In one of the books in D&D, I am pretty sure it was one of the core 3 rulesbooks, there was a rule stating that the physics of D&D normally worked like the real world, unless an ability made it otherwise.

Does anyone know which book, and what page that rule was on?
I have looked through my books, but I can't find it.

It's in the Planes (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/planes.htm) section:

Material Plane
The Material Plane tends to be the most Earthlike of all planes and operates under the same set of natural laws that our own real world does. This is the default plane for most adventures.

DMG, page 147, bottom left.

There is also a sidebar on page 136 that states that the default assumption is that real-world physics is followed unless stated otherwise.
