T-Cell's assignments appear on a free email server called Swiftmail, in a draft message containing the mission parameters.

From: [email protected]
To: [empty]
Subject: SEVENTH INNING STRETCH

You are to investigate the murders of MALCOLM BRIDGES (44), DINAH BRIDGES (43), MICHAEL BRIDGES (18), CLARK BRIDGES (16), DEAN BRIDGES (14), MARY BRIDGES (13), ALICE BRIDGES (12), CLAIRE BRIDGES (10) in Vineland, New Jersey on 11NOV16.

Murderer is MICHAEL DENG (26) (DECEASED). Deng was a graduate student of mathematics at Columbia University in New York. Deng inscribed a series of numbers at the scene which are known to possess dangerous, paranormal properties.

Mission Instructions:
- Call your contact for travel arrangements and briefing
- Determine if DENG distributed the number in any manner besides the crime scene (phone, fax, email).
- Locate DENG's notes and work on the number and destroy it.
- If possible, destroy the number inscription at the scene and all photographic evidence of it in the hands of the authorities.
- Locate any exposed to the number with mathematical experience and report them to A-Cell.
- Link DENG romantically to DINAH BRIDGES. Fake whatever documents necessary to make an affair between the two seem likely.
- Once protocols are complete, contact A-Cell for further instructions

Possible Friendly Contacts :
-Trooper Thomas Blanet, New Jersey State Patrol
-Green Box: A storage room in the basement of the Cherry hill, NJ train station. Lock combination 14-2-28

On a scale of 1 to 10, how familiar are you with theoretical mathematics?
Feel free to answer truthfully or otherwise - you can post your answer in the clear or PM me!

Dr. Huges majored in medicine and biology in college, and while he has a firm grasp of day-to-day mathematics, what he learned of theoretical math is rusty at best. He'd rate himself a 3.

Suddenly realised that roleplaying might be in order

"An entire family..., what sort of illness must a man be taken by to do something like this?"
Dr. Huges re-reads the briefing. "Numbers..?", he mumbles to himself, "How could numbers drive a man to this?"
Nevertheless, the task is clear. This sequence may never see the light of day again. He is conflicted about faking the affair between murderer and victim, but he knows it can no longer harm the dead.
Dr. Huges makes his travel arrangements in stoic silence.

TBone checks into the DG Swiftmail. Murder. Eight murders. He scans the mission parameters and makes his own coded notes of the same in a small notebook. TBone phones his contact for travel arrangements and briefing. Theoretical Mathematics? I'm no stranger to abstract concepts, but honestly, probably a 2-3 on Pure Math.

On Theoretical Physics, Part IV: Taliaferro picked up a few nuggets from incarcerated day-traders and accountants. Call it an eight. He remembers being told "the whole universe is math." Eight murders, one name. Bridges to cross. The media would call it a serial murder but that's just code for someone's operation. Thinking about it made the hair on Austin's hands stand up.

If you are flying, you get sent a plane ticket to Philadelphia Int'l Airport. From DC you get a train to the 30th Street Station, closer to downtown. Whoever posts next, please describe the rendezvous for the trio.

TBone left the train and headed for Bridgewater's Pub. Signs pointed; more like, screamed its location. CRAFT BEER. He was in. Dressed like a civy; Chimola denim, plaid shirt, Oliberte boots, black beanie and a knockoff Rolex Submariner. TBone took a corner booth near the back and ordered a Weihenstephaner Hefeweizen. German beer was his favorite. The DG vet waited for the Doc and the Ex-con to arrive. Excuse me, waiter. I'd like an order of wings. Korean BBQ

Tourniquet approaches the rendezvous point, trying to puzzle out who he's supposed to talk to.
As he spots a lone inconspicuous stranger sitting in a far corner, he silently joins him in his booth.
Tourniquet is a somewhat rotund man with a walrus mustache and a small pair of round glasses. He's dressed casually: Jeans, simple grey shirt and a brown tweed jacket. Sitting across from the stranger in the booth, he silently takes a look at the menu, and orders a Schwarzbier. He inspects the man in front of him for any sign of recognition.

TBone sat quietly for a moment and without emotion as the husky gent joined him. Once the man ordered a beer, TBone introduced himself. Tourniquet. Afternoon. Call me TBone. One more and we're ready. The wings arrive just in time. Hunger can be a menace.

