Paladin possibilities?

Thinking of ideas for a future character or NPC.

I'm toying an idea of a Paladin who believes his is acting for the greater good, whether you know it or agree with it or not, is slightly fanatical, hateful of his enemies and either touched by a god or a tad narcissistic.

What is the most interesting Paladin I can make? I'm imagining an Oath of Vengeance Paladin? I think Oathbreaker is going too far into darkness.

In terms of subclass, any, really. Devotion may be tricky with its oaths, but it's doable. Vengeance sounds like the fittest. It can be translated into a flaw: "I can't be corrupted. My heart is pure, my intentions noble."

Touched by a god sounds like a touch of Favored Soul, or maybe Warlock if he doesn't know the entity itself is a god.

Oh wow, a Paladin touched by a god who he believes to be good but turns out evil.

That would totally give a fellow a tilted outlook on the world.
