I've heard of a belt that gives +6 to all abilities, Belt of Wonder or Belt of Might or something like that. Which book is it in?

I haven't ever heard of it personally, but by RAW it would probably cost around 306000 gp, which is in the realm of epic items, So I'd suggest try the Epic Level Handbook. If its not in there, wait for someone more useful to come by.

The closest thing I can think of to that is the Headband of Perfect Excellence and the Belt of Mighty Prowess from Sword and Fist. The first gives a +6 to STR, DEX, and WIS, and the second gives +6 to STR and CON. Both, however, are 3E.

EDIT: Ah, here it is, I thought one existed. It's called the Belt of Magnificence from the little book of brokenness, the Miniatures handbook. +6 to all stats in one slot for 200,000 gp. That's actually cheaper than buying them all separately, if I'm not mistaken.

+ x2 for an item that doesn´t use a slot - so here we have 36+5x36x2, which 396,000 or almost 400k.....

In the warcraft RPG (that's the older edition) the Circlet of Elune grants the wielder +10 to all attributes... but I can almost guarantee that's not what you want.

The rules for pricing new magic items or improving existing items have been altered a bit since the DMG came out. The new rules are in the Magic Item Compendium on pages 232-234. There is no longer any 50% premium for ability enhancement bonuses. Thus the new formula for a +6 to all stats item would be 36,000 gp X 6, or 216,000 gp. They rounded the Belt of Magnificence price down just a bit to reflect that hardly any character gets optimum benefit from boosting all 6 stats.

Also, RAW it's easier to find 6 36K items rather thank 1 200K item.

The correct formula, taken from p282 of the DMG, is 36k + 36k*1.5*5 = 276k, unless you want to assess penalties for inappropriate body slots. I'm not sure how you'd do that for an item that fits affinity for some but not all abilities.

Possibly 36k + 36k*1.5*2 + 36k*1.5*1.5*3, or 36k + 36k*1.5*2 + 36k*2*3 depending on how you assess the penalty math.

On the other hand, claiming them as associated abilities (makes sense to me) on a non-slotted item, you price the whole thing at 72k + 54k +4*36k = 270k, by the same sidebar. So...the Ioun Stone of +6 all is cheaper than the belt, then.

The 200k price is (16k) cheaper than having all 6 items individually, and better as well. On the other hand, who actually needs more than one of a Cloak of Charisma, Periapt of Wisdom, and Headband of Intellect? A few classes can use two out of 3 (mostly newer caster classes). And on the other side, a number of classes would never contemplate the +6 belt of strength. I'm not sure it's cheaper than it's actual value to any given person.

Ninjaed by updates about WoTC changing the rules in funny ways...Really funny ways, considering the DMG sidebar specifically gives that as an example. And you could easily customize up a +6 to everything you need and nothing else headband, by the new rule, which doesn't quite sit right.

There are many classes that could benefit from 4 of the 6, and with the other slots opened up for other items it wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing.

A Warblade, for example, gets a benefit from everything but Charisma (+3 to Will Saves is nothing to sneeze at even if wisdom has no further value). And if you're like me, extra Charisma doesn't hurt because it lets me play him with more of a presence, which I enjoy (I've always been a huge fan of the intimidate skill, so there you go).

Make it a Sorcerer Jade Phoenix Mage/Warblade and you get even more bang for your buck.

A warblade uses wisdom for what, exactly?

Will saves? +3 to will saves is never a bad thing imo.

The item in question is the Belt of Magnificence in the Miniatures Handbook.

25000gp for +2 to all abilties, 100000gp for +4 and 200000 for +6.

The character that most benefits from a boost to all scores is a multiclassed Monk/Beguiler!

...ah, someone beat me to it...

Wow, that is a good item. I imagine that Multi Class Monk/Paladins would get some good use out of it.
