Can you intentionally fail a spell resistance roll in the same way you can intentionally fail a saving throw? For example say your fighter buddy is in the middle of a bunch of goblins, you want to fireball them but not hurt your fighter, said fighter has spell resistance. Can you intentionally fail the roll to affect him but still hit the goblins? What if the goblins also have spell resistance? Can you selectively choose to fail some rolls but not the others?

there isn't an existing mechanic in place to automatically fail.

you can voluntarily cast the spell at a lower level than your current (as long as it's high enough to cast the spell) to worsen the odds of penetrating your ally's SR, but for a fireball it will lower damage. for other effects which aren't dependent on CL, it may not matter as much.

No, but there's an item for that. Spellguard Rings or something like that, from CArc or CMage iirc.
