You have just arrived at Gorn Gulf, the canyon leading into the last bastion of civilization.

You can't see your foe approaching yet-but you know he's coming. What will you do to prepare?

Aldrew flies to the top of the canyon, looking for any signs of Garkul's approach, or anything to tip off how long it will be until his arrival.

Far in the distance is a diminutive figure. At this distance, it's hard to tell an exact size, but judging as best you can, you'd wager the creature is no more than 10' large.

At its speed, you have maybe four hours.

I lie down and take a short rest to draw power from the land, recovering 3 level 1 and level 2 spell slots.

Time passes. The figure draws closer and closer. Finally, (assuming no one takes action sooner) the figure-clearly an orc, standing some 8' tall-calls out to you, from some 1000' away.

You've come to stop me, he says.

Ulthak, Iron Fist of Tempus (https://www.myth-weavers.com/sheet.html#id=1210039), Champion of Tempus
Ulthak stood in the middle of the canyon, his banner with Tempus' symbol on it, flapping in the slight breeze. The large figure peeks above the edge of the canyon....it is clear who is here. Garkul calls out to the group, and Ulthak is there to answer. "Yes, we have. You have caused too much wanton destruction, and need to be stopped. Tempus calls for fighting and conquest, but not with the blood of the innocents. Come and hear my terms, Garkul the Devourer. After terms are given, we will either turn away from each other. Or......we will fight to the death."

Lay your terms, worm. Tell me what you plan, he calls back, voice booming throughout the canyon.

Just to be clear-you are all on the floor of the canyon, unless you intentionally waited on the upper portion. Garkul is on the floor.

Ulthak, Iron Fist of Tempus (https://www.myth-weavers.com/sheet.html#id=1210039), Champion of Tempus
Ulthak narrows his eyes, staring daggers at the ingrate. "You WILL turn your armies back. And you and your armies will never come back to these lands again. Sail away, if need be, but you will never set one foot in these lands again. If you fail to acquiesce to this request, not only you....but also all of your men...will be hunted down like the rabid dogs you are and killed. Every. Single. One." Ulthak lets the statement hang in the air, and his voice booms back, "What say you, rabid dog? Will you surrender....or die?"

As he talks, Ulthak knows the way this is going so he starts to prepare. He dons his helmet and takes out Concluder. He starts to say a prayer to Tempus, granting him protection and victory against this mighty foe. As he does, Ulthak touches his sword to his chest, and magic starts to infuse into his person.

Casing Armor of Agathys (lasts 1 hour) and Death Ward (lasts 8 hours) on myself. The Armor gets me 5THP, but most importantly every time I get hit by anyone, that person gets 5 cold damage against them. It isn't much, but it adds up.

As the paladin approaches Garkul, Aldrew steels himself and casts a spell on Iorveth, turning him invisible. He then prepares to cast another spell.

Greater invis on our resident ranger,
And ready action to cast reverse gravity in case Garkul responds unfavorably. It'll have Garkul on the very edge of the area of reversal, and Mr. Pali-pants just next to it but not inside.

Charon steps out of a sudden shroud of mist between Ulthak and Garkul, planting his staff on the ground, his voice booming unnaturally, intoning:
If you have any knowledge about these lands, you will know us. I myself am merely a peacekeeper, yet I banished the Warlock Xeniophis, slew her draconic mount and scattered her army. The Emerald Enclave will come when I call, and the mightiest kings acknowledge my wisdom. And yet I am the least of these here. Turn back.

Misty Step, Thaumaturgy for the voice, then readied action to cast Mirror Image if combat begins.

1000' away. Reverse Gravity is gonna have to wait.

I'm afraid it's far too late for that. It's time for the pests to be exterminated.

With that, he draws his bow, ready to fire, but stays at the distance.

Roll for initiative!

Ulthak narrows his eyes and booms back, "I guess it is too late. And your right, the pests shall be eliminated under my boot, Garkul the Coward." Ulthak starts running towards the large orc, sword and shield at the ready.

Use all the movement I can to start running towards Garkul.

Confused. Is it my turn? Can I start the casting shenanigans?

I split into 4, the separate copies shifting around confusingly.

Pathetic tricks. Be more like Ultahk-a man of conviction and valor. A shame, Ulthak, you didn't join me, Garkul says, still at the ready with his bow.

