I'm designing a character for a future campaign. I want to make a Knight character who isn't caught up in Good or Evil but just keeps the Oaths he made when he became a knight.

Trouble is I'm not sure what tenets to make for it. So I'm here to see what you guys have to say/ask?

As in you're making a character or making a homebrew paladin oath?

Either way, its mostly flavor. Oath of the Crown might be a good fit, you can find it in the Sword Coast Adventurer Guide.

Edit: Unearthed Arcana also has the Cavalier Fighter path (http://media.wizards.com/2015/downloads/dnd/04_UA_Classics_Revisited.pdf), that's pretty knightly if you don't want to worry about spells and other paladin stuff.

Well I wasn't thinking a Paladin more like flavor for tenets he's taken as a knight.

I'm sorry if I'm being confusing.

Oh so you're looking for what kinds of oaths he might have taken, like this (http://www.chivalrynow.net/articles/trusts.htm)or this (http://www.lordsandladies.org/knights-code-of-chivalry.htm)?

Magic? Paladin of the Crown with reworked vows.

Non-magic? Purple Dragon Knight or Knight (UA).

The 3.5 knight class has some stuff you can work into a vow, like always fight fair and always be chivalrous.

The SCAG have a huge list for paladin. You could hand-pick some of them and put them in a nice sentance like the paladin's Oaths in the PHB.

Use the old code:

"A knight is sworn to valour,

His heart knows only virtue,

His blade defends the helpless,

His might upholds the weak,

His word speaks only truth,

His wrath undoes the wicked."
