3.5 Poison help.

So, game just started, 2nd level party, and one player has a few hundred gold left over form his allotted 900GP starting budget, and is interested in buying some poisons.

I'm ok with this as a DM, and he asked me to suggest some things that would be affordable at his level.

Monster game, and his character, as a result, is immune to poisons.


Now, I personally don't really bother with poisons much my self, so this is territory that I've not explored much. That said, I was asked as the DM for input, so, I come to the play ground to ask for some information after informing the player I'd need to get back with him on it.

We have about 350GP left over to work with. What would be recommended in terms of buyable poisons for a 2nd level character who has blanket poison immunity, for this amount of gold?

350 gp will only buy a few doses and none of them really potent. If he wants frequent use, then it would be better to have a form (e.g. druid wildshape) or innate racial that grants it. Or minor creation cheese.

Alternatively there's always exalted and touch of golden ice (which as a su, technically will scale off of con or cha depending on interpretation of RAW), though it wouldn't show off his poison immunity.

How about to buy a Warbeast and harvest it's poison? Medium-sized Viper (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/snake.htm#viperSnake), Monstrous Scorpion (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/monstrousScorpion.htm), or Monstrous Spider (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/monstrousSpider.htm) should cost only 150 gp (and Medium Monstrous Centipede (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/monstrousCentipede.htm) - 100 gp)

You can take feat hidden talent and use it to abuse minor creation. Handle animal skill is more managable

Best poison in terms of cost and effect is Sleep Smoke from Waterdeep.
