I've just started DMing 5e fairly recently after leaving 3.5, and it's gone well so far. Both of the fights ended up about where I wanted them difficulty wise, but my party is about to start fighting humanoid enemies. I'm wondering if I should be giving these enemies class levels, should I save that for bosses, or not do it at all? What would the expected CR of a PC race with PC class levels? I want the next fight to be dangerous, but I'm worried that if I get this wrong it could easily end up being a stomp in one direction or the other.
