So, I'm going to play on a new table with some friends and decided to go with a caster. But i'm really indecisive about wich one, so here are my ideas:

A) Elven generalist/incantrix with collegiate: going for a lot of spels know and using incantrix for metamagic. In this build I would fill more than one role, like utility caster, buffer and blaster on the free times.

B) Ultimate magus: I thought about going for UM for using spontaneous slots to get metamagic on wizard spells. I'm don't have an idea on what race to play, maybe Drow if LA buyoff is allowed and we start at a higher level, I can also just go Elven generalist again here. With UM I would strike for having 5 level spells on the spontaneous side and easy metamagic so I can persist stuff and if the party needs some extra damage I was thinking on using the spontaneous side for some extra.

C) Mailman: pretty self explanatory, going for a dragonblood sorcerer focusing on blasting stuff. My question here is if the mailman can get around at lower levels(1 - 4).

So some additional info about the campaign:
I can't be item dependent. DM has a history of not giving much wealth or not following the WBL table. So I wouldn't count on knowstones for sorcerer. I don't know what level we will start, but i'm pretty sure is something around 1 to 6.

So, can you guys highlight the points about this builds? I barely played wizard before, but i know some of the tricks.

A: Solid choices all around, if you won't reliably be able to find additional spells to learn be sure to also include the Collegiate Wizard feat (CA p181).

B: If you go Illumian (Krau/anything) Beguiler 1/ Wizard 4/ UM 10 with Practiced Spellcaster: Beguiler, you can add 10/10 UM spellcasting to Wizard. At level 15, you'll be casting as a 14th level Wizard at a caster level of 19, and as an 8th level Beguiler with a caster level of 18. Be sure to take Beguiler at level 1 for the skill points, and Illumians are Humanoid (Human) so you can get Able Learner to keep up your ranks in your favorite Beguiler class skills. You'll need to use a flaw (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/buildingCharacters/characterFlaws.htm) since you'll need Able Learner, Practiced Spellcaster, and any metamagic feat by 5th level.

I'd go with a specialist Conjurer for the Abrupt Jaunt variant from PH2, and ban Evocation and Enchantment. Maybe go with the Fighter Feat variant for Wizard (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/classes/variantCharacterClasses.htm#wizard) (UA) to get something like Improved Initiative instead of Scribe Scroll, or use the Conjurer variant from UA for Enhanced Summoning to get Augment Summoning without having to take the prerequisite Spell Focus. Maybe even use the Focused Specialist variant (CM) to get more spells/day but you'd have to ban another school, I'd go with Necromancy or Illusion.

After Ultimate Magus 10 you can pick up the 5th Wizard level for another bonus feat, spontaneous divination, or a domain power (CC), and I'd finish it with either Divine Oracle 4 (Evasion and Uncanny Dodge) or Incantatrix 4 (apply the extra prohibited school to Beguiler, pick Necromancy or Evocation).

C: Low levels I'd spam crowd controls and wait until you can stack some metamagic before going full mailman. Reserve feats (CM) can give you some damage output without burning through all your spell slots. If you have Heighten Spell on a spontaneous class you can always count your highest level slot for your reserve feats, as long as you know a spell of the appropriate type. Versatile Spellcaster can further boost that. Dragonborn of Bahamut with the heart aspect gets a breath weapon for sustainable damage output, and you can pick up Entangling Exhalation which is actually a damage upgrade in the low levels, plus there's spells like Blinding Breath. I'd go with a Dragonborn Kobold and get the Greater Draconic Rite of Passage (http://archive.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/we/20060420a) (pick Benign Transposition or Nerveskitter for your Rite of Passage spell-like ability). Consider using the Ancestral Relic Runestaff trick as well.

I mentioned in the option that i would be taking collegiate.

Does the PrC counts for Illumian sigils? Because i can see some synergy tere. Also, at lvl 15 i could have maximum caster level equal to my HD, the Illumian sigils and practiced spellcaster seem to state that.
I'm really torn apart between the Beguiler for int synergy, or sorcerer.
For the last levels, wouldn't Archmage be an interesting choice?

Edit: Forgot about the spell power class feature of the UM

The issue with mailman is that is very feat taxing. So i don't know if i could put one or two feats in the build without flaws.

Thanks for the help.
