Some questions i have on find steed/mounted not covered in PHB

When you cast find steed (warhorse) but do not mount the steed. Can you use the warhorse as some kind of animal companion, like to grant flanking? Have an extra damager perhaps?

Can the warhorse use its trample ability while you are mounting it?

Animal companion: yes. Although it doesn't get much HP so you DM will destroy it quickly if you do.

Trample: depends on the DM I guess for while you are mounting it, it would be a nasty athletics check to stay on though in my mind. It certainly can trample while you are mounted on it though.
