I’m trying to find a good book on the introduction and spread of firearms in Japan, but I’m having a hard time finding a reliable source in English.

There’s a chapter on firearms in Thomas Conlan’s Weapons and Fighting Techniques of the Samurai Warrior, but this is more of a coffee-table book, and it’s so badly edited I’m wary of using it too closely. Noel Perrin’s Giving Up the Gun is apparently slanted and unreliable, and past this I’m not sure where to turn.

Any suggestions?

Not specifically all about firearms, but Tanegashima - The Arrival of Europe in Japan covers the subject. It has a translation of Teppoki which is a contemporary document about the arrival of and creation of muskets in Japan plus other primary sources from Japanese and Portugese accounts about early contact.
