are there any issues with elves eating insects like grubs? I am considering using the hex spell but as it is once per day (mage initiate) I need to get some more mileage out of it. a bag of live grubs as a snack would be an excellent way of doing it. kill the enemy hex a grub, obviously targeting it's charisma ability, then when the next fight starts have a cheeky power snack to refresh hex.

obviously this doesn't get over the 1 hour limit but considering most fights last about a minute, could stretch it over a few fights.

You should be able to just concentrate on hex without having it on a target.

Elves aren't vegetarians by default, you know. They could very well eat insects regularly, depending on the setting.

You can keep concentrationg on hex without transfering it immediatly to another creature. It says "on a subsequent turn of yours" not "immediatly after". Plus turns work only in combat, so if you end a combat hex isn't going away and you can still concentrate on it until you find yourself in a turn where you can use it. You don't even have to use it immediatly since it says "a" and not "the" subsequent turn.

One day I've got to have my PCs be invited to a party by an elven court, and then it turns out they're all going to hunt a Dire Bear with the elf king turning into a giant boar for the fight.
