I'm still rather new to D&D, but I was wondering when you get to boost your ability scores? Example- I'm playing a Ranger, and I want to boost my INT stat to help me out with spells down the road. How do I do that?

Thank you.

At 4th level and every 4 levels after that you can add 1 to any ability score, you can also buy/find magic items to boost your ability scores.

Don't Rangers normally use WIS to cast spells?

After re-checking my player's handbook, it would appear that they do. Thank you for bringing that to my attention.

When you can afford it, you want to look into stat-increasing items, like Periapts of Wisdom and Tomes of Understanding. They are much faster than the +1 every four levels.
