I like this. Magic-users are a grandiose, sesquipedalian lot and their thaumaturgic appellations would be suffused with the grandiloquence endemic to their metier.

LOL I had to look up most of those words, but actually I love apellations and metier!

I confess I went to thesaurus.com to find more florid synonyms for some of the words in the first draft, though I did know all the words I ended up using with the the exception of 'metier'.

There's a doc out there somewhere which goes through 30 spells per level of ad&d magic user spells from first to sixth level, and gives them vancian names, while cutting the spell descriptions down to a sentence or two per spell.

Here's a copy in my dropbox

https://www.dropbox.com/s/l1sld6hn3hjyyn8/D%26D%20-%20Vancian%20Magic%20Supplement.pdf?dl=0

What is first level spell 'The Imperturbable Quiescent Sphere', the second level 'The Spur to the Libidinous Earth', the third level 'Phandaal's Vitriolic Critique', the fourth level 'The Charm of the Inverted Pervulsion', the fifth level 'Yon's Obliging Parapet', or the sixth level spell 'The Spell of the Stone that Weeps in Silence'?

Download and find out!
