I was wondering: what is the hardest DC listed for any task? The highest I could find was 170, for the Perform check needed to turn a hostile creature fanatic (the SRD says it is 150: the SRD is lying), but is there anything even more difficult to accomplish?

Well, attempting a Truespeak check on a Target for a full day, with every action, due to the law of sequence, will easily top that. After all thats a flat +2 every 6 seconds. :P

However its not a explicitely STATED/PRINTED DC, so probably not what you were looking for.

I wouldn't be surprised if the epic level handbook had a check around there. I am away from my books at the moment though.

You would have to succeed on the check though

The Spellcraft DC for the epic spell "Vengeful Gaze of God" is 419 (Epic Level Handbook, p. 87). I'm looking through it now to see if there are any other DCs higher than that.

That is such a horrid spell. It deals an average of 1067 (at 305 dice, average is likely), which won't even chunk the high CR stuff in ELH. And then you take an average 700. But even as a caster, you'd likely have well above 700 if you can make a 419 DC Spellcraft, but yet it expects most casters to die in casting it. It seems to fail to kill either its target or it's user.
