Shadow Beasts (3 psi; conc., 1 min.). As an action, you cause two shadows to appear in unoccupied spaces you can see within 60 feet of you. The shadows last until your concentration ends, and they obey your verbal commands. In combat, roll for their initiative, and choose their behaviour during their turns. When this effect ends, the shadows disappear. See the Monster Manual for their stat block.

The 3rd level Mystic can cause the Shadopocalypse with the Mastery of Light and Darkness (Wu Jen Discipline)- note that they don't have to be Wu Jen to access this.

What is the Shadopocalypse you say...
Well my child, back in the day there was a prestige class called Master of Shrouds that could summon a single shadow to do it's bidding. This shadow like the 5e shadow could create more shadows by draining the strength out of their non-evil humanoid victims.

These new shadows could be commanded to follow the Master of Shrouds by commanding his original shadow to command them so that they would follow the Master of Shrouds as they would it. this way a vast and terrible army could be created all under the control of the Master of Shrouds.

Now 5e and we have something similar - the Mastery of Light and Darkness (Wu Jen Discipline) Shadow Beasts.
Now, this lets you summon 2 shadows for up to a minute.
they can drain non-evil humanoids and if these die they become more shadow.

but here's the rub, your shadows go *poof* after 1 minute and the new shadows don't raise up until... 1d4 hours later!
so no chance of controlling them.

Imaging and evil mystic armed with this goes to the cities orphanage at night and commands the shadows to drain every child in the orphanage. 1d4 hours later the new shadows rise up and drain all those that they can, and those raise up... rinse and repeat.

Yes, I know that they do 2d6+2 necrotic damage as well as the 1d4 strength drain and that will be hard not to kill the drainee before they rise. (could you command them to pull their blows, who knows?)

just food for thought...