Tourniquet nods deferentially to the senior agent.
He then checks his pocket watch, before grabbing a wing.
"He ought to be here soon." he says as he take a bite. "What do you plan to do when Taliaferro arrives? Head straight to the scene?"

"Taliaferro" stepped into Bridgewater's Pub digging for his wallet. The smell of grilled philly subs triggered his hunger after a less than pleasant flight from Cornfield U.S.A. Philadelphia. The only place you could once get sentenced to a prison term at a football stadium. Explains Eagles fans. In black jeans, black hoodie, black 'Eagles' cap, black steel-toed boots, 5'11", 170 lbs., carrying a black backpack Austin blended in enough to pass for anything.

The DG numbers asset scanned around the pub for anything usual and caught sight of two men fitting his semi-briefing descriptions. A waitress greeted him and Austin says, "Apple juice, please. And a veggie sub." He handed her a rumpled twenty and nodded before turning to walk towards his new "cohorts". Scanning the room still, Austin considered the issue: two handfuls of corpses. He tried not to over-analyze it on the plane but it found him in his dreams as he slept. He'd seen a man become an inhuman animal once, so something like this brought back that horrific memory. Something people try real hard to not talk about because it leaves a stench in your mouth.

Giving Tbone and Tourniquet a short smile, he met them, "How are you? We have time to eat?" He slid off his pack and sat while looking over the pub still.

TBone quickly assessed their final cohort and then answered his question. Call me TBone. We got a l'il bit of time. ... I'll need to make a short stop when we leave here; hit the Box. Otherwise, where do you fellas wanna go first?

So, that's our rendezvous.

Tourniquet nods to Taliaferro and motions for him to take a seat.
"I suggest that we first visit the scene in question, and deal with the assignments there.", he says in answer to Tbone's question. "From there, we can get a better overview of the situation and deal with other problems that may arise"

Not sure what's going on with my gear. Can't do much without it.

Ok. Let's head to the scene. Did either of you requisition a vehicle? If not, lets cab it.

In your rental you drive the hour or so it takes to get to Vineland. The group has cleared your team as specialists in violent crimes, and you all have a cover name that should withstand casual scrutiny.

Monitoring the law enforcement response on Twitter, you realize there are two crime scenes: the house where the Bridges lived, and the Highway 6 underpass where the last homicide and graffiti is.

BarbieTheRPG
2017-03-26, 08:11 PM
Austin looks over Tweets, "The underpass is fresh. I think we should check it out. Thoughts?" He bit into his sub and munched while looking at tweets.

"I agree, the underpass is more likely to hold undisturbed clues"
Tourniquet lets out a big sigh, not wanting to admit his ignorance on social media matters.
"It is also more public, better to erase the evidence there first."

The underpass is already a chaotic mess: in addition to vehicles from several law enforcement agencies, there are three news vans. It occurs to anyone who that with seven deaths in town, and two on a state highway, this case is a jurisdictional nightmare.

Once you exit your vehicle, several reporters might be close enough to intercept you before you pass under the crime scene tape a Vineland officer is setting up.

TBone with the cover name of Clarence James exits the rental and walks with purpose to and under the police tape.
He'll do his best to help his cohorts do the same and avoid the cameras and reporters.

Tourniquet will follow TBone's lead, trying to look like he belongs there, acting like he would back at his practice.
Using the false name "Theodore Jennings".

[roll0] stat = 60

Using this insight, Tourniquet mentions to his companions: "With so many deaths that are connected yet separate location-wise, this is a complex bureaucratic situation. I think there's a good chance these folk wouldn't bat an eye at another set of officials looking in on the case."

Taliaferro frowned and looked around, "In my expert opinion, this is beyond random. Someone executed a systematic, cultic massacre based on esoteric numerology ..... but I'm still jet-lagged some so maybe I'm off."

As you are lifting up the police tape, one of the reporters calls you by your cover name: "Doctor Wells, can you give us an idea of the mindset behind this tragedy?" Several others turn your way at her raised voice.

The police on site tell you that all the bodies have been sent to the morgue downtown. But you'd be welcome to examine them.

There are two chalk outlines beneath the overpass. Tourniquet can tell that one of them had a self-inflicted head wound. The graffiti is simply a string of numbers spray-painted on the street:

9 9 2 0 . 2 2 9 9 8 9 2 1 2 . 3 3 3
