I am sorry to say that this Let's Play is no more.
My hard drive got corrupted today and I could not save my data. All save data is now lost. Because I hadn't activated cloud saving in the game (so used to it being automatic on other games).

So... I decided to go Sweden again. Because.
And back to my original territory; the first family I ever made king.

The Gälta dynasty. Starts childless in the small county of Dal, independent, 1066. Character is Count Faste Of Dal.
This is my setup for the game:

Goal: Survive and prosper. I don't have any longterm goals because my goal is to roleplay each ruler, not set a "by 1300 I should be emperor" goal.

Being a count in Dungville is kinda boring. So... Quick summary:

Marriage was a success. Several kids. Stats ranging from good to great.
Got sick, got "healthy", became best friends with the king...
Then the king died and I became best friends with his son, who is married to my oldest daughter. So.

So... After my loyal Chancellor had given me a claim on the entire Kingdom of Sweden (I just wanted the Duchy of Västergötland) I replaced him with Glitterhoof, my loyal mare.
Unfortunately my so called insanity got the best of me and I replaced her on a whim with my oldest son. At least my son seems reasonably competent.

Speaking of which, I should really find a wife fir him, he just turned 16.

Camp fever is over us. I ordered the gate shut but too late. The Saints seems to help us in our need, because despite all of us being sick nobody has died.
Unfortunately this curse has lasted a year now and is still going on outside our walls.

I caught my second son, who I just found a suitable wife for before the illness started sneaking out of the keep to meet a man!
I saw them in bed together. I was monumentally distraught but then I realized that knowing my son he will still sire plenty of heirs. He's as lustful as his mother.
I choose to say nothing about his sinful misstep because being locked inside for a year is driving us all to do crazy things.

The Camp Fever finally disappeared in early spring. Almost a year and a half after it surrounded our lands.
The good news is that nobody died.
I also found a good match for my second daughter. She is now married to the King of Denmark.


My wife Gudrun, the Spymaster, caught my second oldest son Stenkil, HER son, plotting to kill her. For no apparent reason.
I have tried to find out his reasons and I cannot find anything that makes sense. At least he promised to stop his plotting.

I seem to have spoken too quickly.
Two months after the disease left the rest of us my beloved son still had it. He eventually perished to everyone's great sorrow.
God gives as well as takes away though. My first grandson was born!

It has been an eventful time.


The King is dead, Long Live The King.
My great friend has died at the age of 41. As I went on a drinking binge to celebrate our friendship, I met the new King and we found ourselves fast friends too!

It started well enough. The King agreed with me that I deserved something for my services to the kingdom, so he gifted me the County of Uppland. And my wife was pregnant again! A second daughter, a genius girl!

With all the pieces in place, it was time to up the ante.

I tried to be reasonable; I offered to let him live and even be a member of my court, if he handed me the crown.
He instead, as my prisoner, spat in my face and declared war.

Now, before assembling a council, I had the golden opportunity to set things up for our family.

Now... with all Duchies in the country except one controlled by my family, and with elective succession, the future for Gälta is as bright as it can be.
However... to not play favorites I appointed nothing but foreign experts in my council; men that had no one to turn to but me. No titles to distract them.

A short update...



There was one thing left to do, I thought, and that was to secure more wealth and strength to the Kingdom. The easiest way was to subdue Norway, making them pay tribute to Sweden.
After all was said and done, I started thinking about what that exactly meant. I realized I had to repent for all my sins, so I decided to devote the rest of my life to the Lord.

Thankfully there was hope... but it was a longshot. I called my physician and started thinking about settling my affairs.

...After negotiating the alliances to be able to bring the heathens into the light of the Lord I unfortunately had to put it all on hold.
A traitorous Count was threatening to usurp my son's Duchy. I could not legally stop him, but I still had my skills and friends.
Unfortunately my oldest grandson died of sickness during all this.

The punishments from God comes one after another. When the Camp Fever finally left our lands, my son died from it after everyone else became healthy again.
After his death I nominated my daughter as heir. I intend to fight for her, because she is clearly the most qualified person in the kingdom.

