I'm going to be DM for a bard only campaign in a pirate setting. There are going to be islands of natives that each have their own style of music that they'll teach to the party after the party has earned their trust, and I want to mechanically make it so that each culture has a unique bardic performance that's added to the player's list of performances. The problem I'm having is that I'm struggling to come up with interesting options for performance effects. Any help would be wonderful, and THANK YOU KIND SOULS.

Are you looking for combat bonuses, non-combat bonuses, or either?

Edit: removed the dumb questions...

Instead of regular performances, maybe you could be inspired by Bardic Masterpieces (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/bard/bardic-masterpieces/masterpieces/). Each is a special performance for a singular, unique effect based on the story behind it.

While this is all 3.5, you could check out The Bard's Handbook (http://dictummortuum.blogspot.fi/2011/08/bards-handbook.html) for all the alternative songs and their effects, not to mention feats that have songlike effects (Haunting Melody, Doomspeak, etc.). A combination of different buffs, debuffs, direct attack and defense. You could craft all these different songs into Bard kits for these different islands. Perhaps add to that some prestige classes, or draw from their abilities: Stormsinger [Frostburn] and Virtuoso [Complete Adventurer] come with a menu full of different songs for instance and indeed, Sublime Chord [Complete Arcane] has some to boot.

Stormsinger controls winds and lightning, Virtuoso songs have spell-like effects, Sublime Chord songs directly enhance their powers, standard Bard songs give numeric buffs to their teammates, Dragonfire Inspiration gives massive elemental damage buffs, many songs have debuffing counterparts, etc.

Variant Channeling (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/cleric/variant-channeling/) is full of all kinds of ideas that could be applied to performances.
