Hello everyone,
we have a little Problem with the wording on an Item.
The text says:
As long as it is on the same plane of existence, the bearer can hear through this weapon as if they were present.

And we are not sure if the meaning is:
the bearer/owner can hear everything on the plane he is on or if the bearer/owner can hear trough the item as long as he is on the same plane?

The latter interpretation is correct.

Sounds a bit useless though. Unless its a very tiny weapon. People tend to notice if you leave your Glaive in the king's chamber. The moment some curious guard touches it, well, guess who the new bearer is.
Also, how do they define "bearer"? Because that, and owner, are different nouns. To be a weapon bearer, you technically need to be wearing or wielding it, by definition. And if that was the case, this makes the weapon magic even more useless.

Unless youre deaf. In which case, loophole.

5e has a little thing called "attunement" for magic items. It makes pretty much obvious who the bearer is, and that's whoever is attuned.
