I googled for it but couldn't find anything on this matter.

Anyone have any information on the next UA date and/or release?

I prefer british to american because americans are always doing everything backwards from Mother England! Grow up already! It's 2017 for christs sake! (jk)

(Also because in Finland it's presented in the same order)

Gotcha! Thanks. That bit sort of eluded me in the last article.

In many places it's presented in that order, which in a way makes sense, as it shows things in the shortest length first, then the longest.

Yet they still put hours in front of minutes. :smalltongue:

It is weird, yeah...

Americans go Month/Day/Year because the highest first number is lower than the highest second number which is vastly lower than the current third number.

12/31/2017, for example.

Where much of the rest of the world goes with the shortest time increment. 31/12/2017.

I imagine it has a great deal to do with the Metric System and nesting smaller relative values into larger relative values, as a cultural perception of ordering. It just makes more sense to do it that way once you accept that that's how measurements work.

I think it's because of how it's spoken. Americans say March 3rd, 2017, not the third of March, 2017, so we write it that way as well.

Well, sure. But we got our language, and the way we say those things, from England and Germany and France and other European Nations. They changed from one version to the other.

And I think it has to do with the standardization of the metric system and its impact on linguistics and conceptualization.

Maybe if they started putting the name of the month below the days on a calendar we might say it the other way, hehehe.

Remember, forthwith, November the 5th
The gunpowder treason and plot
I see no reason the gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot.

As silly as you're being, at least you're not hitting on torch. I'll give the English one thing, torch does make more sense than flashlight. It doesn't flash, it acts more like a torch.

When you turn it on, there is an instant flash of light.

And hopefully doesnt set itself on fire (as a torch would be).
