So for fluff reasons, I've decided have a PF wizard I'm playing focus on Dispel Magic/Counterspelling. It's not exactly optimal, but I'm looking to pick up Dispel Focus and Greater Dispel Focus, as well as Perferred Spell, then eventually nab Spell Perfection.

The problem I'm having so far is finding Pathfinder Metamagics that complement Dispel Magic, especially considering the free Metamagic from Perfection. Heightened is required for Preferred Spell, but worthless on Dispel. Quicken is nice for dispelling, but worthless for counterspelling. Echoing Spell is... interesting, but perhaps a but much.

Anyone have any Metamagic suggestions that I should consider?

The best metamagic would probably be disruptive spell-if you dispel a buff or effect on the caster, it will make casting other buffs or spells much harder.

I suppose you can also get reach spell to dispel from incredibly long distances, but it already has a medium range and is rarely an issue.

You should consider Arcanist (or exploiter wizard) with the Counterspell exploit, as unlike dispel magic it lets you counter spells while still retaining your standard action.

If you can get an ability that damages creatures when things are dispelled, Dazing Spell is always a great choice. You might want to look into Destructive Dispel as well.

I was going to suggest Chain Spell, but my goodness did they gut that feat for Pathfinder.

WDIT: Whoops, didn't realize I was looking at 3rd party. The one I was looking at was from Rogue Genius Games. There is another one from Rite Publishing which is actually decent. If 3rd party is allowed, I would suggest it.

There's lots you can do. Echoing, Quicken, and Disruptive were mentioned. Lingering Spell on an area dispel can create an effective denial zone or block a chokepoint. Widen Spell can let you strip buffs from large groups.

The most useful one overall is probably Selective Spell.

I assume you're an Abjuration specialist with the Counterspell school?
