I can't figure out how to put a url into my post without including the whole url in text format, and that's kinda annoying. Is there any way to attach a link to text not associated with the url of that link?

You mean like this? (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/forum.php) Yes. When youre typing your post theres a little button that looks like a globe and a link of chain. Click that button and a little window will pop up asking for a URL. Put in the URL, and anything you had highlighted when you clicked the button will become part of the link.