One of my kindsmen ursurped the title Duke of Brittany, and I quickly proclaimed myself King of Brittany. More importantly I made my daughter the sole heir of the Kingdom.

Turning old, I realized I had to, unfortunately, give up the idea of my daughter as heir.
I had to take the hard decision and nominate my nephew instead. A good man. Average in every respect, but a good man. The two kingdoms will stay together, for now. At least my Daughter's children with be rulers of the Duchy of Brittany.

I also had to get to grips with Visby. The Grand Major has always been a pain in my side, and now he kept nominating the only duke not of the family.
I ripped his title out from under him and gave the republic to my youngest grandson. As a thanks, he put his vote behind my nephew as well. There was no way any other candidate would come close now.

Tried to start a holy war again to the east, but too late. All heathens convert as soon as they start loosing.
Did manage to put my family, hopefully, on the throne of Poland. Will keep an eye on that.
Most definitely managed to put my family on the throne of Denmark. A much firmer grip than Poland.
Cemented my claim to Brittany. Now have my family control the Duchy AND another county. Should cut down on the number of usurp-attempts.

I turned to the north instead of to the east, to herd the heathens in Lappland into the fold. This was obviously what God wanted me to do, because suddenly everything worked out.

I could get nowhere with diplomacy with the King of England. I suspect part of it was that I had murdered his wife's twin brother...
However, speaking of twins... When he died, his two twin sons split the two kingdoms between them; the new King of Denmark could not be reasoned with, but the King of England took a liking to me, for some reason. He even agreed to form a proper alliance, without marriage bonds to tie it together!

With a strong ally I could turn my attention towards Norway. Various nobles had tried to produce claims on Västergötland since my Grandfather was a child and it was time put a stop on that. A claim had... fallen into my hands... so to speak...

Now... Something strange was happening. There seemed to be a conspiracy of sorts... All of a sudden many nobles in the land openly came forward as heathens, and they were too powerful to stop.
Instead I had to take the path of lesser resistance... and instead of converting or jailing them converting their children back to the path of the Lord.

I assembled my armies to squelch a rebellion by the former prince of England I had deposed from the throne of Denmark only to run headfirst into his brother's, the King of England's armies.
I had to make a hasty retreat, but at that very second the armies caught up and I thought I was going to lose my whole host of men... The tables turned.
As far as I understand it the King of England had only promised to help his brother with one specific war, and as soon as that war was over he promptly turned around and stabbed his brother in the back... with the same army that had just helped chasing my men down!

Once again my family was back on the throne of Denmark!
Unfortunately it seems Denmark was a hornet's nest; everyone in the Kingdom had a claim for the Kingdom and I spent the rest of my reign helping putting fires out.

After burying my father and having to give up a number of Duchies to my sons in order to stabilize the Realm, I made the decision of destroying all Kingdoms except Svea Rike. Unlike my father I was not in a position where I could juggle three Kingdoms and be sure to stay on top. Not yet, anyway.

The Chronicles of Azur Gälta, part II - Nothing new, really

The situation in Denmark was yet again under control, which gave me the opportunity to claim more lands in Norway.
Also, my wife died. There was no suitable women available, so I settled for good breeding stock. Hopefully, at least, I will have some more children before the end of my days.

There will be an update, but maybe not until Sunday. I only play for like 35-50 minutes a day, so it's hardly any new events happening before I can marathon another 12-16 hours this weekend.

He seems to stay with us at the moment. Norway is falling apart, and now it's a free-for-all.
At the same time my kindsman, the young King of Denmark, has inherited the Duchy of Uppland. The problem is that my own sons are... not as fit to be kings as I would want them to be. My oldest is Possessed by a demon, and my middle son is just not very skillful. My yongest... Who knows if Lage will survive to adulthood or not.
I have actually nominated the King of Denmark as my successor as King of Sweden. At least it will end up in the family, and in competent hands.

I am sorry to say that this Let's Play is no more.
My hard drive got corrupted today and I could not save my data. All save data is now lost. Because I hadn't activated cloud saving in the game (so used to it being automatic on other games).
