View Full Version : Pardon Me, Can You Spare A Dwarf?

Last minute request—I’m running a session tonight and realized I might need a group of dwarfs, ideally 7-8 of them.

So, if anyone has any dwarf builds lying around, that would save me a hella lot of time. My preference is for lower-level builds, ideally first through third level, but I can use pretty much anything. Builds from 3.5 and Pathfinder equally welcome.

Well there's always the Yu-Gi-Oh! dwarf player, a Conjurer 4/Fighter 1/Runesmith 1 casting all of his spells from runes drawn on cards kept in a pocket of his shield, all in full plate. Take the Rapid Summoning ACF from UA and the Armored Savant ACF from Dragon Magazine #355 to use summon monsters spells as a standard action and to ignore the weight of your full plate when calculating encumbrance, so you can dump Str and still be able to move.

What about a tattooed (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?516162-Augmented-psionic-tattoos) giant dwarf Fighter? That could also make things interesting. Give him a trip weapon if you like crowd control.

An Ironsoul Forgemaster is always nice to have, even if they're pretty dependent on caster support for crafting.

Thanks for the suggestions. Just to clarify, I’m looking for builds with statblocks ready to drop into my session tonight—I don’t have time to build them myself.

Character sheets on Myth-Weavers would be great, or even references to printed dwarves in modules or other supplements. I’m low on time, so finished builds would be really appreciated.

You need to give a level range... otherwise you're likely to get a lot of level 20 builds.

Thanks for these. Most of them are a little high, but the first one I can definitely use.

Yes the yellow card is 3.5 and the white card is 3.0 . Both should work fine .

Okay, thanks, I’ll see if I can use those.

Still open to other builds as well.

We ran an all dwarf game once, can't replicate all stats from my memory though:

Dwarf Druid:
Feats: Heavy Armor Prof, Power Attack
Str and Wis>Con>Int>Dex>Cha (rolled stats)
Had real fun with this build myself. Equipment: "Bigstick", a big wooden club, planned on getting a stone armor or dragonskin armor.

Dwarf Cavalier:
Feats: Power Attack, Furious Focus
Str>Con>Cha=Wis>Int=Dex
Had a Wolf "mount". Big Axe.

Dwarf Cleric
Feats: Selective Channel, Heavy Armor Prof
Wis>Cha=Str>Con>Dex=Int
Flail + Medium Armor and Shield. Or Crossbow, had pretty good stats all around thanks to rolling.

Dwarf Barbarian
Feats: Power Attack, Improved Bullrush
Str>Con>Dex=Wis>Int>Cha
Had a Lucerne Hammer and was the Rusher of the party.

Dwarf Wizard (wore a mithral chainshirt)
Feats: ???,??? (was an NPC)

We played without Traits but the group worked quite well (the last one was an NPC).

Hope these help you.

Okay, I appreciate the build outlines.

Just had to cancel tonight’s game, so now I have plenty of time for building dwarves. :smallmad:

Those are from the D&D miniatures line of products. The white card is from the Dragoneye set and the yellow one is from the Abberations set. Both miniature cards are 3.5.

Perhaps for the best. It always gets hairy trying to do such things on short notice.

Funny you mention this. In my Ironsoul Forgemaster guide (shameless plug! (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?344798-Soul-and-Steel-A-Guide-to-the-Ironsoul-Forgemaster-%28WIP-PEACH%29)) I've included, with help from several posters, a bunch of build stubs (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=17377971&postcount=5) for IF dwarves. You could easily take one of them, trim it down to low levels, and run with it. Bonus, if you decide to keep one around as an NPC, you can use the same build stub to advance him.
