maybe this would have better gone to the Homebrew section, but since this is a D&D forum I decided to put it here. I hope that's where it belongs.
Ok, I'll try to make a long story short:
As a passionate P&P player and a big fan of the Fallout franchise I was always wondering, why there is no good pen and paper game for this brilliant setting. All adaptations I had a look at just weren't what I would have wanted. Since the setting already exists I was mainly looking at the game system. A 1 to 1 translation of the computer game is math-heavy and so full of %age calculations, you basically need a calculator or better a laptop to handle combat. A fluid play just isn't really possible like that. Another adaptation uses the D20 system, which is a great system, but totally lacks the feel of Fallout's S.P.E.C.I.A.L. system, which is way more embedded into the setting as with most other RPGs.
In short, I decided to write my own, and after about 8 months of work I think I have cooked up something playable, which I want to share with other interested people.
It is not completely finished, I am still looking at a lot of work to fill the Bestiary, but everything else is fine.
To come to a close some words about what to expect:
I was looking for a compromise between playability and technical and emotional affinity to the original and almost instantly came up with Cyberpunk. The Cyberpunk 2020 system is more or less simple and easy to grasp and had the perfect basis to be adapted to the Fallout setting. Therefore I created a ruleset to adapt the Cyberpunk 2020 core rules to the Fallout world. All in all I hope the modfications and extensions are practical and not too widespread.
But, enough talk! There is a link to the PDF below. Have a look at it if you like, leave it if you don't! :)
Feedback would be highly appreciated, though! :D
Also I obviously have to encourage you to legally obtain the Cyberpunk 2020 Core Rules if you want to play my game, but there are "preview PDFs" to be found in the web if you need to know what to expect beforehand!
But please, if you are about to play it and don't own the Cyberpunk 2020 Rulebook, just spend the 15 Dollars for the legal PDF. It's worth it! ;-)
