Hi everybody !

I'm playing 3.5 and my character is a half-elf wizard 3, master specialist 9 (conjuration), who pretty much follows the teachings of our lord treantmonk, so lots of support, battlefield control, this kind of thing.

Recently, we've been allowed by the DM to remake all our stuff, since it's a first game for most of the party and we did a lot of mistakes.
We have 75k available, and I don't really know what to do with it, except for a +6 headband which is a no-brainer.
What can you suggest me ?

Sorcerer's Hand Crossbow A&EG
If used as an optional focus for Rays it increases CL by 2 iirc

Lesser Schema of Rope Trick (no need to spend a slot on a 1/day spell)

Aureon Spellshards instead of Spellbooks

Pearls of Power

The crossbow won't be much use, since i don't use ray, however I like the spellshard very much ! I can't find the lesser schema though, which book is it from ?

Magic of Eberron
And you ought have a couple rays. If only to zap 1 enemy with a debuff

I rather meant that I use them sometimes, but not very often, so this seems a bit expensive for something that I use so little.

Thanks for the suggestions though ! Any others ?

My last wizard around that level spent about half his money on a construct.

A couple of Eternal Wand in a wand-socketed Rod of Wonder can extend your staying power, kind of. Getting an Arcane Spellcaster to make you an Eternal Wand of Green Blockade may fit your theme.

Get much loot? Take prisoners? Want to sneak someone into town? Need a place to hide? Nothing solves so many problems like a Portable Hole.

Oooh yeah. But instead of the portaholey an enveloping pit is better

I dunno if I'd blow 1/2 my money on a +6 Int item. A +4 is only 5% worse and costs 20k less. I'd get a +4 Int Circlet of Rapid Casting from the MIC. That costs 31k and gives you 3/day quickened spells for levels 1-2. Lots of good combo tech to be had there.

Anklets of Translocation are stock for any character. Alternative, Boots of Big Stepping are less useful but come with a +2 CL for teleportation spells. That can be an extra person.

Ring of Spellbattle is 15k and definitely worth it.

Don't forget about your +resistance item and probably a +2 Con item. Dying is frowned upon. +1 Mithril Buckler is also cheap, and you can put a wand chamber in it. You aren't proficient, but it doesn't matter. You can add on a cheap enchantment like Death Ward for another 3k on top of the 2k base cost (+2 equiv Mithril armor) for 1/day not dying to a death effect. Soulfire is better, but out of your price range. 750 for a Belt of Healing is seldom misspent.

Those are the big ones that jump out at me. I'm sure you can spend easily that much on a couple of scrolls, some wands, and some other misc items to make up whatevers left. Don't forget you can always scribe extra spells with cash if you simply must have all of the 4th level spells, for example. (4th level is awesome, BTW)

I advise going Human or Gray Elf for the Wizard bonuses. As a Gray Elf, going Necropolitan and having the feat Faerie Mysteries Initiate means you get lots of goodies from being both Undead and your INT bonus to HP per HD (which would become d12s).

I don't think we're in full rebuild territory, but if we are: Never underestimate the sheer mileage you can get out of Craft Wondrous Item. A clean ~70% of everything you could ever want falls under the purview of that feat.

Indeed, we're not into full rebuild territory, just new stuff.
Craft wondrous items is good, but I really don't like the xp cost. I love it in pathfinder but I really dislike the penalty on xp.

And, sadly, I asked my GM about the books allowed : only the GM guide. So, even if some of the suggestions here were really interesting, won't be possible :(

For now, I'm thinking of :

Headband int +6 : 36k
Amulet of health (con) +2 : 8k
Cloak of resistance +3 : 9k
4 pearls of power I : 4k
ring of protection +1 : 2k
A few wands and a few new spells (scrolls+copy) : +/- 3.5k

That leaves approximately 10k, which I don't know what to do with.

A +1 eager, warning guantlet and some shapesand. A few healing belts. Depending on if your group spends lots of time away from civilization, a travelers cloak. The already mentioned anklet. A handy haversack.

Circlet of the Mages
It's like a PoP 3 but cheaper and more versatile

You can add the headband of intellect at no extra cost

If you can't get the spellshard get the B3 (Bocobbs Blessed Book) it is the same thing and it pays for itself if you're learning a lot if spells.
Also for learning spells: learn them from casters. They're cheaper than getting a scroll

Still in MiC though, but still, thanks ;)

Ah. Okay then. How about a cloak of resistance, a mithril buckler (i think those have 0% spell failure) with fortification, and something to grant miss chances against you. Also the handy haversack.

Get a +1 Mithral Buckler, it's 2,015 gp, has an armor check penalty of zero (no penalty for not being proficient), has an arcane spellcasting failure chance of 0%, and adds +2 to your AC.

If you have the Spell Compendium you can cast Greater Resistance or Superior Resistance every day instead of buying a Cloak of Resistance.

Get a Necklace of Adaptation (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicItems/wondrousItems.htm#necklaceofAdaptation), don't question it, just do it.

Get a Robe of Useful Items (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicItems/wondrousItems.htm#robeofUsefulItems) that has sixteen other patches. Skipping the bag of gold, silver coffer, gems, mule, scroll, and portable ram, you can have two of each item listed, plus a third of two of those items. It has a door that automatically attaches itself to the frame that's locked, it has a 10 ft. by 10 ft. by 10 ft. deep pit you can throw on the ground and make a hole in the ground, it has a window you can use to make a hole in a wall, etc. I would get an extra pit and an extra window, they'll probably be the most useful items. Maybe even take some of the others down to one to get more of those and another door.

And, sadly, I asked my GM about the books allowed : only the GM guide. So, even if some of the suggestions here were really interesting, won't be possible :(

DMG page 288, Creating Wondrous Items:
"Wondrous item costs are difficult to formularize. Refer to Table 7-33 on page 285 and use the item prices in this chapter as a guideline."

So get a custom magic item created according to the rules in the DMG, and make it identical to the Circlet of Rapid Casting in MIC (using the existing item as a guideline).

Also on page 288 of the DMG, you'll find the sidebar Behind the Curtain: Body Slot Affinities. That says you can put any physical improvement item on a shirt, so get a Shirt of Constitution instead of a necklace for the same price.
