss you.

Rabbit? You too? Dang.

KuReshtin!? EEERRRRRGGGG! That sucks, man! We've gotten used to having you. Also, where is my daughter going to get cool scottish imports now?

Recaiden!? Other peoples!? Ugh.

Ok, people. The rest of you are going to have to work extra hard to pick up some slack.

Raldor - glad to hear it! More NTYE this year?

Chambers - I'm not going to talk you into Battletech again, am I? :smallamused:

I know. I've started to get used to heading to the US in the middle of summer. I guess I'm just going to have to go visit my family in Sweden instead.
Cool scottish imports can be had even if I can't make it.

So we're down to just about 2 months till the big show.

The registration site (http://trogland.penguinsushi.com) is still up, running, and available. It's reporting 57 days on its countdown.

Try to get registrations in by the end of May - and sooner is better. The sooner we know what our attendance looks like, the sooner we can sort out how much of what we need.

Any talk about what kinds of games people would like to see this year?

Good, good.

Trogland XI Complete!

Thanks to everyone who made it another great year. Organ Attack got a lot of play, I discovered Roll for the Galaxy (which I LOVED), and Vast looked really cool. My Battletech and Little Fears games were a blast (one more literally than the other) and our first Trogland Geocaching excursion to Mjolnir was a lot of fun, too (next year: Excalibur). A few of us managed to get in a couple games of Kubb.

So many games, so many laughs, so many good times.

Hopefully those of you who couldn't make it out for one reason or another will be around next year.

Until then: smooth sailing, my friends.

I enjoyed the Geocaching. Even with the scars left upon my legs. (Reminder: Where long pants for Geocaching next year.) It was great fun helping Mango and Reverent One destroy the Archer Mech, even at the cost of my own. It was fun, and perhaps I will play again next year, if there is a place. LOVED Little Fears. Definitely will be back to continue that story.

Games I enjoyed playing were Resident Evil, Zombicide: Dark Ages (or whatever it's called), Battlestar Galactica (of course), Favor of the Pharaoh, 5 Tribes, 7 Wonders, and Walk the Plank.

My favorite moments were twofold: 1} my promotion from henchpixie to Henchpixie. Only took what, 8 or 9 years? 2} Walking in on Ceika as she announced that she'd been 'promised a pixie'. Perfect timing was had. 3} Kinda, almost, overshadowing the yearly con-swag with a gift of my own. So those were my three favorite moments. Oh, and 4} When I offered my services as Henchpixie to De at the iHop gathering. Shouldn't have done so in front of Mister Llama, I suppose. :smalltongue:

Organ Attack looked like great fun.

I love going to Trogland. Cannot wait to see you all again, next year. Thank you.
