Has anyone ever played DnD or other RPGs on Second Life or similar 3d environments?

I've done Shadowrun, third and fourth ed. We used in-game dice and maps, not using our avatars as our characters, but figures on boards. Generally, we we all sitting around a table when we played <_<;;

Like most of Second Life, that seems pointless, in a postmodernist sort of way. Kudos.

(Not bashing SL. I never said my hobbies weren't also pointless.)

This all sounds very existential :P

I did some freeform Roleplaying on Wc3 for a time.

With limited success and enjoyment.
Still, was a good learning experience.

Why play DnD on Second Life? You should be LARPing!

(Warcraft 3 RP maps were a good excuse for building up fake cities, then sending rediculous armies against other armies to see who got utterly destroyed first.)

My Reaction exactly.

Why play a table top game INSIDE another game? Its like playing DND and having your characters play DND too. Who could have their characters playing DND, and so on and so forth, untill you hit the 10th generation. In which you just get tired and throw a book at somebody.
