I'm trying to make an Enlightened Paladin (starting at level 5, no multiclassing campaign), but it doesn't seem to be worth it without dipping into monk. Is there something I'm missing?

If youŽd dip Monk, youŽd go mad as hell, as well as have conflicting class features where one supersedes the other. With an Iroran Paladin, you can either go for high Dex, Weapon Finesse and the TWF feat chain, or focus on high Str and pick the Dragon Style or Brute Style feat chain.

I don't see why you would need to dip monk with enlightened paladin. The class functions perfectly fine as is. What do you see that you need from monk?

Here's a guide (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1uVa329HrRCkaSJrdTTcWgW-lQtrEw_lquNmlQ1Htyqg/edit) to the Enlightened Paladin

TL;DR, yes, a level 1 dip of Sohei monk is required to make it good.

I think these are actually the same thing; Enlightened Paladin (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/paladin/archetypes/paizo-paladin-archetypes/enlightened-paladin-paladin-archetype/) is just the "non-product identity version" of the Iroran Paladin. (http://archivesofnethys.com/ArchetypeDisplay.aspx?FixedName=Paladin%20Iroran%2 0Paladin) Then there is the Champion of Irori (http://www.pathfindercommunity.net/classes/prestige-classes/champion-of-irori) PrC, which I believe is called "Champion of Enlightenment" in non-product-identity sources.
