I have to commend Rich once again for his masterful attention to detail. The sky is just a hair darker in almost every strip. Don't believe me? See for yourself!

http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0471.html Here, the sky is a nice shade of gray-blue. Dull, yet pretty.

http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0474.html A couple strips later, it's gotten a bit darker. The sun's probably going to be disappearing pretty soon, if it hasn't already. (For contrast, look at panel 3 of 473 and 474)

http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0476.html The sun is down. About twelve minutes have passed, and the sky is officially deep blue. It's dusk.

http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0477.html If you squint, it's about 1/200th darker. Maybe I'm seeing things.

http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0478.html Maybe it's the same, but it seems a hair darker to me.

What does this mean? Well, everyone knows that stuff gets much more dramatic when it's dark! Just look at strip 200! Strip 239! Strip 242! Strip 243! Strip 337! Strip 393! Strip 400! This battle's just getting started!

I would guess that it has to do with the fact that the day is ending.

(You don't have to say "Dun dun DUNNNNN!" - It's implied.)

By "it's getting dark" I figured it was implied that I meant "it's getting dark because the day is ending".

Finally, the day is almost over. How many strips have covered this day?

Finally, the day is almost over. How many strips have covered this day?

http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0418.html This was sunrise of today, and now it's dusk exactly 60 strips later. http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0478.html

Man, sometimes entire days happen in 5 strips and sometimes one day is stretched out over 60 and counting.
