The Elemental Warrior

Skills: concentration, craft, diplomacy, intimidate, jump, knowledge (nature), knowledge (the plains), listen, ride, spot, survival, swim.
HD: D10
Alignment: neutral
Proficiencies: Elemental warriors are proficient with all simple and martial weapons as well as light and medium armour,
Skill points: 4 +Int modifier (X4 at 1st)

Elements: you gain 1 element at first and 1 for every 5 levels thereafter; the element you choose decides what type of elemental you may change into from elemental form and corresponds with a certain energy type which will later benefit you.
The following are the elements and which energy type they correspond with:
Water-cold
Fire-fire
Earth-acid
Air-electricity

Elemental form: using elemental form is a full action which provokes attacks of opportunity and allows you to change into an elemental of the same type as your chosen element. You are restricted to certain age and size categories are dependent on your level and special forms may be used at higher levels.

Elemental blade: your weapons become wreathed in a chosen energy (must be one of your element corresponding energies) for a number of rounds equal to half your class level or until dismissed it deals 1d6 starting at 3rd with an additional D6 for every four levels thereafter.

Energy resistance: you gain energy resistance starting at 3rd level to all your elements

Elemental gate: you may enter/exit the plane of air/earth/fire/water through a fire/pond/tornado/rock e.t.c which of these you can access is dependent on which elements you can control. The object you are using to teleport to the plane must have one of the planes aspects (wet, hot, hard, windy, etc), it must be large enough for you to walk through and must be one singular object, fire, puddle, and this does not apply for the plane of air. (E.g. you could not enter the plane of earth through a dungeon wall however you could enter the plane of fire through a fireball) also you may use this ability to avoid damage, as an immediate action you may use elemental gate to jump to another plane through a spell cast on you, if you choose to do this you will take no damage from spell however you must pay 2 of your daily elemental form uses to use this ability as a immediate action. Normally this ability costs 1 of your daily elemental form uses and takes one standard action.

Elemental summoning:
You may summon an elemental to serve you for 1 hour once per day. You may summon any elemental that you could normally change into using elemental form; this ability costs 1 use of your elemental form ability.

True elemental:
At 20th level you gain the elemental type you are no longer affected by spells such as hold person or dominate person you no longer have to eat drink or breath you gain DR 10/ magic, and cold, fire, acid, and electricity heal you by 1 point for every 5 points that would normally deal damage to you (round down).

Powers:

Wind walk
Prerequisites: elemental warrior 4th , wind element
You may walk on air for 1 hour per class level as with the wind walk spell. This ability is usable once per day

Water walk
Prerequisites: water element
You may walk on water for 1 hour per level as with the water walk spell, this ability is usable once per day.

Fire jump
Prerequisites: fire element, elemental warrior 4th
You may jump between fires as if with the shadow jump spell however instead of jumping through shadows you may jump between fires and you may move 160 ft/day in this fashion and you may split this distance up as desired.

water breathing
prerequisites: water element
gain the abilaty to breath under water

This is my first homebrew class as a DM and I am running a very overpowered campaign, just so everybody knows before they nitpick it’s just the draft so far but constructive criticism would be greatly appreciated.

P.S: I havent finished making powers for the class so anyone who has any ideas for good elemental powers (I’m thinking overpowerd elemental specific feats) please post them! It would be a big help.

How do you enter tables?

How do you enter tables?

You have to start with table=head in square brackets. A | between two adjacent cells on the same line. A double carriage return between lines. And
to finish.

So this:
Column 1|Column 2|Column 3

a|b|c

x|y|z
becomes this:

{table=head]Column 1|Column 2|Column 3

a|b|c

x|y|z
Okay, I shall oblige you noob... only joking :smallwink:.

First of all you need to indicate if this is a Base Class or Prestige Class. To judge from the entry is is probably a Base Class. Second, this is missing some serious fluff. If you notice, all base Class and Prestige Class entries have an associated description to give people an idea of what it is they are looking at and what role it is likely to play in a campaign. I could have a guess that this Base Class channels elemental energy to gain kick ass powers, but that's about all I could guess from what is here.

As far as the mechanics go, I rather suspect that this is too specialised and, perhaps, too powerful. However, that largely depends against what current Base Classes you measure it. Elemental Gate, should almost certainly be Elemental Plane Shift, as opening a Gate is a significant undertaking.

Thanks for the input:smallsmile:
I'll work on the fluff and downsizing it's abilities so its not to overpowered and try to expand it's versatility. if i could have some pointers on how to make it more versatile it would be greatly appreciated.

You know there is an Elemental Warrior Prestige Class in the Planar Handbook

Well, not really. The other is a PrC, I see nothing wrong with having a Base Class that shares the name, except for a bit of confusion. Still, it could have a better name.

As for versatility, consider making many of these Class Features 'optional' [i.e. like the Monk] or Bonus Feats that are Elemental Warrior specific.

Good idea! I'll Try exchanging the "powers" for bonus feats and maybe find a way to make optional ability at each level, thanks.

p.s. this may take a while to update, i'm a little busy at the moment, sorry .
