Running a game in the near future. Decided I'm going to give one of my players who I know will play an archer the "quiver of pandora" which is a quiver of endless arrows with the added bonus/curse of having a unique feature.

Every time it's used, the player must roll a percentile. Under 50 allows the attack to proceed as normal while over 50 imbues the arrow with a random spell effect (possibly might go with 30/70 or even 25/75) determined by an additional percentile.

Rather than recycling the Rod of Wonder random spell list (which only has around 20 if I remember correctly), is there a good list of 100 weapon specific spell effects anywhere? Even random absurd crap would be great; stuff that may or may not assist in any given situation. Obviously any spell effect would focus on the arrow itself or whatever it hits in its flight path.

This is going to be a somewhat campy and lighthearted game so weird is always fun :)

One of those effects has to be an arrow of slay self.

here (http://www.angelfire.com/rpg2/vortexshadow/magic/unstablemagic.html) is a list of lighthearted effects that mostly won't impose mechanical penalties on your player. you can skip over the ones that do at your judgement

if you're set on inflicting this on him, I strongly advise you preroll large chains of numbers in advance so you don't slow down play. archers tend to make a lot of attacks and you don't want to be pausing every time he rolls dice.

this is not from any list that I know of but here are some cool ideas

1. the arrow becomes made out of a different material, like cold iron, silver, stone, wood, any random material
2. if the target is hit they glow a certain color
3. the arrow heals the target

An arrow of polymorphing... the arrow transforms into a cat in mid flight. A quite angry one.