You can't edit rolls in to your post, Sans.

Fixed. Still confused.

Garkul is too far away to take actions. But yes, feel free to cast any spells you like, so long as they can reach 1,000' away (for offensive/debuff spells) or target your much nearer allies.

Shenaniganing time! also exposition whether you like it or not, haha

I disdain to respond to the simple taunt; my long years mean I have heard many insults about my mentality, such as my decision to become a peacekeeper, my appearance, such as my traditional, druidic, weatherworn, battered, dirty and smelly cloak and not least my long years. Instead, I carefully blank my mind and draw again on the power of the land, summoning an escort of Feywild faeries to aid and protect us. Using my kin's ancient style of speech, I command 4 of them to lift our steps into the air and the others to veil themselves until I say otherwise, and all of them to prepare to ensure that their boon does not fail. I make use of their enchanted aid and speed through the air towards Garkul, on the way imbuing Ulthak with revitalising druidic energy with a simple gesture and a word.

Enjoy the wall of text?

So that's a Mirror Image up, Conjure Woodland Beings at level 6 to summon 16 Pixies, my obscure racial feature to talk to them telepathically because why not, them to cast Fly on all of us, most of them invisible, the rest to recast Fly in case the existing castings fail, and a quick Regenerate on the tank. Probably done.

EDIT: also, forgot to mention my magic items. mostly thematic.

JNAProductions

Bear in mind, any Pixie Concentrating on Fly cannot be Invisible.

In addition, that's at least three turns.

One to cast Mirror Image, one to summon, one to Regenerate.

Aldrew ooks to the druid and grins, splitting into 4 as well.

"Really Garkul, you should be flattered that we find you to be enough of a threat in order to use these 'parlor tricks'." All four figures shout to the warlord, speaking in unison.

Ditto with the mirror image ;)

Garkul has a readied action (well, three) for when you reach his bow range. Ulthak is coming nearer-is anyone else?

Sans.
2017-06-06, 12:17 AM
I had a readied action for the Mirror Image, then I summoned, then I started moving, then on the next turn I sort of swooped down to cast Regenerate on Ulthak. Also, he's kinda ~1000' away, so that's ~9 rounds before we get into range for actual combat. Better get started!
EDIT: Oh right, Initiative lol. I'll do the Regeneration on my next turn.

Charon speeds up, focused on ending this threat to the lands he has sworn to protect.

85 feet towards Garkul.

Iorveth takes off after his friend the half orc, readying a spell in his head, though he knows he is far out of range yet.

Is running x4 movement still a thing? I'll move all I can towards him.

Not officially. But I'll allow you to do it, though you'll take a -2 Penalty to AC until the start of your next turn if you do so, representing your focus on speed over safety.

Since we are talking here.....I meant that Ulthak is basically going to be running toward Garkul until he reaches his 5' attack range. So just let me know when we reaches him.

Ulthak, Iron Fist of Tempus (https://www.myth-weavers.com/sheet.html#id=1210039), Champion of Tempus
AC 27, HP 184/184
Buffs: Armor of Agathys, Death Ward
Ulthak runs towards Garkul, and even though he is a large orc and covered in plate mail, seems to be fairly quick on his feet. "I would have joined you, Garkul, if you were a leader worth following. But none compare to the might of Tempus. And soon....you shall see why." Ulthak then starts to sing out, in orc no less. It isn't pretty or melodic, but you can tell that it is a song of power. It is a prayer, as well as a warning, to any that may think themselves superior to Tempus.

As Ulthak rapidly draws nearer, Garkul begins firing approximately 800' out. The shots are long, but no less deadly for it, and he shoots them in rapid succession.

As the arrow fly by Ulthak they either graze off his helmet, get deflected by his shield, or he just outright doges them. "You'll have to do better than that, Garkul. Arrows are for those that can't fight face to face." Ulthak keep running towards Garkul, gaining speed as he does. When he gets within range of one of his spells. Ulthank says a prayer and points his sword at Garkul. A spell then takes hold of Garkul, and if successful, keeps Garkul from moving from the onslaught that is coming his way.

When Ulthak is within 60ft of Garkul, he will cast Hold Person on him. WIS save, DC 18

Here's hoping he rolls crappy.
