Rune mage

Rune mages at their final level can carve a rune into their body that they can use to cast a specific spell up to twice per day.
Can they place Contingency this way? If so, would they be able to select the trigger and the triggered spell anew each time, or would it be a specific spell to a specific contingency that is permanently tuned?

Just to be clear, are you talking about the Runecaster from Forgotten Realms, or something more homebrew?

Assuming you're talking about the Runesmith PrC from Races of Stone, you'd be able to use Contingency twice per day keying it to different spells. Note that you still need to cast the spell to be put into the contingency as you'd normally do.

EDIT: Remember that "You can use only one contingency spell at a time; if a second is cast, the first one (if still active) is dispelled.", so remember to use your second daily contingency only after the first one has been triggered.
