FAQS

May I use references?

Yes! If you would like, you are welcome to post it in the thread, but it isn't required.

I can't art! Can I write instead?

YES. Post your poetry, writing prompt, short story, comic script, etc. Go nuts!

May I do a replica study of someone else's artwork?

Yes - but you absolutely must link to the original, and make it clear that this is a STUDY and not claim it as your own artwork.

May I use photos?

No, this is not a photography related challenge. Sorry!

May I post incomplete artwork/writing, and then show more 'completed' artwork/writing later?

Yes, please do! Just make it clear which artwork was done in 30 minutes.

Where do I upload my artwork?

Imgur.com is pretty sweet.

May I link my own tumblr/ instagram/ FB page with my artwork?

So long as you don't break the GiantITP rules-- certainly.

Crystal Tomb - 30 Minutes
Kinda got distracted by coloring, so lost the concept. Supposed to be fish that are frozen, ha.

I'm still painting with the default brushes... :smallfrown:

I really only use one set of brushes, and then the ones I just kinda make myself.

You're welcome to have my set though: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B8FlrQ5MuBSMSjUtcXJGTnFUMGM

Thank you!! Owl/cat/griffins should be a thing!

So today's spitpaint is more of a spit sketch. I really might finish it someday.

I, too, enjoy owl-cat griffin with gold highlights.

I can never seem to get my speedpaints done in less than an hour, but I might see what I can churn out.

You know - most of my speed paints I have seen have been one hour studies as well!

If you want to make it an hour study, and just be sure to document your work 30 minutes in -- that could be neat.

Late Hunter post. I was dead set on doing this yesterday but I had to work late. So late one! I really want to finish this one. So I might.

Okay, pens down. I didn't get much detail into the line work, but I did enjoy mucking about with the colour range:

Oh what can ail thee, knight at arms, alone and palely loitering?

I like the dynamic pose, but I wonder if the arm position behind her isn't a little awkward. I'm not terribly familiar with HZD- what is she fighting?

Really lovely idea! Happy to see the first 30 minute other than myself. ♥

She is actually about to shoot a 'watcher' in the eye. And as for the awkward arm-- I had yet to kinda figure out the anatomy yet. Just the 'gist' of it. Will hopefully work on it some more this week.

This is a watcher:

I did a dirty try to enter the challenge, there's not much to see but if you've nothing else to do: it's here (http://sta.sh/01qq95dzvcke) .

I'm damn slow!!! But at least I had the wings... (I should sketch with a bolder pencil, so the unpainted would be readable at least)

Wow! That's a great start! My first spitpaint was really terrible, and yours is a much better start. You are welcome to finish it and post what you've done.

That's kind, thanks, but I'm still considering it to be sh** (well, the kind of "I'm learning"-sh**, so it's a natural step in the process). I dunno if I'll finish it, I may not find time to do it if I make one a day... I'll see.

Anyway, I don't really understand the "swap" fishing term (sorry, I'm not in an english speaking country, and not a fisherman myself :smalltongue: ), anyone care to explain/show image?

Here (https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/a0/30/b1/a030b12ba0f74aade1728ba282100480.jpg) you go.

I like the inking style on the butterfly wings. As you using watercolours for the wash?

Not too happy with this one.

Dude was supposed to be in front of an ocean. And then it turned into brush throw up. Oh well.

Too bad for the ocean, but nice throw up. I find the folds of his hoodie to be very satisfying too.

Hu hu, that's why I'm having hard time picturing the concept...

Yes, it's all watercolor, no ink.

Have you tried working with tablets? They're reasonably cheap these days, and you might find it speeds up the process.

Not too happy with this one.
I think it looks pretty sweet, particularly with the clash of colour blocs. Is that actual canvas, or one of those fancy photoshop brush effects?

raaaahman
2017-05-02, 08:03 AM
Nope, haven't tried tablets yet, although it might happen in a reasonable amount of time. Thing is I try to shut my computer down after work hours, so for a day-to-day challenge I'd rather use a traditional media, plus I wanted to learn watercolor for a long time and have my material bought since a few monthes now.

Nebula Angel :
http://orig09.deviantart.net/55a4/f/2017/122/f/1/002_nebula_angel_by_raaaahman-db7yd7a.png

I realize how unadapted is watercolor to that time restriction, watercolor require times to dry, and mixing a new color on the go takes time too. I may not continue this challenge in fact, and will rather aim for more basic exercises.
