This week is to celebrate our roots as the wonderful (and dastardly in some cases) posters of the Forum. Both reminisce on the "good ol' days" here and laugh at each others early beginnings (and avatars)

The requirements.

Bring back your first avvie (if possible)

Try and recreate sig pieces!

And sit back and remember the "goold ol days"

It'll run sometime in September (so not as to trample on "Mistaken identity week")

And if you're not that old you can come and get a feel what it "used to be" here. :wink:

I started with the barbarianguy of this board, then moved to some evil guy who looked a bit like sauron off another forum, and now im using this one which DR.Bath made me. I want it with a black background, and even made my own, but it sux so i'm keeping this 1 for now.

That avvie rules, I like it a lot. But one does get tired even of awesome avvies, don't you? Having so many possibilities and cool things to try, it's fun to change it every once in a while.

There are some that are beyond cool, though, like Serpentine's. And they should only be changed for a better one, which in this case is very difficult. It's also a matter of identity, for those who achieved that. Like Vorpal, ZRS, Amotis and others.

Anyway, I was thinking this while looking at join dates. Which user has the oldest join date, of those still active? And by active I mean posting on a truly regular basis, not 2 times a month in some obscure pbp game.

I can remember being so dissapointed then too. I had seen all Veera's wonderful avatars and really wanted one, but she had her 50 post minimum rule. So I waited and waited until I finally could get one, and when I did, I found she had retired.

My first post... was about a month after I made my account, so I knew to defend myself in the welcome thread. I sounded stupid.
First non-default avvie I was too lazy to change, and thus still have.
In my sig, I said something about being the self-appointed representative of the lurkers on the boards, and sounded stupid.
I think I stayed in wish twisting and kiss/kill. Mostly so I could hit on girls without them noticing.

I created a really yuk reputation for myself though, and got into a massive bitchfight with all the oldies: Kyrian, Vael/Faceninja (where did they go), Gwen, and all of that little niche. I got really angry with them all, and eventually, decided it was better to just walk away from these forums for a while... I won't say who I am now though :smallbiggrin: But the old times were really fun, till I got into a war with too many people, so I came back a fair while ago, and all that. First avatar would have to be one of the copyright infringing ones that the old VB software came pre-loaded with. After that, it would have been my cut-out from the Wampa card in Decipher's SWCCG with the cool "reaching out to grab you" look.

This is a pretty cool theme week, I must admit. I don't know if I'll get involved, because I can't remember my first sig, and I don't know where to find any of my previous custom avatars.

My first post was in the Recruiting thread for Clans of Alanador, which ended up being a great game, and one of the longer running I've been in, even though it's now long defunct. Actually, I think the only one that ran longer was Generica, which is also now defunct, though that could just be my nostalgia making it seem like it lasted longer.

My first custom avvy was for a schizophrenic warlock that was bouncing around in my head for a while. The one I'm most attached to before Cardinal Ximinez was an illithid chef frying a brain that I found in Sneak or Chris's gallery. I remember being told once that between my avvy, my sig, and my name I couldn't possibly be cooler, though I don't remember which name that was.

It was either HoosierDaddy or early in Don Beegles. I remember I went a short stint as chipmunkboy when I realized HoosierDaddy made me sound like I was a Hoosier, which I'm not. Probably HoosierDaddy, because I think Darklight said it, and I remember he was upset when I switched to chipmunkboy.

I don't remember any of my old sig except for the unforgettable:
Ilithids have no genitals, which I unfortunately can't replicate now because they got rid of the marquee feature.

I also only remember one of my PTs, a That 70s Show Quote: I'll even let you be Mandar, the half-elf.
