I wanted to make a class, the Hunter, that combines features of the ranger (which is more "nature" than I want, as seen with the animal companion and divine spells) and the scout (which is too rogue like, as seen with trapfinding and 8+ skill points). They are very similar classes otherwise.
I was thinking of using the ranger as the chassis.
-animal companion
-spells
-wild empathy
-favored enemy
+skirmish
+flawless stride
+freedom of movement
+fast movement
+trackless step
The major change would be giving up favored enemy for skirmish. Far as I can tell the abilities I'm removing and adding are roughly equal. Can anyone spot a clear shift in power if I make these changes?
